General
The plug- n RS232 module w ll g ve a Smart Connect Mult -loop panel the ab l ty to nterface to RS232 ser al
equ pment and dev ces. Th s s used to connect the CUSTOM PLUS2 Panel Pr nter to the panel. The module also has a
5V aux output that s used to prov de power to the pr nter.
Installation
1. Ensure that the nstallat on area s free from any cables or w res that may get caught, and that there s enough
space on the DIN ra l to mount the module. Also ensure that the DIN cl p underneath the module s n the open
pos t on.
2. Place the module onto the DIN ra l, hook ng the metal earth cl p underneath onto the ra l f rst.
3. Once the earth cl p s hooked, push the bottom of the module onto the ra l so that the module s ts flat.
4. Push the plast c DIN cl p (located at the bottom of the module) upwards to lock and secure the module nto
pos t on.
5. Once the module s secured to the DIN ra l, s mply connect the suppl ed CAT5E cable to the module’s RJ45 port.
6. Connect the other end of CAT5E cable to the nearest unoccup ed RJ45 port on the term nat on PCB.
ATTENTION: THE PANEL MUST BE POWERED DOWN AND DISCONNECTED FROM THE BATTERIES BEFORE
INSTALLING OR REMOVING ANY MODULES.

TRM RJ45 Port A ress Designation
Each RJ45 port on the Smart Connect Mult -loop term nat on has ts own un que port address. Th s port address s
mportant to keep note of as t s d splayed on Alarm/Fault messages and s used when conf gur ng or sett ng up
cause and effects on the panel (See SCM operat on manual GLT-261-7-10).
Securing the mo ules
The modules are des gned to cl p together to make them more secure. In add t on, the Smart Connect Mult loop
panel s suppl ed w th D n ra l stoppers. These should be f tted before the f rst module, and after the last module on
each ra l.
Before Powering the Panel On
1. To prevent the r sk of a spark, do not connect the batter es. Only connect the batter es after power ng on the
system from ts ma n AC supply.
2. Check that all external f eld w r ng s clear from any open, shorts and ground faults.
3. Check that all the modules have been nstalled properly, w th correct connect ons and placement
4. Check that all sw tches and jumper l nks are at the r correct sett ngs.
5. Check that all nterconnect on cables are plugged n properly, and that they are secure.
6. Check that the AC power w r ng s correct.
7. Ensure that the panel chass s has been correctly earth grounded.
Before power ng on from the ma n AC supply, make sure that the front panel door s closed

Power on Proce ure
1. After the above has been completed, turn the panel on (V a AC Only). The panel w ll follow the same power up
sequence descr bed n n t al power up sect on above

1. Check that the module conf gurat on s as expected us ng the 


numbers. Press the 

 con to conf rm the changes.
2. The new module s now conf gured nto the panel and s ready for use.
3. S nce the batter es are not connected, the panel w ll report them as removed, l ght ng the yellow “Fault” LED,
nterm ttently sound ng the Fault buzzer, and d splay ng battery removed message on the screen.
4. Connect the batter es, ensur ng that the polar ty s correct (Red w re = +ve) & (Black w re = -ve). Acknowledge
the Fault event v a the d splay screen, and reset the panel to clear the battery fault.
5. The panel should now rema n n the normal cond t on, and you can conf gure the panel as normal.

NOTE:
It is recommended that the SCM
-
PM
printer cable is routed around the bottom of the PSU
and Battery charger bracket as shown below:
minimum of 6.4mm (1/4 in) is to be provided between all power-limited conductors and all
electric light, power, Class 1 conductors, non-power-limited fire-protective signaling conductors,
or medium-power broadband communications-circuit conductors.
