Get Started
The following topics give you all the information you need to set up your device and wireless
service the first time.

Set Up Your Device
You must first charge the battery to begin setting up your device and insert a SIM card.
1. Charge your battery.
Plug the AC adapter into the power socket on your device.
Plug the AC adapter into an electrical outlet. Fully charging a battery may take up to
three hours.
Note: Your device’s battery should have enough charge for the device to turn on. You should
fully charge the battery as soon as possible.
2. Press and hold the Power Button to turn the device on.
If your device is activated, it will turn on and search for Sprint service.
If your device is not yet activated, see Activate Your Device for more information.

Activate Your Device
Follow the instructions below to activate your device if it has not already been activated.
Depending on your account or how and where you purchased your device, it may be ready to
use or you may need to activate it on your Sprint account.
●If you purchased your device at a Sprint Store, it is probably activated and ready to use.
●If you received your device in the mail and it is for a new Sprint account or a new line of
service, it is designed to activate automatically.
When you turn the device on for the first time, you should see a Hands-Free.
Activation screen, which may be followed by a PRL Update screen and a Firmware
Update screen. Follow the onscreen instructions to continue.
●If you received your device in the mail and you are activating a new device for an
existing number on your account (you’re swapping devices), you can activate on your
computer online or directly on your device.
●Activate on your computer:
Go to sprint.com/activate and complete the online instructions to activate your device.
●Activate on your device:
Turn on your new device. (Make sure the old one is turned off.) Your device will
automatically attempt Hands-Free Activation.
Touch Activate to override auto-activation and start the manual activation wizard.
Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the activation process.
To confirm activation, open the browser and try browsing the web. If your device is still not
activated, visit sprint.com/support for assistance. If you do not have access to the Internet, call
Sprint Customer Service at 1-888-211-4727.
Tip: Do not press the Power Button while the device is being activated. Pressing the Power
Button cancels the activation process.
Note: If you are having any difficulty with activation, visit sprint.com/support.
Sprint Account Information and Help

Sprint Account Passwords
You will need to create passwords to protect access to your personal account information, your
data services account. As a Sprint customer, you enjoy unlimited access to all your information.

Account User Name and Password
If you are the account owner, you will create an account user name and password when you
sign on to sprint.com/mysprint. (Click Sign in/Register and then click Sign up now! to get
started.) If you are not the account owner (if someone else receives the bill for your Sprint
service), you can get a sub-account password at sprint.com/mysprint.
Data Services Password
With your Sprint device, you may elect to set up an optional data services password to control
access and authorize purchases.

Manage Your Account
Manage your Sprint account from your computer.

Your device is packed with features that simplify your life, and it provides you entertainment
based on exceptional technology and high standards. The following topics will introduce the
basic functions and features of your device.

Key Functions
●Indicator displays charging status.
●Touchscreen displays all the information needed to operate your device, such as the
shortcuts and widgets, and the date and time. It also provides one-touch access to all of
your features and applications.
●Back Key lets you return to the previous screen, or close a dialog box, options
menu, the Notifications panel, or onscreen keyboard.
●Home Key returns you to the Home screen. Press and hold to open the recently-
used applications window.
●Menu Key allows you to access your device’s main functions menu: Add
Wallpaper, Manage apps, and Settings. While in a menu, press to open a list of actions
available from the current screen or onscreen option.
●Volume Up/Down Key allows you to adjust the media volume.
●Sleep Key allows you to turn on or turn off your screen.
●Projector Key turns the projector on or off.
●Power Socket allows you to connect to the AC adapter.
●USB Jack allows you to connect the USB cable.
●HDMI Jack allows you to connect the HDMI cable.

●3.5 mm Headset Jack allows you to plug in a stereo headset for convenient.
●Power Button lets you turn the device on or off or turn the screen on or off, restart the
device, or switch your device to silent mode, vibration mode, or airplane mode.
●Power Bank Button allows you to charge other devices.
●Reset Button allows you to reset your device.
●Card Slot allows you to install and remove a microSDHC card or Micro-SIM card.
●Adjust Focus Wheel lets you to adjust the focus of the projector.
●Projector Lens lets you project your device’s display.
CAUTION! Inserting an accessory into the incorrect jack may damage the device.

Turn Your Device On and Off
The instructions below explain how to turn your device on and off.
Turn Your Device On
■Press and hold the Power Button.
Turn Your Device Off
1. Press and hold the Power Button to open the device options menu.
2. Touch Power off to turn the device off.
Your screen remains blank while your device is off (unless the battery is charging).
Turn Your Screen On and Off
Your device allows you to quickly turn the screen off when not in use and to turn it back on and
unlock it when you need it.
Turn the Screen Off When Not in Use
■Touch to quickly turn the screen on or off.
To save battery power, the device automatically turns off the screen after a certain period of
time when you leave it idle.

Turn the Screen On and Unlock It
1. To turn the screen on, touch on the touchscreen.
2. Touch and hold at the center of the screen.
If you have set up a different screen lock, you will be prompted to draw the pattern or
enter the password or PIN. See Screen Lock.
Touchscreen Navigation
Your device’s touchscreen lets you control actions through a variety of touch gestures.
Touch
When you want to type using the onscreen keyboard, select items onscreen such as application
and settings icons, or press onscreen buttons, simply touch them with your finger.
Touch and Hold
To open the available options for an item (for example, a file or link in a Web page), touch and
hold the item.
Swipe or Slide
To swipe or slide means to quickly drag your finger vertically or horizontally across the screen.
Drag
To drag, press and hold your finger with some pressure before you start to move your finger.
While dragging, do not release your finger until you have reached the target position.
Flick
Flicking the screen is similar to swiping, except that you need to swipe your finger in light, quick
strokes. This finger gesture is always in a vertical direction.
Pinch and Spread
“Pinch” the screen using your thumb and forefinger to zoom out or “spread” the screen to zoom
in when viewing a picture or a Web page. (Move fingers inward to zoom out and outward to
zoom in.)

Your Home Screen
The home screen is the starting point for your device’s applications, functions, and menus. You
can customize your home screen by adding application icons, shortcuts, folders, widgets, and
more.

Your home screen extends beyond the initial screen. Swipe the screen left or right to display
additional screens.
Tip: Touch to return to the main home screen from any other home screen.

Learn how to add, move, or remove items from the home screen.
Add Items to the Home Screen
1. Touch > .
2. Touch the APPS tab or the WIDGETS tab on top.
3. Touch and hold an application icon or a widget. Then drag it to the position you want in
the home screen and release it.
Move or Remove Items on the Home Screen
■Touch and hold the item you want to move or remove from the home screen.
To move the item, drag it to a new area and release it.

To remove the item, drag it to the at the top-left of the screen and release it.
Note: Removing an item from the home screen will not remove it from your apps list.
Status Bar
The status bar at the top of the home screen provides device and service status information on
the right side and notification alerts on the left. To view notification alerts, touch the status bar
and drag it down.

Enter Text
You can type on your device using one of the available touchscreen keyboards.
Android Keyboard
The Android Keyboard provides a layout similar to a desktop computer keyboard.
●Touch the alphabetic keys to enter letters. Touch and hold specific keys to enter
associated accented letters or numbers. For example, to enter è, touch and hold .
As the available accented letters appear, slide your finger to choose èand release.
●Touch to use uppercase. Double-tap to lock uppercase. This key also
changes to indicate the current case you are using: for lowercase, for
uppercase, and when locked in uppercase.
●Touch to delete the text before the cursor.
●Touch to select numbers. You can then touch to find more. Also, often used
symbols are displayed on top of the keyboard.
●Touch to start Google voice typing, touch and hold and swipe to change the input
languages or Android keyboard settings.
Google Voice Typing
Google Voice typing uses Google voice recognition to convert speech to text.

●Touch to turn on/off voice input from the Android keyboard.
●Touch to start Google voice typing.
●Touch to switch to keyboard input.
Swype
The Swype™keyboard lets you enter words by drawing a path from letter to letter in one
continuous motion. When you lift your finger after the last letter of a word, a space is
automatically added.
●Touch the alphabetic keys to enter letters. Touch and hold a key to enter the number or
symbol located on the top of the key. Keep holding the key to bring up a series of
characters available on that key, including associated accented letters, symbols or
numbers.
●For example, in English mode, touch and hold to enter 5. Keep holding to
open a character and number list. You can select to enter t, or 5.
●Touch to use uppercase or lowercase. This key also indicates the current case:
for lowercase, for uppercase, and when locked in uppercase.
