Installation Guide for Zyxel Prestige 630 ADSL USB Modem
1. Introduction
=======================================================================
The USB port can be used only if your system is running Microsoft(r)
Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Me
2. Installation
Don’t connect the USB modem before installing the drivers.
Step 1. Insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive and double-click the Setup icon to start
the installation procedure.
Step 2. The Welcome window provides an opportunity to quit the setup process to exit all
Windows programs before continuing. When all Windows Programs are closed, click Next >
Step 3. Read the license agreement and click Yes.
Step 4. Select Other Service Provider and click Next >
Step 5. At the Select Driver Type window, highlight ANNEX-A LAN Driver Next >
Step 6. Select RFC 1483 IPoATM Bridged Encapsulation here click Next >
Select Modulation type as G.DMT
Uncheck auto modulation tab

Step 7. At the Start Copying Files window, review your current settings. Click Customize or <
Back to change the settings. Click Next > to accept the current settings.
Note: For Windows 2000 applications, the Digital Signature not found window warns that the
installation software is not a digitally signed version. A digital signature is not necessary, Zyxel
has tested the software with this OS. Click Yes to allow the installation to continue.
Step 8. The Setup Complete window indicates successful completion of the installation process.
Step 9. Now DSL installer will try to detect the hardware and a popup window will appear as
shown below
Connect the modem NOW and installation will continue at the end of it you should get a window
saying the Modem is successfully installed and asking you to restart the PC.
Note: For Windows 2000 applications, the Digital Signature not found window warns that the
installation software is not a digitally signed version. A digital signature is not necessary, Zyxel
has tested the software with this OS. Click Yes to allow the installation to continue.

3. Indicator LED’s
USB: will be solid green
ADSL: Blinks if the Line is down and solid green if the line is up.
4. Checking device Status

Click Start Settings Control Panel and then double-click the Zyxel DSL Modem icon to check
the line status and line rate.

5. Uninstalling the USB Modem
=======================================================================
Click Start Programs Zyxel DSL Modem and click on uninstall tab to remove Modem from the
PC after uninstalltion restart the PC.
6. Configuring Static IP address
=======================================================================
In Windows XP, Windows Me and Windows 2000 go to Control Panel, Network & Dialup
connections folder identify the New Local Area Connection # which got created during the
installation. Configure the Static IP address, netmask, Gateway and DNS entry given from ISP
department.
In Windows 98 & Windows 98 SE go to Network Neighborhood properties window identify the
TCP/IP adopter named Zyxel USB ADSL LAN Modem and configure the IP parameters.
7. Precautions that the customer must take on his PC
The customer must have Personal firewall installed on his PC.
The Personal firewalls that are free downloads are on http://www.sygate.com
and http://www.zonelabs.com/
The user can have paid firewalls installed from local system integrators
Standard paid firewalls are available on
http://www.symantec.com/
Customer must also have an updated anti-virus from http://www.symantec.com
Anti-virus is a paid service from Symantec
8. How do u know whether the USB modem is live
USB power LED must be on. USB modem takes power from PC USB port.
The ADSL line LED indicates line status
The USB port represents condition of data transfer on the USB port
