CAUTION: Prior to using the DermLite, read these instructions
and keep them in a safe place for future reference.
CAUTION: United States Federal Law restricts this device to
sale by or on the order of a physician.
CAUTION: The DermLite is designed for external examination
only.
The DermLite II Multispectral is a pocket epiluminescence mi-
croscopy (PELM) device designed to view skin lesions with high
magnification and clarity.
A 25mm 10x lens combined with a cross-polarized four- color
illumination system, allowing independent activation of four
sets of eight LEDs, provides for ideal skin microscopy. While one
set of eight LEDs produces glare- free white light for a daylight-
type rendition of the skin, three other sets each produce
unique colored light, which penetrate different skin depths,
ranging from the shallow blue, and yellow to the deep red light
frequency. A high quality lens with superb color correction and
reduced image distortion is used to image the skin. To facilitate
the use of immersion fluids, and allow for fixed digital imaging,
the unit is equipped with a retractable faceplate spacer.
Directions for Use
CAUTION: Do not look directly into the bright LED light. Pa-
tients must close their eyes during facial examinations.
IMPORTANT: Before initial use, please charge the internal
lithium ion battery for a minimum of 4 hours using the charger
provided.
Hold the DermLite II so that the LEDs are aimed in the direction
of the lesion to be examined. Place the device approximately 1”
(~25mm) from the skin. Push and hold the power button (A) at
the left side of the unit for 2-3 seconds to activate the LEDs.
Look through the lens with your eye placed 1”( ~25mm) to 4”
(~100mm) above the DermLite II. Move the device closer or fur-
ther away from the lesion to obtain the desired image focus. For
oil immersion imaging, or for camera use, rotate the spacer dial
(B) so that the white marker is at the 12 o’clock position. For
fine focusing within a range of +/- 1mm, simply rotate the dial to
the left or right between the 11 and 1 o’clock markers (C).
CAUTION: If the DermLite II Multispectral is used for oil im-
mersion imaging, place the oil only on the skin and then place
the extended faceplate spacer on top of the oil. Do not allow oil
to contact the USB port, DC charging port, or battery compart-
ment.
To attach the DermLite II Multispectral to a camera, the device
is equipped with a 28mm thread (D). A simple ring adapter
(such as a 28-37mm stepping ring) may be required to adapt
the device to your camera of choice. Please contact 3Gen or a
photographic retailer for more information.
Removable Faceplate (E)
The DermLite II Multispectral is equipped with a removable
faceplate. To remove this piece, rotate the spacer dial (B) to
extend the spacer, and twist off the small ring in the very front
of the spacer.
Light Frequencies
The button located on the right side labeled “MODE” (F) lets
you toggle between four sets of eight LEDs with distinct light
frequency. Each time the device is turned on, cross-polarized
white light, used to examine deeper pigmentation, is automati-
cally active. For skin surface visualization using blue light, push
the “MODE” button once. To activate the yellow light, push the
button again, and a third time to achieve red illumination. Push
the button once again to toggle back to white light.
Rechargeable Battery
After a minimum 4-hour initial charge, the lithium-ion battery
provides up to 2 hours of continuous operation, or enough
power for imaging approximately 600 lesions at 30 seconds
per examination. Once the battery is depleted, the unit will
automatically shut off, and will need to be recharged. Plug the
charging cord into the round DC charging port (G), and the red
charging indicator (H) will illuminate. Once the battery is fully
charged, the green indicator will light up (I). Optionally, you may
use a USB cable to charge the unit via the USB port (J).
CAUTION: When charging with a USB cable, the DermLite II
Multispectral must be connected only to the USB port of a com-
puter that complies with the IEC / EN 60950 standard to ensure
continued compliance of the product with the European Medical
Device Directive. Refer to the operator’s manual provided with
your computer to ensure that the computer complies with the
above standard.
After approximately 1,000 charges, the battery’s capacity will
diminish and the battery may need to be replaced. To remove
the battery door (K), push down on the two ovals (L) with your
thumbs and slide the battery door back. Disconnect the small
white battery plug, and remove the battery. Insert a new bat-
tery and reconnect the battery plug. Replace the battery door
securely on the device.
The DermLite II Multispectral uses a special lithium-ion battery,
which can only be purchased from 3Gen or from an authorized
3Gen dealer.
CAUTION: Do not under any circumstances use another battery
other than the one designed for this unit. Doing so could result
in damage to the unit. Also, do not under any circumstances
use another charger other than the one supplied with the unit.
Troubleshooting
Please check our website (www.DermLite.com) for the most
current troubleshooting information.
If you need to return the DermLite II Multispectral to 3Gen for
servicing, please call 3Gen prior to returning the device, and
a unique Return Merchandise Number (RMA) will be issued to
you.
No Light
Fully recharge the battery and check again. If the condition
persists, send the unit to 3Gen for evaluation and/or repair.
Weak Lighting
Recharge the battery.
LED Fails
The LEDs used in the DermLite II Multispectral are designed to
last over 100,000 hours. If any of the 32 LEDs fail, contact 3Gen
for repair.
Mechanical Malfunction
Please contact 3Gen to arrange for service.
Care and Maintenance
The DermLite II Multispectral is designed for trouble- free
operation. There are no adjustments to be made nor is any
special servicing required. Never attempt to open the device for
any reason.
Cleaning and Sterilization
The DermLite II Multispectral body may be cleaned or disin-
fected by wiping it with Isopropyl alcohol (70% vol.). Do not use
alcohol or disinfectants in the optical areas of the unit. Do not
use abrasive material on any part of the equipment or immerse
the device in liquid. Do not autoclave.
Cleaning the Lens and the Polarizers
The lens and the polarizing filters should be treated as high
quality photographic equipment and should be cleaned with
standard lens cleaning equipment and protected from harmful
chemicals.

Brugsanvisning
ADVARSEL! Kig ikke direkte ind i de lysende lysdioder. Patienter skal

VIGTIGT! Før enheden bruges første gang, skal du oplade det indbyggede
lithiumbatteri i mindst 4 timer med den medfølgende oplader.
Hold DermLite II, så lysdioderne peger i retning af den læsion, der skal
undersøges. Placér enheden cirka 25 mm over huden. Tryk på og hold
strømknappen (A) i venstre side af enheden i 2-3 sekunder for at aktivere
lysdioderne.
Kig gennem linsen med øjet placeret 25-100 mm over DermLite II. Flyt
enheden tættere på eller længere væk fra læsionen for at opnå det
ønskede billedfokus. Til billeddannelse med olieindkapsling eller brug
af kamera skal du dreje afstandsskiven (B), så den hvide markering er
ved positionen kl. 12. Til finfokusering inden for et område på +/- 1 mm
skal du dreje skiven til venstre eller højre mellem positionen kl. 11 og
kl. 1 (C).
ADVARSEL! Hvis DermLite II Multispectral bruges til billeddannelse med
olieindkapsling, skal du kun placere olien på huden og derefter placere
det udstrakte afstandsstykke til frontglasset oven på olien. Olien må ikke
komme i kontakt med USB-porten, jævnstrømsopladningsporten eller
batterirummet.
For at kunne montere DermLite II Multispectral til et kamera er enheden
udstyret med et 28 mm gevind (D). Du skal evt. bruge en enkel adapter-

Aftageligt frontglas (E)
DermLite II Multispectral er udstyret med et aftageligt frontglas. For at
fjerne dette skal du dreje afstandsskiven (B) for at udvide afstandsstyk-
ket og dreje den lille ring helt foran på afstandsstykket af.
Lysfrekvenser
Med knappen “MODE” (F) på højre side kan du skifte mellem fire sæt af
hver otte lysdioder med forskellige lysfrekvenser. Hver gang enheden
tændes, aktiveres automatisk krydspolariseret hvidt lys, der bruges til at
undersøge den dybere pigmentering. For visualisering af hudoverfladen
med blåt lys skal du trykke én gang på knappen “MODE”. For at aktivere
gult lys skal du trykke på knappen igen, og for rødt lys skal du trykke en
tredje gang. Tryk på knappen én gang til for at skifte tilbage til hvidt lys.
Genopladeligt batteri
Efter mindst 4 timers startopladning giver lithiumbatteriet op til 2
timers uafbrudt brug eller nok strøm til billeddannelse af omkring 600
læsioner med 30 sekunder pr. undersøgelse. Når batteriet er tomt,
slukker enheden automatisk, hvorefter den skal genoplades. Tilslut
ladeledningen til den runde jævnstrømsopladningsport (G), hvorefter
den røde ladelampe (H) tændes. Når batteriet er helt opladet, lyser den
grønne lampe (I). Du kan også bruge et USB-kabel til at oplade enheden
via USB-porten (J).
ADVARSEL! Når du oplader med et USB-kabel, skal DermLite II Multi-
spectral kun være tilsluttet USB-porten på en computer, der overholder
IEC/EN 60950- standarden, for at sikre produktets fortsatte overholdelse
af EU-direktivet om medicinske anordninger. Se i
brugermanualen til computeren for at sikre, at computeren overholder
ovenstående standard.
Efter omkring 1.000 opladninger mindskes batteriets kapacitet, og
batteriet skal muligvis udskiftes. Fjern batterilemmen (K) ved at skubbe

Einführung
Das DermLite II Multispectral ist ein Handdermatoskop (Pocket Epilu-
minescence Microscopy/PELM) zur Betrachtung von Hautläsionen mit
starker Vergrößerung und hoher Lichtstärke.
Vier Leuchtdiodengruppen in vier Farben á 8 Leuchtdioden (LED), in
Verbindung mit Doppel-Polarisation, ermöglichen ideale Hautmikros-
kopie. Eine Diodengruppe erzeugt ein nahezu reflektionsfreies weisses
Licht zur tageslichtähnlichen Betrachtung der Haut, und drei weitere
Diodengruppen erzeugen Licht spezieller Farbfrequenzen, welches die
Haut unterschiedlich tief durchdringt, von den relativ oberflächigen
blauen und orangefarbenen Frequenzen bis hin zu dem tiefdurchdrin-
genden roten Licht. Eine hochwertige Optik bietet 10-fache Vergrößer-
ung, ausgezeichnete Farbkorrektur sowie reduzierte Bildverzerrung
für eine exakte Hautbetrachtung. Eine ausfahrbare Kontaktscheibe
ermöglicht zudem die Immersionsdermatoskopie und ist zugleich eine
stabile Auflage für die digitale Fotografie.
Gebrauchsanweisung
Achtung: Bitte auf keinen Fall direkt in das helle LED- Licht schauen.
Patienten müssen während der Untersuchung des Gesichts die Augen
geschlossen halten.
Wichtig: Vor der erstmaligen Benutzung ist der integrierte Akku mithilfe
des beiliegenden Ladegerätes für mindestens 4 Stunden vollständig
aufzuladen.
Halten Sie das DermLite II Multispectral so, daß die LEDs auf die zu
untersuchende Hautläsion gerichtet sind. Halten Sie das DermLite
ungefähr 1” (~25mm) über die Hautoberfläche. Drücken und halten Sie
den Schaltknopf (A) an der linken Seite für ca. 2-3 Sekunden, um die
Leuchtdioden anzuschalten.
Mit dem Auge schauen Sie durch die Linse im Abstand von 25mm bis
100mm. Bewegen Sie das DermLite II Multispectral vor und zurück, bis
Sie den gewünschten Bildausschnitt von der Läsion sehen. Zur Ölim-
mersion oder zur digitalen Fotografie mit dem Gerät drehen Sie die die
weisse Markierung des Drehknopfs (B) auf die 12 Uhr Position, um den
integrierten Abstandszylinder samt Kontaktscheibe auszufahren. Zur
Feinfokussierung (+-1mm) drehen sie den Knopf zwischen den beiden
Symbolen (C).
Achtung: Bitte achten Sie darauf, dass bei der Ölimmersion die Flüssig-
keit nicht in Kontakt mit dem USB-, Ladeeingang oder in das Akkufach
gerät.
Um das DermLite II Multispectral mit einer (Digital-) Kamera zu
verbinden, schliessen Sie Ihren Apparat an das 28mm-Gewinde (D) des
DermLite an. Ein Ringadapter, den Sie im Fotofachgeschäft kaufen kön-
nen, könnte ggf. erforderlich sein.
Abnehmbare Kontaktscheibe (E)
Das DermLite II Multispectral ist mit einer abnehmbaren Kontaktscheibe
ausgestattet. Um diese abzunehmen, drehen Sie den Drehknopf (B),
um die Kontaktscheibe auszufahren, und drehen Sie dann den kleinen
Kontaktring am äusseren Ende des Abstandszylinders ab.
Farbfrequenzen
Mit dem rechten Schalter, gekennzeichnet mit “MODE” (F), lässt sich
zwischen vier Farbmodi wählen. Beim Einschalten des DermLite ist
automatisch der weisse Modus gewählt, der zur tageslichtnahen Hau-
tuntersuchung geeignet ist. Um die oberflächigen Hautstrukturen mit
dem blauen Licht zu betrachten, drücken Sie den “MODE” Knopf kurz.
Ein weiteres Drücken des Knopfes aktiviert die orangefarbene Frequenz.
Wird der Schalter nochmals betätigt, erzeugt das DermLite wieder das
anfängliche weisse Licht.
Batteriewechsel (3)
Nach dem vierstündigen Aufladen des Akkus ist ein zweistündiger
Dauerbetrieb möglich, vergleichbar mit 600 Untersuchungen á 30
Sekunden. Das DermLite schaltet sich automatisch ab, sobald der Akku
entladen ist. Zum Aufladen des Akkus stecken Sie das Ladekabel in den
Anschluss (G), und der rote Ladeindikator (H) leuchtet auf. Sobald der
Akku vollständig aufgeladen ist, leuchtet der grüne Ladeindikator (I)
auf. Wahlweise kann das Gerät auch über den USB-Ausgang aufgeladen
werden.
Achtung: Um die European Medical Device Directive einzuhalten, achten
Sie bitte bei Aufladen des DermLites mithilfe eines USB-Kabels darauf,
dass das DermLite nur an einen Computer angeschlossen ist, der dem
IEC/EN 60950 Standard entspricht.
Nach ca. 1000 Ladevorgängen verliert der Akku seine Betriebskapazität
und sollte ausgetauscht werden. Dazu nehmen Sie die Batteriedeckel
ab, indem Sie auf die zwei Ovale (L) drücken und den Batteriedeckel
abschieben. Ziehen Sie den kleinen weissen Akkustecker heraus und
entnehmen Sie die Batterie. Legen Sie eine neue Batterie ein, schliessen
Sie den Akkustecker wieder an, und befestigen Sie den Batteriedeckel
wieder am Gerät.
Der spezielle Akku ist ausschliesslich von 3Gen oder einem autorisierten
3Gen-Händler zu erhalten.
Achtung: Benutzen Sie auf keinen Fall einen Fremdakku oder –lade-
gerät. Dies könnte Ihr DermLite beschädigen.
Troubleshooting
Bitte besuchen Sie unsere Webseite (www.DermLite.com) mit Informa-
tionen über die häufigsten Fehlerquellen. Falls Sie das DermLite zur
Reparatur einschicken möchten, rufen Sie 3Gen an, und Ihnen wird eine
Reparaturnummer zugeteilt.
Kein Licht
Legen Sie eine neue Batterie ein und prüfen Sie das Gerät. Falls es nicht
funktioniert, schicken Sie das Gerät zum Umtausch oder Reparatur an
3Gen.
Zu schwaches Licht
Laden Sie den Akku auf. Sollten Sie weiterhin Probleme haben, kontak-
tieren Sie 3Gen oder Ihren Händler.
LED-Ausfall
Die LEDs des DermLite II Multispectral halten über 100.000 Stunden.
Sollte eines der 32 LEDs nicht leuchten, schicken Sie das Gerät an 3Gen
zur Reparatur.
Pflege und Wartung
Das DermLite II Multispectral ist für störungsfreien Betrieb konstruiert.
Besondere Einstellungen oder ein spezieller Service sind nicht erford-
erlich.Versuchen Sie bitte niemals das Gehäuse zu öffnen.
Reinigung und Sterilisation
Das DermLite-Gehäuse kann mit 70%igem Isopropylalkohol gereinigt
und desinfiziert werden. Alkoholische Lösungen oder Desinfektions-
mittel dürfen nicht an den optischen Geräteteilen angewandt werden.
Benutzen Sie keine aggressiven Reiniger und legen Sie das Gerät nicht in
Flüssigkeiten. Nicht autoklavieren!
Reinigen der Linse und des Polarisationsfilters
Linse und Polarisationsfilter dürfen als hochwertige fotografische Linsen
ausschließlich mit Standard- Linsenreiniger gereinigt werden und sind
vor chemischen Einflüssen zu schützen.

Introducción
El DermLite II Multispectral es un microscopio epiluminiscente de

claridad las lesiones cutáneas.
Una lente de 25 mm y 10 aumentos, combinada con un sistema de ilumi-
nación a cuatro colores de polarización cruzada, que permite encender
independientemente cada uno de cuatro juegos de ocho LEDs, hace
posible la perfecta visualización microscópica de la piel. Mientras un
juego de ocho LEDs produce una luz blanca sin destellos para visualizar
la piel como a la luz del día, cada uno de los otros tres juegos produce
una luz única de color que penetra a diferentes profundidades de la piel

Instrucciones de uso

vamos a examinar. Coloque el dispositivo a aproximadamente 1” (~25
mm) de la piel. Mantenga pulsado durante 2-3 segundos el botón de
corriente (A) situado en el lateral izquierdo de la unidad para activar los
LEDs.
Mire por la lente poniendo el ojo a una distancia de entre 1” (~25 mm)
y 4” (~100 mm) por encima del DermLite II. Mueva el dispositivo acer-
cándose y retirándose de la lesión para obtener el enfoque de imagen
deseado. Para obtener imagen en inmersión en aceite o para utilizar una
cámara, gire el selector espaciador (B) de modo que el marcador blanco
quede en posición horaria de las 12,00. Para un enfoque fino dentro de
una gama de +/- 1 mm, gire simplemente el selector a izquierda o a
derecha entre los marcadores de las posiciones horarias correspondien-
tes a las 11,00 y a la 1,00 (C).
PRECAUCIÓN: si se utiliza el DermLite II Multispectral para creación de
imagen por inmersión en aceite, ponga el aceite únicamente en la piel y
después coloque el espaciador de placa frontal extendido sobre el aceite.
No deje que el aceite entre en contacto con el puerto USB, con el puerto
de carga de CC ni con el compartimiento de la pila
Para conectar el DermLite II Multispectral con una cámara, el dispositivo
está equipado con un cable de 28 mm (D). Puede que haga falta un
adaptador anular sencillo (como una arandela escalonada de 28-37 mm)
para adaptar el aparato a la cámara que hayamos elegido. Para más in-
formación, le rogamos contacte con 3Gen o con una tienda de fotografía.
Placa frontal extraíble (E)
El DermLite II Multispectral está equipado con una placa frontal
extraíble. Para retirar esta pieza, gire el selector espaciador (B) para
extender el espaciador y desenrosque la pequeña arandela situada en la
parte delantera del espaciador.
Frecuencias de luz
El botón situado a la derecha y etiquetado con la palabra “MODO” (F)
nos permite conmutar entre cuatro juegos de ocho LEDs con distinta
frecuencia de luz. Cada vez que se enciende el aparato, se activa au-
tomáticamente la luz blanca de polarización cruzada que se utiliza para
examinar la pigmentación más profunda. Para visualizar la superficie
epidérmica con luz azul, pulse una vez el botón “MODO”. Para activar
la luz amarilla, pulse de nuevo el botón y si lo pulsa por tercera vez
obtendrá la iluminación roja. Vuelva a pulsar el botón para conmutar en
sentido contrario hasta pasar a la luz blanca.
Pila recargable
Al cabo de un mínimo de 4 horas de carga inicial, la pila de litio ofrece
hasta dos horas de funcionamiento continuado, lo que equivale a una
cantidad de energía suficiente para dar las imágenes de aproximada-
mente 600 lesiones a 30 segundos por cada exploración. Al descargarse
la pila, se apagará automáticamente la unidad y tendrá que recargarse.
Enchufe el cable de carga en el puerto redondo de carga de CC (G) y
se iluminará el indicador de carga rojo (H). Una vez que la pila esté
totalmente cargada, se encenderá el indicador verde (I). Opcionalmente
podemos utilizar un cable USB para cargar la unidad desde el puerto
USB (J).
PRECAUCIÓN: si realizamos la carga con un cable USB, el DermLite
II Multispectral debe conectarse únicamente al puerto USB de un
ordenador que cumpla el estándar IEC / EN 60950 para garantizar que
el producto cumple de forma continuada los requisitos establecidos en
la Directiva Europea sobre Dispositivos Médicos. Consulte el manual del
operario que le hayan suministrado con su ordenador para comprobar
que el mismo cumple el referido estándar.
Al cabo de unas 1.000 cargas, disminuye la capacidad de la pila y hay
que recambiarla. Para retirar la compuerta de la pila (K), pulse con los
pulgares los dos óvalos (L) y deslice hacia atrás la compuerta de la pila.
Desconecte el pequeño enchufe blanco de la pila y retire ésta. Inserte
una pila nueva y vuelva a conectar el enchufe de la pila. Vuelva a colocar
con seguridad la compuerta del aparato.
El DermLite II Multispectral se sirve de una pila especial de iones de
litio que únicamente se puede adquirir en 3Gen o en un concesionario
autorizado de 3Gen.
PRECAUCIÓN: no utilice bajo ningún pretexto ninguna pila que no sea la
diseñada para esta unidad. Si lo hace, podría dañarla. Tampoco utilice
bajo ningún pretexto cualquier otro cargador que no sea el suministrado
con la unidad.

Si tiene que devolver a 3Gen el DermLite para que sea revisado, le
rogamos llame a 3Gen antes de devolver el aparato, y le facilitaremos un
número exclusivo de devolución del producto (RMA).
No hay luz
Recargue del todo la pila y compruebe nuevamente. Si persiste esta
situación, envíe la unidad a 3Gen para su evaluación y/o reparación.

Fallo de LED
Los LEDs utilizados en el DermLite II Multisprectral se han diseñado
para aguantar más de 100.000 horas. Si falla alguno de los 32 LEDs,
contacte con 3Gen para su reparación.
Disfunción mecánica
Por favor, contacte con 3Gen para acordar una revisión.
Cuidado y mantenimiento
El DermLite II Multispectral se ha diseñado para que funcione sin
averías. No hay que ajustarlo ni hay que someterlo a revisiones específi-
cas. Nunca intente abrir el aparato por ninguna razón.
Limpieza y esterilización
El cuerpo del DermLite II Multispectral se puede limpiar o desinfec-
tar frotándolo con alcohol isopropílico (70 % vol.). No utilice alcohol o
desinfectantes en las zonas ópticas de la unidad. No utilice materiales
abrasivos en ninguna pieza del equipo ni lo sumerja en ningún líquido.
No lo someta a autoclave.
Limpieza de la lente y de los polarizadores
Las lentes y los filtros polarizadores deben recibir el tratamiento que
corresponde a un equipo fotográfico de alta calidad y se deben limpiar
con un dispositivo estándar para limpieza de lentes, protegiéndolos de
productos químicos nocivos.
