Operation Modes
Thisdevice providesoperational applicationswithAP,GatewayandClient(Infrastructure)modes,
whicharemutuallyexclusive.
Thisdevice isshippedwithconfigurationthatisfunctionalrightoutof thebox.Ifyouwanttochange
thesettingsinordertoperformmoreadvancedconfigurationorevenchangethemodeofoperation,
youcanMANUALLYswitchtothemodeyoudesiredbythemanufacturerasdescribedinthe
followingsections.
Access PointMode
Whenacting asanAccess Point(AP),thisdevice connectsallthestations(PC/notebookwithwireless
networkadapter)toawireless network.AllstationscanhavetheInternetaccess ifonlytheAccess
PointhastheInternetconnection.

GatewayMode
Thewireless connectionwill besetupfromapoint-to-pointlocal LAN intoapoint-to-multipoint
WAN. Thisdevice connectsall thestations(PC/notebookwithwireless function)toawireless network.
All stationscanhavetheInternetaccess ifonlythedevice hastheInternetconnection.

1. StartyourcomputerandmakesuretheconnectionbyanEthernetcablebetweenyourcomputer
andtheWireless PortableRouter.
2. StartyourWebBrowser.
3. In the Address box, entertheIPaddress of theWireless PortableRouter,asinthisexample,which
usestheWireless PortableRouter'sdefaultIPaddress: http://192.168.1.254
4. Afterconnectedsuccessfully, thefollowingscreenwillshowup. Simplyentertheusername
"admin"andpassword “admin”tologin.

Ifyou cannotconnect...
IftheWireless PortableRouterdoesnotrespond,pleasecheckfollowing:
•TheWireless PortableRouterisproperlyinstalled, LAN connectionisOK, andit
isalreadypoweredON.You cantesttheconnectionbyusingthe"Ping"
command:
•Pleasego to Start>Run >Enter cmd”commandin thecolumntoopen
theMS-DOS window.
•Enterthecommand: ping192.168.1.254
Ifno responseisreceived, eithertheconnectionisnotworking,oryourPC'sIP
address isnotcompatiblewiththeWireless PortableRouter'sIPAddress.(See
nextitem.)
•IfyourPCisusingafixedIPaddress,itsIPaddress mustbewithin therange
192.168.1.1.to 192.168.1.253 to becompatiblewiththeWireless PortableRouter's
defaultIPAddress of192.168.1.254.Also,theNetwork Mask mustbesetto
255.255.255.0.See Chapter4-PCConfiguration fordetailson checkingyourPC's

•EnsurethatyourPCandtheWireless PortableRouterareonthesamenetwork
