Snap Disk 10
The Adaptec Snap Disk 10 expansion array
has been specifically designed to provide
simple, scalable capacity expansion with a
minimum of downtime for the award-win-
ning Snap Server 4500. The Snap Disk 10
features four hot-swappable disk drives that
provide storage capacity, data availability,
and ultimate space efficiency in a slim, 1U
rack-mountable chassis. Add a Snap Disk 10
if you need a new database volume, disk-
based backup space or even to handle a spe-
cific task, like archiving system disk images
for quick bare metal restore times.
Eliminate Storage Complexity
While most vendors can only offer storage
expansion and additional RAID arrays,
Adaptec can expand your existing storage
volume onto a new RAID array without
rebuild time. The GuardianOS™ offers
Instant Capacity Expansion (I.C.E.) allow-
ing Snap Server volumes to immediately
expand from an existing Snap Server 4500
onto a newly attached Snap Disk 10, with-
out requiring time-consuming RAID
rebuilds. Volumes can be scaled, reconfig-
ured, and provisioned on the fly with no
impact to network users.
Intelligent Storage Budgeting
This is an ideal solution, especially when
budget pressures require thoughtful plan-
ning. A single Snap Server 4500 can support
up to two Snap Disk 10 arrays for a maxi-
mum of 3.6TB, allowing purchases to be
based on current needs and also offering
easy expansion as storage requirements
change. The Snap Disk 10 comes pre-con-
figured in RAID 5. Manage the Snap Disk
10 with a Web browser that accesses the
existing host server’s management console.
A Snap Disk 10 controller card (not includ-
ed) must be purchased separately and
installed in the Snap Server 4500 prior to
attaching the first Snap Disk 10. Each con-
troller has two connectors so only one card
is required for up to two Snap Disk 10
arrays. All other required components
(cables, software, etc.) are included with
each Snap Disk 10.
