2. About this operating manual
This symbol means: "Consult operating instructions". To achieve accurate
results, read the instructions for use carefully before use and follow all
instructions provided therein. Keep the instructions for use for future reference.
General information
- This operating manual describes the safe operation as well as the operation, care and
maintenance of the scale.
- Only compliance with the operating manual is considered intended use.
- Please read this operating manual carefully before connecting and using the scale. Failure
to observe this operating manual may result in injuries or damage to your product.
- Our products are constantly being developed and improved. For this reason, design and
technical modifications are possible at any time. However, this has no influence on the
content of this manual.
This operating manual provides you with the information you need to start up the scale quickly.
To obtain accurate results, please read the installation and operating manual carefully and
comply with the instructions contained therein. The scale may only be operated and maintained
by trained personnel.
Storage
The operating manual is part of the scale. It must be kept in the immediate vicinity of the scale
and must be easily accessible for everyone.
When reselling the scale, the operating manual must also be supplied.
Target group
This operating manual is intended for personnel who are responsible for setting up, operating,
care and maintenance of the scale. Personnel who operate the scale must have read and
understood this operating manual before using it for the first time.
3. Safety instructions
It is essential that you read, understand and follow all instructions in these instructions for use
as well as the country-specific installation standards, the applicable safety regulations and
accident prevention regulations.
- Handle the scale with care and always keep in mind that it is a precision measuring
instrument.
- Protect the weighing platform from impacts and vibrations and do not overload the scale.
- The scale may only be operated and maintained by trained and authorised skilled
personnel. Handling errors can lead to injuries or damage the scale.
- Before first use, make sure that the mains voltage and current type stated on the name
plate match the mains voltage and current type at the place of use.
- Lay the cables so that they cannot lead to a trip hazard.
- Lay the cables so that they cannot pose a risk of strangulation.
- Operate the device only within the permissible ambient conditions.
- Do not expose the scale to high temperatures, whether from neighbouring devices or direct
sunlight.
- Use the scale at constant ambient temperatures and avoid using in draughts, otherwise the
measurement results could be falsified.

4 LWX 00- 10408-Rev003-UM-en
- Place the scale as far as possible from other devices or sources that generate
electromagnetic field or other interferences (e.g. strong motors and portable and mobile HF
communication devices) as these can falsify the measurement results.
- Use only approved accessories and peripherals.
- Before cleaning the device, pull the mains adapter/plug out of the socket.
- Never clean the scale with abrasive or aggressive cleaning agents.
- Do not immerse the device in water or other liquids.
- If you have problems with this device, e.g. when setting up, maintaining or using, please
contact the authorised customer service. Do not open or repair the device yourself.
- Please notify the authorised customer service if unexpected operations or events occur.
- If the weighing system is not used for a longer period of time, it should be cleaned and
stored in a protective film. The addition of a drying agent is desirable.
DO NOT use the scale:
- If the mains adapter is damaged;
- If the mains adapter is not working;
- If the battery compartment has an unnatural bulge;
- After long storage in a humid environment.
In such cases, please contact authorised customer support.
4. Intended use
Your ADE scale is a quality product and was manufactured for use as a non-automatic scale.
The scale is used to determine the weight and price of goods to be weighed and is intended for
use in supermarkets, grocery stores, retail stores, markets and similar areas of application.
To determine the weight and price, carefully place the item to be weighed as centrally as
possible on the scale. The scale may be loaded with the maximum load (Max) specified on the
device and on the nameplate. After a stable measurement result has been determined, it can
be read off.
The scale must not be used for dynamic weighing. If small quantities are slowly added or
removed (e.g. filling liquids), this can lead to incorrect measurement results.
The device may only be used as intended. All applications of the device that are not mentioned
in the chapter “Intended use”, as well as non-observance of the safety instructions, are
considered improper use. It is the user of the device, but not the manufacturer, who assumes
liability for any resulting damage to property or personal injury resulting from misuse.
The use of accessories other than the original accessories supplied by the manufacturer may
void this warranty.
The eighing system may only be used for legal-for-trade eighing if it is
verified. The verification is invalid ithout a seal.
This device may not be modified ithout the manufacturer's permission.

LWX 00- 10408-Rev003-UM-en 5
5. Scope of delivery
Check the delivery contents for completeness as soon as you receive the scale. Carefully
unpack the scale and accessories and remove all packaging materials.
Included in the delivery are:
- Scale
- Column (consisting of two parts) to raise the customer display
- 4 screws (ISO 7046, M4 x 8)
- Power supply
- Operating manual
- Declaration of Conformity
On verified scales: Check the identity of the scale serial numbers and the
declaration of conformity. This is a mandatory requirement to use the scale in
legal metrology!
6. Start-Up the scale
1. Carefully unpack the scale and accessories and remove all packaging materials.
. Place the scale on a level, stable surface. Do not place the scale on a shaky or
vibrating table as this will cause distortion of measurement results.
3. Connect one end of the power supply to the power connector on the bottom of the
scale and the other end to the local power supply.
In this case, before connecting the supplied mains adapter to the scale,
make sure that the voltage on the nameplate matches the local po er
supply.
After the arm-up time (15 minutes), the scale is ready for use.
The arm-up time applies to every disconnection from the mains
(except battery mode).
4. Align the scale using the support feet. Make sure that the air bubble of the spirit level is
centred in the black frame.
Check the horizontal position of the scale
after every change of location!
5. Switch on the scale. When switching on the scale, the weighing platform must be
unloaded. The scale runs through a test programme and acknowledges the end of the
power-on sequence with a sound signal.
If the eighing platform is loaded during the po er-on sequence, the
scale is not properly ready for operation. S itch off the scale and turn
it on again.
6. For precise measurement results, the goods to be weighed must be placed in the
centre of the weighing platform. The goods to be weighed should not protrude beyond
the weighing platform.

6 LWX 00- 10408-Rev003-UM-en
Assembling the stand (optional)
1. Loosen the 4 screws (10) of the column mounting below the platform.
Be careful not to put too much pressure on the scale. The measuring
cell could other ise be irreparably damaged.
. Lift the customer display (1) out of the base and carefully pull the display cable out of
the scale housing.
3. Clip the two parts of the column together around the display
cable. Pay attention to the correct positioning of the column
parts (upper and lower end)!
4. Put the display on the column and screw both with the
enclosed countersunk screws.
5. Insert the column into the column mounting of the platform and screw both with the
screws removed in step 1. Make sure that the cable is not squeezed.
6. Set up the scale as previously described in chapter 6.

Taring
With this function, the user can weigh objects together with other items (such as container, film
or paper towel), without the weight of those items affecting the weighing result.
Place the objects to be tared on the platform (e.g.
container, foil or paper towel) and press the key.
In the “Weight” display area, the first line now shows
“0.000” and the second line the tare weight.
Place the goods to be weighed in the container. The
display now shows the net weight in the first line.
The tare weight is still displayed in the second line.
Remove the container from the scale together with the
goods to be weighed.
As a net weight, the scale shows the tared weight of the
container as a negative value.
After unloading the platform and pressing the key again, the scale returns to its initial
state and the Net display is cleared.
Manual tare
With this function, the tare value can be entered manually.
If the tare value of a container is known, you can enter the value using the … keys and
