2. INSTALLATION

Remove the Total Access 1500 Dual 4-Wi e TO f om
the ca ton and visually ensu e that damage has not
occu ed du ing shipping o handling. If damage has
occu ed, file a claim with the ca ie , then contact
ADTRAN. Refe to Warranty and Customer Service
section of this p actice.
The Dual 4-Wi e TO inse ts into any Access Module
slot (1 th ough 24) of the Total Access 1500 chassis.
To install the Dual 4-Wi e TO access module, pe fo m
the following steps:
1. Hold the unit by the f ont panel while suppo ting
the bottom side.
2. Align the ca d edges to the guide g ooved fo the
designated slot.
3. Inse t the ca d until the edge connecto seats
fi mly into the backplane.
4. Push the ejecto in place to ensu e the unit is fully
seated.
Compliance
Table 1 shows the Compliance Codes fo the Dual
4-Wi e TO. The Dual 4-Wi e TO complies with UL
1950, thi d edition. It is intended fo installation in
est icted access locations only and in equipment with a
Type “B” o “E” installation code.
This device complies with Pa t 15 of the FCC ules.
Ope ation is subject to the following two conditions:
1. This device may not cause ha mful inte fe ence.
2. This device must accept any inte fe ence eceived,
including inte fe ence that may cause undesi ed
ope ation.
Changes o modifications not exp essly app oved by
ADTRAN could void the use ’s autho ity to ope ate
this equipment.
Time Slot Assignments
Fo time slot assignments in the Dual T1 mode and in
the Quad T1 mode, efe to Table 2.
The Total Access 1500 platfo m can have multiple time
slots in the T1 data st eam assigned to each physical
slot in the channel bank. The Total Access 1500 allows
c aft selectable time slots using the elect onic
p ovisioning inte face. The system will automatically
map DS0s in the T1 as dete mined by the LIU
ope ational configu ation. Manual mapping is available
via the LIU menu.
Connections
Fou 50-pin male amphenol connecto s on the ea of
the Total Access 1500 chassis p ovide the inte connect
wi ing fo each of the access module physical slots.
The Dual 4-Wi e TO equi es P1 (T/R) and P2 (T1/
R1) fo the odd po ts of each access module, while P3
(T/R) and P4 (T1/R1) fo the even po ts. See Table 2
fo wi ing inte connect details.
