Upon delivery, c refully inspect the shipping cr te nd the m chine for d m ge. If d m ge is evident, s ve ll p rts of the shipping cr te so th t they
c n be inspected by the trucking comp ny th t delivered the m chine. Cont ct the trucking comp ny immedi tely to file freight d m ge cl im.
1 After removing the cr te, remove the wooden blocks next to the wheels.
2 Check the engine oil nd cool nt levels.
3 Check the hydr ulic oil level.
4 Re d the instructions in the Prep ring the M chine For Use section of this m nu l, then fill the fuel t nk.
6 Pl ce r mp next to the front end of the p llet.
7 Re d the instructions in the Oper ting Controls nd Oper ting the M chine sections of this m nu l nd st rt the engine. Slowly drive the m chine
forw rd down the r mp to the floor. Keep your foot lightly on the br ke ped l until the m chine is off the p llet.

OWING OR PUSHING A DISABLED MACHINE
CAU ION!
The m chine’s drive propelling pump is m nuf ctured with n djust ble tow v lve. This v lve prevents d m ge to the hydr ulic system
when the m chine is being towed/pushed short dist nces without use of the engine.
To ccess the v lve open the engine comp rtment cover nd door. Loc te the v lve s shown on top re r of the propelling pump. Use pliers or
5/16” (8 mm) open end wrench to turn the v lve 90 degrees, this diseng ges the hydrost tic lock between the motor nd pump.
The hydr ulic propelling pump c n be d m ged if the m chine is towed with the v lve in the norm l working position (A). Reference the illustr tions
below for the norm l working setting (A) (vertic l) nd the free wheeling towing setting (B) (horizont l). Note: If the tow v lve is left in free wheeling
(B) (horizont l) position the propelling pump c n’t drive the m chine FWD or REV. No d m ge will result, just re-set v lve to the norm l working setting
(A) (vertic l). Tow or push m chine no f ster th n norm l w lking p ce (2-3 miles per hour) nd for short dist nces only. If the m chine is to be
moved long dist nces the re r drive wheels needs to be r ised off the floor nd pl ced on suit ble tr nsport dolly.

1 CHOKE - primes the g soline engine for cold st rting.
2 DUST CONTROL LEVER - controls the v cuum system nd the v cuum filter sh ker. The v cuum system picks up dust r ised by the m in
broom. The filter sh ker cle ns the v cuum filter.
3 THROTTLE CONTROL LEVER (DIESEL) - controls the speed of the engine. When oper ting the m chine, the throttle control lever should be
in the full throttle position.
4 MAIN BROOM LEVER - r ises nd lowers the m in sweeping broom. The sweep position is for smooth floors. The full flo t position is for rough
floors.
5 HYDRAULIC FILTER LIGHT - indic tes when the hydr ulic oil filter should be serviced.
6 HYDRAULIC OIL HOT LIGHT - when this light glows, shut down the m chine immedi tely. Allow the m chine to cool down, then check for
problem in the hydr ulic system.
7 SCRUB BRUSHES ON/OFF SWITCH - r ises ( nd shuts off) the scrub brushes, or lowers ( nd st rts) the scrub brushes.
8 BROOM MOTORS ON/OFF SWITCH - st rts or stops the hydr ulic motors th t turn the m in nd side brooms.
9 SQUEEGEE RAISE/LOWER SWITCH - r ises nd lowers the squeegee. With the rocker switch on, the squeegee is in the utom tic mode.
R ising nd lowering is controlled by the forw rd/reverse drive ped l. The squeegee will r ise in reverse nd lower in forw rd.
10 SIDE BROOM RAISE/LOWER SWITCH - r ises or lowers the side broom.
11 SOLUTION CONTROL LEVER - controls the mount of solution dispensed to the scrub brushes.
12 FUEL GAUGE - indic tes the mount of fuel in the g soline or diesel fuel t nk.
13 OIL PRESSURE GAUGE - indic tes the engine oil pressure while the engine is running.
14 WATER TEMPERATURE GAUGE - indic tes the temper ture of the engine cool nt while the engine is running.
15 BATTERY METER - indic tes the level of b ttery ch rge.
16 HOUR METER - indic tes the ccumul ted hours of us ge.
17 HOPPER DUMP DOOR SWITCH - opens nd closes the hopper dump door.
18 HOPPER RAISE/LOWER SWITCH - controls the hydr ulic cylinder th t r ises the hopper for dumping.
19 KEY IGNITION SWITCH - controls the engine nd some p rts of the electric l system.
20 THROTTLE CONTROL SWITCH - controls the speed of the engine. When oper ting the m chine, the throttle control switch should be in the
full throttle position (lll).

22 HORN BUTTON - sounds the horn.
23 FORWARD/REVERSE DRIVE PEDAL - controls the m chine’s tr vel speed nd direction:
Push down on the B ck of the ped l to move the m chine B ckw rd.
Push down on the Front of the ped l to move the m chine Forw rd.
The SPEED of the m chine will incre se s the ped l is pushed closer to the floor. M ximum forw rd speed is f ster th n m ximum reverse
speed.
24 MAIN BROOM ADJUSTMENT KNOB - djusts the height of the m in broom to compens te for bristle we r.
25 PARKING BRAKE LEVER - locks the mech nic l p rking br kes on the front wheels.
26 HYDRAULIC OIL TANK - holds the hydr ulic system oil.
27 TIP-FORWARD SEAT COMPARTMENT - se t tips forw rd for ccess to the hydr ulic oil t nk. Eng ge prop b r for s fety.

• Inspect the m chine for d m ge nd oil or w ter le ks.
• Check the engine oil level.
• Check the fuel level.
• Check to see th t the hopper nd the recovery t nk re empty.
• Squeeze the rubber dust cup on the engine ir filter to rele se built-up dust.
• Check the ir filter service indic tor.

SCRUB BRUSHES
R ise the squeegee to llow ccess to the scrub brush re . Slide the scrub brushes under the four brush mounting pl tes nd lift them so th t the
lugs in the brushes p ss through the holes in the pl tes. Turn the brushes until they lock in pl ce.

FILLING HE SOLU ION ANK
The solution t nk fill (A), loc ted t the left re r corner of the m chine, h s 95 g llon (360 liter) c p city. Fill the t nk with the proper dilution of cle ning
Chemic l mixed with w ter ccording to the m nuf cturer’s recommend tions. If using powdered chemic l, mix it with w ter in bucket before
putting it into the m chine’s solution t nk.

Use only low-sudsing, non-fl mm ble, non-c ustic cle ning chemic ls intended for m chine pplic tion.

• USE ONLY HE FUEL SPECIFIED ON HE FUEL ANK DECAL.
On m chines with diesel nd g soline engines, dec l ne r the filler neck shows the proper fuel to use in the m chine. Before removing the c p
from the t nk, wipe ll dust nd dirt from the c p nd from the top of the t nk to keep the fuel s cle n s possible.
M chines with prop ne engines h ve mounting br cket for the prop ne t nk under the driver’s se t. A dec l ne r the br cket gives specific
inform tion bout the proper type of t nk to be used on the m chine.

MODEL 463685 (DIESEL ENGINE)
Fill the t nk with Number 2 Diesel Fuel if the m chine will be used in n re where the temper ture is 30° F hrenheit (0° Celsius) or higher. Use
Number 1 Diesel Fuel if the m chine will be used in n re where the temper ture is below 30° F hrenheit (0° Celsius).
NOTE: If the diesel m chine runs out of fuel completely, the fuel system must be bled before the engine c n be re-st rted. To void this situ tion,
fill the fuel t nk when the fuel g uge indic tes 1/4 t nk. Fuel t nk c p city is 12 g llons (45 liters).

MODEL 463684 (GASOLINE ENGINE)
FILL THE TANK WITH UNLEADED 87 OCTANE REGULAR GASOLINE. FUEL TANK CAPACITY IS 12 GALLONS (45 LITERS).

MODEL 463683 (PROPANE ENGINE)
Mount st nd rd 33 lb. liquid withdr w l prop ne t nk on the m chine, connect the fuel hose nd open the shutoff v lve on the t nk. We r gloves
when connecting or disconnecting the fuel hose. Shut the prop ne t nk service v lve OFF when the m chine is not in use.

The Hydro-Retriever 2067 is rider-type utom tic floor sweeping nd scrubbing m chine. It is designed to sweep up debris, l y down cle ning
solution, scrub the floor, nd v cuum dry ll in one p ss. The sweeping nd scrubbing oper tions c n lso be performed sep r tely. Reference
specific tions on p ge 26.

BEFORE S AR ING HE MACHINE
1 Be sure you underst nd ll m chine controls nd their functions.
2 Pl n your cle ning route. Arr nge long, str ight p sses with s few turns s possible.
3 Check the Br ke Ped l (21). The ped l should be firm.
If the ped l is “spongy” or f des under pressure, DO NOT DRIVE THE MACHINE. Report ll defects immedi tely to service personnel.

S AR ING HE DIESEL ENGINE
1 Turn the Key Switch (19) counter-clockwise to the “Pre-He t” position nd hold it there for 15-30 seconds to w rm the glow plug. A Glow Plug
indic tor (31) is mounted next to the Key Switch. This indic tor will turn red to show it is properly pre-he ted for cold st rts. (Skip this step if
the engine h s been running nd is lre dy w rm.)
2 Push the Throttle Lever (3) h lf-w y forw rd.
3 Turn the Key Ignition Switch (19) clockwise to the START position nd rele se it s soon s the engine st rts. If the engine does not st rt fter
cr nking for 15 seconds, rele se the key, w it for 1 minute nd try steps 1-3 g in.
4 Let the engine run t moder te speed for 5 minutes before using the m chine.
5 Push the Throttle Lever to the FULL THROTTLE position nd move the m chine round for 2 or 3 minutes t slow speed to w rm up the
hydr ulic system.
ALWAYS operate the machine with the hrottle Control Lever at full throttle. Use the Forward/Reverse Pedal (23) - not the Throttle Control
Lever - to control the speed of the m chine. The speed of the m chine will incre se s the ped l is pushed closer to the floor. Do not press the
Forw rd/Reverse Ped l until the engine h s st rted.

up the hydr ulic system.
ALWAYS operate the machine with the hrottle Control Switch at full throttle. Use the Forward/Reverse Pedal (23) - not the Throttle Control
Switch - to control the speed of the m chine. The speed of the m chine will incre se s the ped l is pushed closer to the floor. Do not press the
Forw rd/Reverse Ped l until the engine h s st rted.

SWEEPING
1 Push the Hopper R ise/Lower Switch (18) to the DOWN position to m ke sure the hopper is se ted properly.
2 Move the M in Broom Lever (4) to the SWEEP (middle notch) position.
Use the FULL FLOAT (l st notch forw rd) position only when sweeping extremely rough or uneven floors. Use t other times will only incre se
broom we r.
3 Push the Broom Motor Switch (8) ON to st rt the broom motors.
4 When sweeping dry floors, put the Dust Control Lever (2) to the ON position.
When sweeping floors with puddles, push the Dust Control Lever (2) to the OFF position before the m chine enters puddle. Put the lever b ck
to the ON position when the m chine is b ck on completely dry floor.
When sweeping wet floors, keep the Dust Control Lever (2) in the OFF position.
5 Lower the side broom (10) when sweeping long w lls or curbs. R ise the side broom when sweeping in open re s.
6 Adjust the Side Broom Speed Lever (28) so th t the side broom turns just f st enough to move debris w y from w lls or curbs nd into the
p th of the m in broom. Oper ting the side broom t the minimum effective speed will keep dust to minimum.
7 Drive the m chine str ight forw rd t quick w lking speed. Drive the m chine slower when sweeping l rge mounts of dust or debris or when
s fe oper tion dict tes slower speeds. Overl p p sses 6 inches (15 cm).
8 If dust comes out of the broom housing while sweeping, the dust control filter m y be clogged. The filter sh ker will stop utom tic lly, 15 seconds
fter the lever is rele sed. Le ve the lever in the forw rd position until the sh ker stops. Then move the lever b ck to the DUST CONTROL
ON position nd continue sweeping.
9 Check behind the m chine occ sion lly to m ke sure th t the m chine is picking up debris. Dirt left behind in the p th of the m chine usu lly
indic tes th t the m chine is moving too f st, the broom needs to be djusted, or the hopper is full.

EMP YING HE HOPPER
1 Turn the Broom Motor Switch (8) OFF.
2 Put the M in Broom Lever (4) to the UP position nd r ise the side broom.
3 Push the Dust Control Lever (2) forw rd to the SHAKE position. This will oper te the filter sh ker motor for 15 seconds. Do not move the lever
until the sh ker stops.
4 Drive the m chine close to l rge tr sh recept cle nd hold the Hopper R ise/Lower Switch (18) in the UP position until the hopper is ll the
w y up.
5 Move the m chine until the hopper is over the recept cle, then press the Hopper Dump Door Switch (17) to open the dump door. Close the
dump door when the hopper is empty.
6 Check the b ck of the hopper nd the front of the broom housing. Use broom, if necess ry, to remove litter from these re s. The b ck of
the hopper must se l tightly g inst the front of the broom housing for proper oper tion.
7 B ck the m chine w y from the recept cle until the hopper will cle r it, then lower the hopper.

SCRUBBING
1 Push the Hopper R ise/Lower Switch (18) to the DOWN position to m ke sure the hopper is se ted properly.
2 Put the Scrub Brush Switch (7) in the DOWN (ON) position. The brush drive ssembly will lower to the floor nd the brush motor will st rt
utom tic lly.
3 Position the Solution Control Lever (11) h lf-w y tow rd the front of its slot nd drive the m chine forw rd with the squeegee up. Then stop
the m chine nd look t the scrubbed re . There should be thin, even l yer of solution on the floor behind the m chine. If there re dry spots
in the scrubbing p th, push the lever forw rd for more solution. If the p th of w ter on the floor is wider th n the m chine, pull the lever b ck
for less solution. Once you find the best solution flow, note the position of the Solution Control Lever for future reference.
4 Lower the squeegee (9).
5 Begin scrubbing with slow, even forw rd ped l pressure. Overl p p sses 6 inches (15 cm). Turns m y be m de with ll functions oper ting.
When b cking up, the squeegee will r ise utom tic lly to prevent squeegee bl de d m ge. You m y w nt to shut the solution flow OFF to
prevent solution ccumul tion on turns.
Drive the m chine forw rd t norm l w lking speed for norm l scrubbing. If the floor is still dirty behind the m chine, drive slower. For very
dirty floors, “double scrubbing” m y be necess ry. Double scrubbing is the s me s norm l oper tion, only the squeegee is left in the up position.
This llows the cle ning solution more time to work on the floor. Then m ke second p ss with the squeegee down to scrub g in nd pick
up the solution. Do not “double scrub” too l rge of n re , or the solution will dry on the floor before the second p ss.
Check behind the m chine occ sion lly to see if ll the solution is being picked up. If there is w ter tr iling the m chine you m y be dispensing
too much solution, the recovery t nk m y be full or the squeegee tool m y need djustment. Note: The recovery t nk h s n utom tic flo t
shut- off to block the v cuum system. You c n tell when the flo t closes by the sudden ch nge in the sound of the v cuum impeller. When
the flo t closes, the recovery t nk must be emptied. The m chine will not pick up w ter with the flo t closed.
6 With full recovery t nk, Turn off the solution flow, r ise the scrub brushes, the squeegee nd the sweeping broom. Then drive the m chine
to proper dispos l site to empty the recovery t nk.

EMP YING HE RECOVERY ANK
1 Drive the m chine to proper dispos l site.
2 Remove the dr in hose from its stor ge comp rtment (lower right side of m chine, behind m in broom ccess door).
3 Direct the hose to proper dispos l site, remove the dr in plug.
4 Flush the t nk nd dr in hose with cle n w ter.
5 Put the plug b ck into the hose nd return the hose to its stor ge comp rtment.

MAIN BROOM MAIN ENANCE
Since the m in broom motor lw ys turns in the s me direction, the broom bristles eventu lly become curved. Curved bristles will reduce sweeping
perform nce. Improve sweeping perform nce by removing the broom nd turning it end-for-end. This procedure, known s “rot ting” the m in broom,
should be done whenever the bristles become curved.
Repl ce the m in broom when the bristles re worn to length of 2 inches (5 cm). Adjust the height of the m in broom whenever the broom is repl ced.
o rotate or replace the main broom...
1 Turn the key ignition switch off to stop the engine.
2 Put the m in broom lever in the sweep position.
3 Remove the tool stored under the driver’s se t.
4 Open the m in broom ccess door (loc ted on the right side of the
m chine under the oper tor’s comp rtment).
5 Remove the Bolt (A) th t holds the broom idler rm in pl ce. then pull
the idler rm out of the broom core.
6 Pull the m in broom out of the broom housing nd remove ny string
or wire wr pped round it. Also inspect the skirts t the front, b ck nd
sides of the broom housing. Repl ce the skirts if they re torn.
7 Turn the broom round (end-for-end) nd slide it b ck into the broom
housing. M ke sure th t the lugs on the broom drive hub (on the left
side of the m chine) eng ge the slots in the broom core.
8 Put the idler rm b ck into the broom core nd use the tool to tighten
the bolt th t holds it in pl ce.
9 Close nd l tch the door securely nd put the tool b ck into the stor ge
clips.
o Adjust the Main Broom...
1 Drive the m chine to n re with level floor nd set the p rking
br ke.
2 Put the broom motor switch in the on position nd the m in broom
lever in the sweep (middle notch) position. do not move the m chine.
3 Let the m in broom run in pl ce for 1 minute. This llows the broom
to polish “strip” on the floor. After 1 minute, r ise the broom, rele se
the p rking br ke nd move the m chine so th t the polished strip is
visible.
4 Inspect the polished strip on the floor.
If the strip is less th n 2-1/2 inches (6.3 cm) wide, turn the M in Broom
Adjustment Knob (B) clockwise 2 or 3 turns.
If the strip is more th n 2-1/2 inches (6.3 cm) wide, turn the M in
Broom Adjustment Knob (B) counter-clockwise 2 or 3 turn.
5 Repe t steps 1-4 until the polished strip is 2-1/2 inches (6.3 cm) wide.
The width of the polished strip should be the s me t both ends of the
broom. If the strip is t pered, move the m chine to different re nd
repe t steps 1-4. If the polished strip is still t pered, cont ct your
Adv nce De ler for service.
