1 INTENDED USE
The Alecto DVM-190 is a wireless audio/video observation system, suitable for
private use indoors. By default, the set comes with 1 baby unit, but the parent unit
is capable of showing the images of 4 baby units simultaneously or the images
of 8 cameras one after the other. Individual baby units are available under model
number DVM-191. See chapter 6 for registering the DVM-191.
2 FUNCTION OVERVIEW
2.1 PARENT UNIT:

2.2 ICONS ON THE DISPLAY OF THE PARENT UNIT:
While using the system, the following icons can appear in the display:
shows the reception strength
turns on when zoom mode is enabled
turns on while playing lullabies
turns on when the acoustic temperature alarm is activated
display of the actual temperature at the selected baby unit
indication of the sound level at the selected baby unit
indication of the sound level while adjusting
shows which baby unit is currently selected
battery level indication; scrolls while charging
turns on when the adaptor is connected with no battery inserted\
turns on when the alarm (wake-up) function is set

3 INSTALLATION
3.1 BABY UNIT:
Power supply:
1. Connect the wide plug of the 6V power adaptor to the
6V DC input on the right side of the baby unit.
2. Plug the adaptor into a 230V wall socket.
Make sure the baby cannot reach the baby
unit or wire. Place the baby unit at least 1 to 2
meters away from the baby and you can bund-
le cables that are too long with tape or cable
ties available specically for this purpose.
Wall-mounting:
A wall bracket is supplied for wall-mounting.
Mount this bracket to the wall and then screw
the baby-unit onto the bracket according to
the gure below.

Stand:
The bottom of the baby unit is provided with a stand connection point with a
screw thread of 6mm (1/4”). Use this connection to attach a stand (not included).
Positioning tips:
• For use as a baby monitor: place the baby unit at least 2 meters away from
your baby and make sure to safely tuck away the adaptor cable.
• The temperature protrudes from the rear of the baby unit. Make sure this
sensor hangs freely, unexposed to direct sunlight and avoid heat from e.g.
light bulbs.
• For optimal range, it is advisable to set up the baby unit as high as possible,
free from large metal surfaces.
• The baby unit is not waterproof and therefore only suitable for indoor use.

3.2 PARENT UNIT:
Power supply:
The parent unit can be powered directly by the included rechargeable battery or
via the supplied power adaptor with the small plug. As soon as you connect the
power adaptor, it will charge the battery allowing for mobile use of the parent unit.
Battery:
1. Open the battery compartment of the parent-unit by sliding off the battery
cover at the rear of the parent unit.
2. Install the supplied battery into the battery compartment making sure the me-
tal battery contacts touch the connections of the parent unit and then carefully
push the battery down until it clicks.
3. Slide the battery cover back into the parent unit.
Only install the supplied Li-Polymer battery (3.7V, 950mAh).

Power adaptor:
1. Connect the 6V power adaptor with the small plug to
the 6V DC input at the right side of the baby unit.
2. Plug the adaptor into a 230V wall socket.
Make sure nobody can trip or fall over the
adaptor cable. You can bundle cables that
are too long with tape or cables ties availa-
ble specically for this purpose.
Charing:
The battery starts charging as soon as you connect the
parent unit to the power adaptor and plug the adaptor
into a 230V wall socket.
• The indicator will light up as soon as and for as long as the battery is
charging. The indicator turns off when the battery is fully charged.
• If the parent unit is switched on and you are receiving images, the battery
status will be indicated in the top right corner of the display. This battery
symbol continues scrolling while the battery is being charged and stays green
when the battery is fully charged. This symbol turns red when the battery is
nearly exhausted.
• For initial use, charge the battery for at least 15 hours, even if the indicator
shows a fully charged battery.

• The charging circuit for the battery is managed electronically and there is no
risk of overcharging, this allows you to leave the adaptor connected at all
times.
• In case you will not use the set for a longer period of time (>3 months), please
make sure to disconnect the adaptor from the wall socket and remove the
battery from the parent unit. When starting to use the set again, make sure to
properly charge the battery.
Antenna:
Put the antenna straight up for optimal range.
Outdoor use:
The parent unit is not waterproof. If you use the parent unit outdoors, make sure
to protect it against moisture and sand.

4 USE
4.1 SWITCHING ON/OFF:
Parent unit:
Press and hold the button for 2 to 3 seconds to switch on the parent unit.
Baby unit:
Slide the ON/OFF switch to the ON position to switch on the baby unit and back
to the OFF position to turn off the baby unit.
4.2 CONNECTION INDICATOR:
As soon as you switch on the parent unit, the connection indicator LINK will start
ashing while the parent unit is searching for a baby unit. This indicator remains
lit as soon as the baby unit has been found.
4.3 PARENT UNIT VOLUME:
1. First press the VOL button, the volume icon will then light up in the
upper part of the display.
2. Repeatedly press the or button the increase or decrease the reception
volume.
When you switch off the volume, the indication will appear to show you
the volume has been switched off, also when the camera is turned off.

4.4 BABY UNIT VOLUME:
Repeatedly press the VOL + / - button to increase / decrease the playback volu-
me for lullabies and the volume for the talk-back function at the baby unit.
A short beep tone will sound when you reach the minimum or maximum level.
4.5 TALKING BACK:
Press the TALK button on the parent unit to talk back to the baby unit.
You can speak for as long as you keep the TALK button depressed.
You can use the + and – buttons to adjust the volume at the baby unit.
In case you have activated the lullabies, playback will be temporarily interrupted
while using the talk-back function.
The talk-back function is not available in split-camera mode.
4.6 PAN AND TILT:
• Use the and buttons to turn the camera to the left and right.
• Use the and buttons to turn the camera up and down.
4.7 ZOOM IN:
• Press the button to zoom in on the image.
• Press and hold the / / / buttons to view up, down, to the left or to the
right.
• Press the button again to restore the normal view.
The zoom function is not available in split-camera mode.

4.8 AUTOMATIC NIGHTVISION:
The baby unit is provided with built-in infra-red LEDs; these LEDs will automa-
tically switch on when the baby room becomes darker and they will switch off
again when it becomes light. The LEDs can illuminate objects up to a distance of
approximately 2 meters.
When it’s dark, that is when the night vision LEDs are switched on, the images
on the parent unit will be displayed in black and white.
Attention: infra-red light cannot be perceived by the human eye; that means you
cannot tell whether the infra-red LEDs are switched on with the naked eye.
Depending on the type of the infra-red LED, you might be able to see a red
glow.
4.9 RECEPTION INDICATION / OUT-OF-RANGE NOTIFICATION:
• In the upper left corner of the parent unit, the strength of the reception signal
from the baby unit is indicated:
: excellent reception, : normal reception, : acceptable reception
In all these case, images and sound are reproduced with the same quality.
• As soon as the parent unit is no longer receiving the baby unit’s signal (out
of range or baby unit is switched off), you’ll hear 5 notication tones once
and each minute the warning [Pairing failed] will appear, followed by [ Please
wait…]. The antenna icon and the LINK indicator will start ashing to
indicate loss of connection with the baby unit.
• In split-camera mode, [No Link] will appear in the place where otherwise the
camera image would be shown.

4.10 SWITCHING OFF THE DISPLAY:
By default, the display is switched on continuously. You can turn it off by briey
pressing the button, this will not inuence the sound.
Press a random button on the parent unit to switch the display back on.
– See paragraph 5.8 to turn on the display automatically when the baby unit
detects sound.
4.11 LULLABIES:
The baby unit provides 5 pre-programmed lullabies, which you can only start and
stop via the parent unit.
1. Press the Mbutton and use or to select [LULLABY]
2. Press the Mbutton and use or to select the desired lullaby (or select
[Play All] to play all lullabies consecutively
3. Press the Mbutton and select [Play]
4. Press the Mbutton and to start playback
5. Press the VIEW button to return to the camera view
–Use the + and – buttons to adjust the volume at the baby unit
–Playback will be ended automatically after 15 minutes or you can stop
playback earlier by repeating the instructions above, but in this case selec-
ting [Stop] at instruction 3.
–Using multiple cameras: you can set lullabies for each camera.

4.12 MULTI-CAMERA:
If you have registered multiple cameras at the parent unit, you can press the
VIEW button to switch to the images of the next camera.
–The order is ascending (CAM-1, CAM-2, ....., CAM-8).
–Cameras that are not registered will be skipped.
–In the upper left corner of the display, you’ll see an indication of which camera
is currently in communication with the parent unit.
–Cameras that are registered, but that are not in communication with the pa-
rent unit, will be displayed but their image will show [Please wait…] / [Pairing
failed].
–The unit will NOT automatically switch to a camera where sound is being
detected.
–See paragraph 5.2 for all other display options when using multiple baby units
and see chapter 6 regarding registering and deregistering additional baby
units.

5 MENU CONTROLLED FUNCTIONS AND SETTINGS
5.1 INTRODUCTION:
The DVM-190 provides various user settings you can easily set up via a menu on
the display.
1. press the Mbutton to open the menu
2. scroll through the menu options using or
3. press the Mbutton to select a setting or function or press / to adjust a
setting
4. press the VIEW button to leave the menu. The menu will be closed automa-
tically and the normal display will be restored if you press no buttons for 30
seconds.
Press the button to go back one step in the menu tree.
5.2 DISPLAY MODE: (only applicable when using multiple baby units)
1. Press the button Mand use or to select [MONITORING MODE]
2. Press the button Mand use or to select:
[Single Baby Unit] to continuously view a one particular camera; to this
end, you do have to select the desired camera using the of button and
pressing the M button
[Multi Baby Unit] to view all registered cameras simultaneously; after pres-
sing the M button, the images of cameras 1-4 will be shown at the same
time; when using more cameras, the unit will repeatedly switch between
showing cameras 1-4 and cameras 5-8

Only the image shown with an upper and lower dotted line is ‘live’ and all
other images are frozen.
In this mode, no sound is reproduced and the talk-back function is
unavailable.
You can view the ‘live’ images on full screen by pressing the VIEW button,
after several seconds the multi-display will be automatically restored.
When all registered baby units are set to sensitivity level 1~4 and all baby
units are switched off because no sound is being detected, the display will
turn black. As soon as one of the baby units detects sound, the display
will turn back on in Multi-camera mode. This means you only know that
one of the baby units has detected sound, you’ll know which baby unit
after you activate the Single Baby Unit mode and check all baby units one
by one.
[Patrol mode] to view all cameras one after the other; you’ll see the images
of all registered cameras one after the other in intervals of 8 seconds or you
can press the VIEW button to instantly go to the next camera.
In this mode, the unit will NOT automatically switch to the camera where
sound is being detected.
If only one camera is registered, these display options are not applicable.

5.3 MENU LANGUAGE:
Use this option to set the language in which the various instructions are shown on the
display:
1. press the Mbutton
2. use or to select [LANGUAGE]
3. use or to select the desired language
4. press the VIEW button to save your selection and leave the menu
5.4 CONTRAST AND BRIGHTNESS:
To adjust the display contrast and brightness, follow these steps:
1. press the Mbutton
2. use or to select [ DISPLAY ]
3. press the Mbutton
4. use or to select [Brightness] or [Contrast]
5. press or to adjust the setting
6. press the VIEW button to save your selection and leave the menu
5.5 ALERT TONE:
You can set the parent unit to sound an alert tone when the battery is low, when
the parent unit has lost the connection with the baby unit or when the baby is
crying loudly while the volume on the parent unit is set to 0 (no sound).
