Delayed Ignition
Burnershouldignite within 4 seconds. If burner does not
ignite within 4 seconds turn control knob to OFF position.
Try burner again. If burner still does not ignite in 4
seconds,contactanauthorizedservicer.

Unpacking Cooktop
• Removeallpacking and printed material packed
with cooktop.
• Slide cooktop out of box.
• Removegrates,burnerbowls,andpressure
regulatorfrombox.
• To avoid damage, do not slide cooktop across
countertop.
Countertop Cutout and Clearances
Preparecountertopopeningaccordingtodimensions
shown in diagrams. Area beneath cooktop must be
accessiblefor adjustment of gas pressure regulator
unlesspressure regulator is mounted in burner box.

Installation

Securing Cooktop to Countertop
1. Removegrates,burnerbowls, and burner control
knobs from cooktop.
2. Remove2 screws attaching burner top to burnerbox.
• Locatedin burner cutout on outer edge.
3. Liftburnertopoff burner box.
4. Place burner box in cutout and locate holes in burner
boxflange.
5. Drillhole through holes in flange into countertop.
• Use size 5/64 inch drill bit.
• Donot drill through countertop.
6. Insertscrews provided into holes and tighten until
cooktop is secure.
Removing and Reinstalling Cooktop
1. Close gas connection and disconnect gas supply.
• See GasSupply Connection section.
2. Disconnect electrical connection.
• See Electrical Installation section.
3. Removegrates,burnerbowls, and burner control
knobs from cooktop.
4. Removescrews attachingburner top to burner box.
• Locatedin burner cutout on outeredge.
5. Liftburnertopoff burner box.
6. Locate screws attaching burner box to countertop
andremove.
7. Lift burner box out of cutout.
8. Reverseproceduretoreinstallcooktop.
Converting for Use with Natural Gas or
Propane Gas
Thiscooktop arrives from factory adjusted for use with
natural gas. If using LP/propane gas is desired, cooktop
mustbeconverted.
Converting Type 1 Pressure Regulator for
Use with LP/ Propane
1. Remove pressure regulator cap using a wrench.
2. Removeplastic insertfrompressure regulator cap.
• Plastic insert fits tightly in cap.
3. Reverse plastic insert and carefully push plastic
insert firmly into hole in pressure regulator cap.
• Insertmust show “LPG10” or “LP10”.
4. Placepressure regulatorcapon pressure regulator
andtighten.
• Insertshould not disturb spring in body of regulator.
Converting Type 2 Pressure Regulator for
Use with LP/Propane
1. Remove pressure regulator cap using a wrench.
2. Reversepressure regulator cap.
• Insert must show “LP”.
3. Placepressure regulatorcapon pressure regulator
andtighten.

4. Removeburner andventuritube.
5. Unscreworifice hoods and remove.
• Naturalgas orifice hood has a larger hole than
LPhood.

• LPOrifice—#68
6. Removemanifold cover.
7. Locateorifice hoods(#56) wired to gas manifold and
screwonto valve.
• Donotover tighten orifice hoods.
8. Attachunused orifice hoods to manifold
forfutureuse.
9. Reassemblecooktop.
Converting Burners for Use with
LP\Propane
1. Removegrates,burnerbowls, and burner control
knobs from cooktop.
2. Remove2 screws attaching burner top to burnerbox.
• Locatedin burner cutout on outer edge.
3. Removescrews attachingburners to support bracket.
4. Removeburners and venturi tubes.
5. Unscreworificehoods and remove.
• Naturalgas orifice hood has a larger hole than
LPhood.
• NaturalGas Orifice—#56
• LPOrifice—#68
6. Removemanifold cover.
7. Locateorifice hoods(#68) wired to gas manifold and
screwonto valve.
• Donotovertightenorificehoods.
8. Attachunused orifice hoods to manifold
forfutureuse.
9. Reassemblecooktop.

CAUTION
To avoid property damage, maximum gas supply
pressure must not exceed 14 " WCP.
Manifold Connection
Pressureregulator and gas manifold must be connected
tocooktop before connecting gas supply.Depending on
installationrequirements, install pressure regulator inside
or outside of burner box. Gas supply may enter through
bottom or right side of cooktop. If street ell or pressure
regulator is attached directly to manifold, manifold must
beremovedfrom cooktop. See appropriate section that
followsforconnectionprocedure.
• A manual shutoff, not supplied with cooktop, must
be installed in an accessible location outside of
cooktop.
• Use joint compound that is resistant to action of
propanegas on all male pipe threads.
• Usesuppliedpressure regulator only.
Pressure Regulator Connection
Pressureregulator has 2 ½-inch NPT inlets. Remove plug
frombottom inlet of pressure regulator to create 90°
connection.Removeplug from side inlet of pressure
regulator to create a straight connection. Locate pressure
regulator according to gas supply location.
• If gas supply is located on side of cooktop, screw
pressureregulator onto side inlet of gas regulator.
• Donot over tighten regulator whenattaching to gas
manifoldpipeor hardpipe. Overtightening may
crackregulator.
• Supportregulator when installing gas supply.
Manifold to Street Ell
A street ell is a 90° gas pipe fitting with a male NPT
threadon one end and a female NPT thread onother end.
To connect cooktop manifold topressure regulator using
street ell, remove gas manifold from cooktop. Street ell
doesnot clear burner box when screwing ontomanifold.
When street ell is used, pressure regulator is attached
outside bottom of burner box.
1. Placecooktop on work surface, and removegrates,
burnerbowls, and burner control knobs from cooktop.
2. Remove2 screws securing top to remove top.
3. Removeknockout inbottom of cooktop.
4. Removemanifold cover.
5. Remove3screwssecuringmanifoldtoremove
manifold.
• 1 of 3 screws located in front of burner box.
6. Attach street ell to manifold.
7. Reassemblemanifoldandcooktop.
8. Attach pressure regulator to street ell through bottom
of cooktop.
Gas Installation Requirements
Before connecting this appliance to gas piping system,
confirm that installation meets requirements of local
codes or, in absence of local codes, National Fuel Gas
Code,ANSIZ223.1-LatestEdition.
Installationofappliancesdesigned for manufactured
(mobile) home installation must conform with the
ManufacturedHomeConstructionandSafetyStandard,
Title 24 CFR, Part 3280 or, when such standard is not
applicabletheStandardfor Manufactured Home
Installation,ANSI A225.1/NFPA501A-Latest Edition,
withlocal codes, or the standard CAN/CSA-Z240MH,
“MobileHomes”, and the local code where applicable.
In Canada, installation of this appliance is to be in
accordancewith CAN-B149.1 or B149.2 installation code
forgasappliances.
When installed in mobile housing, installation is to be in
accordancewithCSAstandard Z241.1 gas equipped
mobilehousing.
Gas Supply Pressure
• Theappliance and its individual shutoffvalvemustbe
disconnected from the gas supply piping system
during any pressure testing of that system at test
pressures in excess of ½ psig (3.5kPa)
(14"WCP).
• Theappliance must be isolated from gas supply
piping system by closing its individual manual shutoff
valveduringanypressuretestingofthe gas supply
piping system at test pressures equal to or less than
½ psig (3.5kPa) (14" WCP).
• Gassupplypressurefor checking regulator setting
must be at least 1" WCP above manifold pressure
shownonratinglabel.

Manifold to Pressure Regulator
To connect cooktop manifold directly to pressure
regulator, remove manifold from cooktop. Pressure
regulatordoesnot clear burner box when screwed
ontomanifold.
1. Placecooktop on work surface, and removegrates,
burnerbowls, and burner control knobs from cooktop.
2. Remove2 screws securing top to remove top.
3. Removemanifold cover.
4. Remove3screwssecuringmanifoldtoremove
manifold.
• 1 of 3 screws located in front of burner box.
5. Attachpressure regulatorto manifold.
6. Reassemblecooktop.
Manifold to Hardpipe
To install pressure regulator without removing manifold,
attach ½ inch NPT female coupler and nipple to manifold.
Whenhardpipe is used, pressure regulator is attached
outside right side or bottom of burner box if 90° elbow is
used.
1. Placecooktop on work surface, and removegrates,
burnerbowls, and burner control knobs from cooktop.
2. Remove2 screwssecuringtop and remove top.
3. Screw½ inch NPT female coupler ontomanifold.
• Use joint compound that is resistant to action of
propanegas on all male pipe threads.
4. Screw ½ inch NPT nipple into coupler.
• Threadsof nipple must extend beyond burner box.
5. Attach regulator to ½ inch NPT nipple.
6. Reassemblecooktop.
Gas Supply Connection
Afterstreet ell, pressure regulator, orhardpipe is
attached to manifold, attach gas supply.
• Connect gas supply to regulator using hard pipe or
aflexibleconnector. Pressure regulator supplied
with this appliance has a ½ inch NPT female
connection.Seefigurebelow.
WARNING
To avoid property damage or personal injury,
only use a new flexible connector that is AGA or
CGA design certified.
• Do not use an old connector.
• Do not reuse a connector after moving
appliance.

Testing for Gas Leaks
After final gas connection is made, turn on manual gas
valve and test all connections in gas supply piping and
cooktop for gas leaks.
1. Place soap suds on connection.
• Bubbles appear if leak is present.
2. Ifbubblesappear, shut offgas supply valve.
3. Tighten joint if leak is at factory fitting.
• If leak is not at factory fitting, unscrew, apply more
joint compound, and tighten to correct leak.
4. Retestconnection for leak after tightening.
• Retest any connections that were disturbed.
Electrical Installation Requirements
Installation of this product must conform with local codes
or in the absences of local codes, with current Canadian
GasInstallationCodeCAN/CGA-B149.2. If an external
electrical source is used when the appliance is installed,
it must be electrically grounded in accordance with local
codes or, in the absence of local codes, with the current
National Electric Code ANSI NFPA 70, or CSA Standard
C22.1, Canadian Electric Code, Part 1.
All electrical connections are to be made in accordance
withCSA Standards Z240.6.1 electrical requirements for
mobilehomes.
Use a 120 volt, 60 hertz, 3-prong receptacle protected by
a 15 amp circuit breaker or time delay fuse.
A qualified electrician should confirm the outlet is
properlygrounded.Cooktopincludes4footpower cord
attached to bottom of cooktop at back, left corner.
Ifa 2-prong outlet is encountered, cooktop owner must
replace outlet before using cooktop. Do not cut off cord or
removegroundingplug.
WARNING
To avoid property damage or serious personal
injury, never use a lighted match to test for gas
leaks.
Operation
Operating Burners
1. Push and turn burner control knob to LITE position.
• Burner sparks until gas ignites.
2. Turnburner control knob to desired setting.
3. Turnburner control knob to OFF position when
finished.
Delayed Ignition
Burnershouldignite within 4 seconds. If burner does not
ignite within 4 seconds turn control knob to OFF position.
Try burner again. If burner still does not ignite in 4
seconds,contactanauthorizedservicer.
Adjusting Burner Flame
Properlyadjusted burner flames are clean and blue with a
distinct inner cone approximately ¼" to ½" long.
• If burner flame is too large or small, See Adjusting
Burner Flame Size section.
• Ifburner flame is blowing or noisy, reduce airflow to
burner. See Adjusting Airflow to Burner section.
• If burner flame is soft and lazy, increase airflow to
burner. See Adjusting Airflow to Burner section.
Adjusting Airflow to Burner
1. Removecontrolknobs, grates, and burner bowls.
2. Removescrews attachingburner top to burner box.
• Screws located in burner cutout on outer edge.
3. Loosen air shutter lock screw.
4. Openorclose air shutter depending on appearance
ofburner flame.
5. Afterburnerflameisproperlyadjusted,tighten air
shutter lock screw.
6. Reassemblecooktop.
Adjusting Low Burner Flame Size
1. Push and turn burner control knob to LITE position.
• Burner sparks until gas ignites.
2. Set flame to low position.
3. Removeburner control knob.
4. Holdvalve stemand turn screw in center of burner
controlstem using small standard screwdriver until
flame is adjusted.
5. Replacecontrol knob.
6. Push and turn burner control to test burner flame.

Cooking Utensils
• Use proper pan size. Do not use utensils that
overhanggratebymorethan1inch.
• Use care when using glazed cooking utensils.
Someglass,earthenware,or other glazed utensils
breakduetosudden temperature changes.
• Select utensils without broken or loose handles.
Handlesshouldnot be heavy enough to tilt pan.
• Select utensils with flat bottoms.
• Do not use a wok with a ring stand.

Testing Pan for Flatness
For best cooking results, use a pan with a flat bottom.
Determine if pan has a flat bottom.
1. Rotate a ruler along bottom of pan. If pan is not flat,
gapsbetweenbottomofpanandedge of ruler occur.
2. A small groove or mark on a pan does not effect
cookingtimes.However, if a pan has a gap, formed
rings, or an uneven bottom, it does not cook
efficiently and in some cases may not boil water.
Cleaning Cooktop, Burners, and Grates
Clean cooktop and grates using damp cloth and soapy
water.If necessary, cleanwith nonabrasive cleaners or
pads.Dry thoroughly when finished to avoid rusting.
• Donot use harsh powders, oven cleaners, scouring
pads, or steel wool.
Cleaning Burner Ports
Use pipe cleaners to clean burner ports.
• Do not use tooth picks to clean burner ports. Tooth
picks can break off and clog ports.
Lighting Burner without Electricity
If power is not available to light burner, light burner with a
match.
1. Hold lighted match ½ inch from burner head.
2. Push and turn burner control knob to LITE position.
• Removehand when burner ignites.
3. Turnburner control knob to OFF position when
finished.
