Intended Use
• The product is designed for use as a non-
contact temperature measurements up to
932 °F (500 °C).
• The product measures the surface temperature
only. It does not measure the internal temperate
of an object.
• The temperature is measured by using infrared
radiation (IR) and scanning the infrared energy
an object emits.
• The product is especially suited for measuring
the temperature of hot, difficult to reach or
moving objects.

10
EN
• The product cannot measure through
transparent surfaces, for example glass or
water).
CAUTION This product is not a substitute

Field of View
• The meter’s field of view is 12:1. This means
that if the product is 12 inches from the target,
the diameter of the object under test must be
at least 1 inch (2.5 cm). Make sure that the
target is larger than the unit’s spot size. The
smaller the target, the closer you should be
to it. When accuracy is critical, make sure the
target is at least twice as large as the spot size.
• The measurements should normally be made
less than 2 feet (60 cm) from the target.
• Steam, dust, smoke, etc. can cause inaccurate
measurements.
• To find a hot spot, aim the meter outside the
area of interest then scan across (in an up and
down motion) until the hot spot is located.

Emissivity
• Most organic materials and painted or oxidized
surfaces have an emissivity of 0.95.
• Inaccurate readings might occur while
measuring shiny or polished metal surfaces.
Tocompensate for this, cover the surface to be
measured with masking tape or flat black paint.
• Measure taped or painted surfaces when the
tape or painted surface reaches the same
temperature as the material underneath.
