•For use on rechargeable lead acid batteries only, including; conventional, maintenance free,
deep cycle, gelled-type, and valve regulated batteries.
•Not intended for use as a DC power supply.
•Beware of correct polarity when connecting charger.
•Do not block or obstruct cooling fan or vents during operation.
•Outer case may be warm to the touch during operation.
•The charger comes with a 2 year replacement warranty. However, damage due to neglect or
misuse will not be included in the warranty coverage.
DESCRIPTION & SPECIFICATIONS
The AMPOWER Red 12 Aviation Battery Charger is a fully automatic 3 stage charger.
• For use on any type of 12 volt DC rechargeable lead acid battery –including: conventional,
maintenance free, deep cycle, gelled-type battery.
• Charging profile: modified constant current charge that automatically switches to a constant
finishing voltage then to a float standby.
• Current limiting with reverse polarity and short circuit protection.
• Finishing voltage: 2.28 volts per cell float; 2.4 volts per cell finishing.
• Full load at 2.1 volts per cell continuous – 100% duty cycle.
• Output Bulk/Boost/Equalizer/Absorption charge voltage 14.6 VDC ± 0.2 V.
• Output Float charge voltage 13.7 VDC ± 0.2 V
• Automatically responds to the condition of the battery and follows battery impedance to end
of charge cycle.
• It can be left on indefinitely without causing damage –it will condition your battery and
prevent harmful sulfation buildup.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Check the “Start/Stop” switch to ensure it’s in the “Stop” position.
2. Connect the Red alligator clip to the positive/+ battery terminal, and the Black alligator
clip to the negative/- battery terminal.
3. Plug the charger to an AC power source.
4. Press the “Start” switch to start the charging sequence.
INDICATIONS
1. “Red”LED: there is power to the unit and the “Start”switch is turned on.
2. “Amber / Green” LED (dual colored LED): “Amber –Bulk / Absorption Charge”, “Green –
Ready / Float Charge”. Charger will automatically switch to “Float Mode” and can be
left on continuously without harming the battery.
3. “Red” flashing LED: means the charger does not see a load at the battery due to a
“reverse polarity” or “open/blown fuse” condition. Fuse located on front of unit –use
5AMP / 250V fuse only.
4. Fan runs at a higher speed during bulk/absorption charge mode than it does during float
charge.
