1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction
The TD8403/TD8412 and TD8803/TD8812 diallers are a series of stand-alone alarm communicators.The
diallers are programmed via a CD3008 or compatible keypad.The keypad must always have remote address
position no.1. The same keypad may be used to operate the CD-control panel or CS350 which is at-
tached to the control panel bus of the dialler. Data entered at the keypad is sent to the control panel until
the dialler recognises an engineer or user code.Thereafter the keystrokes are no longer sent to the
control panel, until the dialler message ‘LEAVE DIALLER’ is terminated by pressing the .-key.
- The dialler user and engineer code must be different from any panel code. In case
equal codes are used, the keypad will not be accessible from keypad 1.
If a control panel, other than the CD Advisor ® range or CS350 is used, the keypad can be removed after
programming.
The latest series of TD800 diallers is based on Aritech’s successful RD62 series.The RD-diallers receive
alarm messages from the control panel in SIA format. For example: BA01 for an burglar alarm in zone 1 or
FA02 for a fire alarm in zone 2.The programming of the TD is therefore based on these events. SIA events
are assigned to a channel in fast format and to a telephone number.
1.2 How to use this manual
This manual describes how the dialler should be installed and programmed. Read through the manual
carefully to obtain the best performance from the dialler.

2. INSTALLATION
2.1 How to install
Completely disconnect the control panel from all power before installing dialler.
2.1.1 Aritech CS350 control panel
• Place the TD dialler behind the circuit board of the CS350, with the terminals in line with the terminals of
•the CS350 PCB.
• Connect the dialler to the telephone line, taking any local or regional regulations into account.
• Connect the dialler to the CS350 as shown in figure 1.
• Position any optional equipment such as the voice module.
• Reconnect to the mains and begin programming via keypad 1 (DIP switch set to 0000, all off).

3. DIALLER ENGINEER MENU
Enter the engineer code 07812 to access the engineer menu.To exit from the engineer menu, press end
xuntil [LEAVE DIALLER] appears, then press Accept .. When the dialer is connected to the CS350 or
an Advisor CD34 or CD72 panel, the engineer code can be entered when the time or date is displayed.

3.1 Telephone / Account numbers
3.1.1 Central station 1 to 6
• Telephone numbers
Program up to six separate central station telephone numbers.An account number MUST be programmed
for each Central Station telephone number.

• Account numbers
• Program an account number of up to 8 digits.
*Some central stations keep their account nos. to a maximum of 4 figures.In this case, do
not program more than 4 figures.
• Protocol
• Receiving protocol of the central station and / or other receiving facility.
- SIA: Conforms to the SIA protocol level 1(300Bd / FSK) in accordance with the American SIA
standard.
- Fast Format: Aritech 8 or 16 channel DTMF protocol: the handshake frequency can be set up using
the "Protocol Options" menu (1400 or 1600 Hz).
- CID: The contact ID protocol.The data is transmitted using DTMF.
- Paging: Sends a message, consisting of a maximum of 14 characters, to a Semadigit receiver.
The message is programmed using the "Protocol Options" menu.
- Voice: Sends one or more previously recorded messages (maximum 4 messages) to a
telephone.The messages are programmed using the ‘Protocol Options’ menu.

3.1.2 Dual / Alternate reporting
You may program “dual” or “alternate” reporting of messages to the central station.
• DUAL: Dual means that alarms are reported to ALL central station numbers programmed for that particular
type of alarm.
• ALTERNATE: Alternate means that the alarms are reported to ONLY ONE of the central station numbers
programmed for that particular type of alarm.
• EXAMPLE:Panic alarm is programmed to report to central stations 1, 2 and 4.With the “Dual” option all panic
alarms are reported to ALL these Central Station numbers.With the “Alternate” option the dialler will call
each of the numbers in turn:first number 1, then number 2, then number 4, then number 1 again, etc..The
Dialler will close down on receipt of the first "Call Successful" Kiss-off.
3.1.3 Central station 1 attempts
Number of attempts to dial telephone number 1 before the dialler attempts to call the next number.
3.1.4 PABX no.
Where the dialler has to operate via an internal (PABX) switchboard, it may be necessary to dial a prefix
number before an outside line can be obtained.The dialler can be programmed to dial a prefix of up to SIX
digits.The PABX number can also be used to supplement telephone numbers with 16 digits.The first digit of
the PABX number must be set for wait for dialling tone [t].The [WAIT FOR DIALLINGTONE] option must be
set to [NO] in the dial options menu. In this way the telephone number can be extended to 21digits.
3.1.5 Previous menu
This menu option returns you to the first column of the menu structure.
3.2 Dialling options
This part of the program relates to the dialling formats available and the types of dialling tones on the
telephone lines.
3.2.1 Pulse / Tone dialling
Pulse (dial) or DTMF (touch tone) dialling must be selected in accordance with the parameters of the
telephone line to be used.
Remark forTD8803/TD8403.
Although this equipment can use either loop disconnect or DTMF signalling, only the performance of the
DTMF signalling is subject to regulatory requirements for correct operation. It is therefore strongly
recommended that the equipment is set to use DTMF signalling for access to public or private emergency
services. DTMF signalling also provides faster call set up.
3.2.2 Wait for dialling toneYes / No
The dialler can be programmed not to dial until it receives the correct dialling tone.Conversely, you can opt
to have the dialler dial after 5 seconds, even if no correct dialling tone has been received.
3.2.3 Call interval ss
The time interval between individual dialling attempts can be set to 5 or 60 seconds.
3.2.4 Retry period mm
If the dialler has been unable to send a message after the programmed number of dialling attempts, it
hangs up and starts again after the set retry period .This period can be set to between 0 and 90 minutes.
* Program[0] if the dialler muststop after the number of programmed' diallingattemps 'or after
a new activation. Maximum 100 attempts are possible per activation.

3.2.5 No of attempt nn
Enter the number of dialling attempts at connection per telephone number.The number of attempts can be
set to between 1 and 12.
3.2.6 FTC nn
Enter the number of dialling attempts at connection per telephone number, before the dialler sends the
signal for [No forwarding] to the collector output (TD8803/TD8812 only).The number of attempts can be set
to between 1 and 15.
3.3 Inputs
3.3.1 Selecting SIA events for the inputs
Each hardware input is assigned an SIA event. This menu option allows you to determine which event
should be reported by the input. The table below gives an overview of SIA events. In SIA the event is
reported with the number of the hardware input as the extension. If hardware input 2 reports an HA event,
the central station will receive HA02. A test call generated by the dialler will be reported as RP00, a low
voltage at the power input of the dialler is reported as YT00. If these events are forwarded to a hardware
input, the input number is added as an extension.It is therefore possible to generate a test message or low
voltage alarm via an external source.

3.3.2 Restore (restore message)
The input numbers are displayed on the keypad which will send a restore.
RP andYS do not send a restore [signal], even if the input is set to restore.
1. Press £or ¢until the cursor is placed below the input to be altered. [12345678]
2. Press 0to disable a restore for that input. [12.45678]
3. This option can be reversed by repeating steps 1 and 2.
3.3.3 Trigger NO / NC
The input numbers displayed on the keypad are normally open inputs.If an N/O input closes (short-circuiting
to negative), an activation is reported. The restore message is reported when the input re-opens. These
reactions can be reversed by setting an input to be normally closed.
1. Press ¢or £until the cursor is under the input to be altered [12345678].
2. Next press 0to make the selected input to operate as normally closed. [12. 45678].
3.This option can be reversed by repeating steps 1 and 2.
3.3.4 Delayed events
The input numbers are displayed on the keypad which must be active for a certain length of time before they
can be reported.This is programmed in [ Event delay ].
☛It is not possible to delay the restore of events.
3.3.5 Delay ss
This is the delay period (set at between 1 and 99 seconds) during which a signal must be present for a
certain delayed event before the activation is reported.
☛If the alarm condition is restored before the delay has expired, the activation is not
reported.

3.4 Report options
3.4.1 Destination telephone number for reporting
Each event can be reported to any combination of the six central station telephone numbers. If no tel-
ephone number is programmed for a certain event, the event is not reported.
3.5 Protocol options
There are a number of parameters that may be set for each central station protocol, these settings are
configured in this menu.
3.5.1 SIA 1
This menu enables you to set the SIA options.
One Acknowledge per message
You will need to enter YES or NO at this option, depending on the way in which the PAC handles alarm
messages.

3.5.2 Fast Format
The dialler can report to 8 or 16 channel fast format receivers.The dialler automatically switches to 16 if an
event is assigned to one of the 9 to 16 channels.
Channel options
This is the part of the program where you select the channels on which the different events should be
reported. For example, if you want an activation of a burglar alarm only to be reported via channel 3, scroll
down to BA, Enter .and select channel 3.To select channel 3 move the cursor to the desired position and
press 0to toggle the channel number on or off display.
Options
The same type of event can be reported on more than one channel.
• All channels report their status simultaneously.
• The first alarm event for this channel starts a transmission. Restore is forwarded when all the events
associated with this channel are restored.
Handshake
The handshake frequency can be set to 1400 Hz or 1600 Hz.

I. Connect a standard telephone to the RJ11 telephone connector on the voice module (see fig. 3).
II. Press Enter .to start recording the message. A counter on the keypad display indicates the number
of seconds of recording time left.
III. Push button PB1 on the voice module to start to record the first message (see fig. 3).

Start playback
All recorded messages can be played back through the connected telephone device.
☛ For the user.
After receiving an alarm call via the voice module, the dialler will generate a beep tone.
The user can then do the following:

3.6 Test call
The dialler is equiped with test call functions which can be activated automatically or manually.
3.6.1 Test delay hh
Set a “delay” time before the first automatic test call is sent to the central station. In this way the test calls
can be programmed a few days in advance (max.24 hours) to occur at a particular time in the week.
Example: You program the automatic test call for every 24 hours and you want the test call to be re-
ceived at the central station at 03:00 hrs.If you exit the installation at 17:00 hrs, you must therefore set
the DELAY to 10 hours.The first test is then sent at 03:00 hrs, and the subsequent tests are continued at
24-hour intervals (i.e. always at 03:00 hrs)
☛ The time starts as soon as the new parameters are accepted.
3.6.2 Test call time hhh
Program the length of time between two test calls in hours (from 0 to 254 hours).
3.6.3 Always Test
If this option is set to [NO], the dialler will only send a test call if no other messages have been sent
within the test call interval.

3.6.4 Manual test
This option is used to send a test call manually to one of the programmed Central Station telephone
numbers station. Scroll down to the desired number and press .to start the transmission. Call progress
messages are displayed on the keypad during the test. Voice always sends message 5 during a manual-
test call.
3.7 Miscellaneous
The TD8412 has one open collector which function as a Call central station output type.
3.7.1 Open collector 1 function

3.7.2 Open collector 2 function

3.7.3 Latch output
This option determines whether the output pulses or latches.
• Pulse: The output is activated for 4 seconds if triggered by the relevant event.
• Latch: FTC Line monitoring: the output monitors the line status.
F.T.C.: the output activates when no connection is possible and is restored
at the next successful connection.
ALI The output activates at the start of an Audio-listen-in session and restores
at the end of the session.
3.7.4 Dialler engineer code
If desired a new engineer code can be programmed to provide access to the engineer programming
functions.
If the engineer code is lost, it is only possible to return to the standard settings in
the factory.
3.7.5 Dialler default
This menu option returns the dialler to the default settings.
Allvalues and options which have beenaltered return to the default settings.See default

3.8.1 Answering
The engineer must enable this function to put the dialler (TD8803/TD8812) into automatic answer mode.
The dialler answers after about three rings and the Engineer Access Number is verified at both ends of the
line. If it is accepted, the engineer’s keypad takes control of the site's alarm system. If the account has a
TD8403/TD8412, all the telephone numbers can be changed. If the site has a TD8803/TD8812 all the
programmable options of the dialler, and the Aritech control panel, if attached, can be altered.The engineer
log of the control panel can also be read. To end the session go to the Remote program menu and select
Stop .
3.8.2 Engineer Access No.
Program the code to be keyed in by the engineer to safeguard remote programming for the account. The
code must also be programmed into the remote dialler before remote programming can be carried out.
3.8.3 Stop
To end a remote programming session. This function is operated by the remote modem dialler control
panel.
3.9 Line monitoring (TD8803/TD8812 only)
The dialler has extensive line monitoring capabilities which can detect the following conditions:lost connec-
tion, engaged and incoming call signal.
3.9.1 Line monitor ON / OFF
Toggles line monitoring on and off.When line monitoring is ON and a fault is detected on the line, the dialler
will not attempt to dialuot and activates the FTC output.
3.9.2 Telephone line options
• ALWAYS LINE FAULT:
If this option is selected the presence of a telephone line is constantly checked.
• LF IN ALARM:
If this option is selected, a line fault is only regarded as a fault if present when the dialler
attempts to dial.
When there is a line fault, the dialler output (programmed for FTC / Line fault) is activated.
• IGNORE OFF-HOOK:
If this option is selected, the dialler will not respond to any off-hook status created on the line.
3.9.3 Answ.Tel. in alarm
If the dialler detects an incoming call on the line which it wants to use to send a message there are two
options:
(I) to answer the call and then hang up.
(II) to wait until the incoming signal stops before forwarding the message.
3.9.4 Leave dialler
Press Enter .to exit engineer mode and return the dialler to normal operation.
