1. OVERVIEW
IMPORTANT:
Do not use the Aidacare Aspire Swift Patient Mover without having first read this manual.
The Aspire Swift Patient Mover provides a safe
and easy solution for a carer wishing to transfer a
client.
This mobile standing and transport aid is a safe
care solution for in home care or institutional and
aged care environments.
The Aspire Swift Patient Mover allows patients to
be transferred from beds and chairs with comfort
and safety.

2. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
INTENDED USE OF THE PRODUCT
The Aspire Swift Patient Mover has been
designed to transfer human patients with
the assistance of one carer or attendant.
The Aspire Swift Patient Mover should
only be used with Aspire approved
standing slings, which have been chosen
and assessed by a competent trained
health professional. For a complete list of
all compliant lifting slings please contact
Aidacare on 1300 133 120.
IMPORTANT – only approved slings and
accessories are compatible with this
lifter. If you are unsure please contact
Aidacare on 1300 133 120.
The correct and appropriate use of the
Aspire Swift Patient Mover reduces the
risks associated with manual patient
handling. The lifting and transferring of
patients should always be assessed and
planned by a trained health professional.
SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
ALWAYS ensure that attendants have
read this guide before operating this
patient mover.
ALWAYS use slings that are assessed
and considered suitable by a trained
healthcare professional.
ALWAYS ensure the area around the
patient mover and patient is clear of
obstructions.
ALWAYS minimise the distance over
which the patient is being transferred by
positioning support surfaces as close as
possible.
ALWAYS ensure braking castors are
locked when performing transfers in and
out of the patient mover.
DO NOT operate the patient mover
without correct manual handling training.
IF IN DOUBT DO NOT USE.
DO NOT use the patient mover where
any doubt exists regarding the safety
of the patient mover including but not
limited to wear or damage with particular
importance to be placed on the standing
sling attachment points.
DO NOT use the patient mover with
slings showing any signs of wear or
damage, including fraying.
DO NOT exceed the 185kg safe working
load of the Aspire Swift Patient Mover.
DO NOT leave user unattended at any
time.

4. ASSEMBLY
1. Select the appropriate seat pad and insert into the side frame. Particular attention
should be paid to the pads as they are handed, left and right.
2. Align the pin (a) with the slot (b).
3. Fit seat pad retaining ring.
4. Fit safety washers x4.
5. Fit and secure M8 plane nuts x4.
6. Fit cap x1.
7. Repeat for the second side frame.
8. Ensure the pads rotate smoothly with minimum eort and no excess play.

2. 1 x Right hand frame, M10 x 25 Socket head bolt & Washer.
3. 1 x Left hand frame.
4. 1 x Knee pad with 4 x plastic spacer, 4 Steel M8 washers and 4 x button head M8 bolts.
5. 1 x Right hand seat pad.
6. 1 x Left hand seat pad.
7. 1 x Grab bar with 2 x Sling anchor bolts.
8. 8 x M8 Plane nuts and safety locking washers.
9. 2 x Seat pad retaining rings.
10. 2 x Cover caps.

9. Insert left side frame into the base unit. Repeat for right side.
10. Using the washers and spacers provided, loosely fit the knee pad to the side
frame ensuring that the knee pad is positioned in correct position.
11. Lock knee pad in place by securing all 4 x bolts in place. The knee pad should not
slide up or down if positioned correctly.
12. Locate sling anchor bolt.

13. Insert sling anchor bolt into side of push handle. Tighten and secure pin by
locking into foam centre handle. This bolt also secures the foam handle in place.
14. Secure the side frame to the base unit by inserting the large washer and locking
in place with the M10 socket head bolt. Repeat on both sides.
15. The unit is now fully assembled.

4. Flip up the Seat Pads so the user can occupy the Swift Patient Mover.
5. The user’s feet should be positioned on the footplate. The user should then grasp
the hand rail. Using the assistance from the handrail, the user should now be able
to stand and push the front of their lower legs against the knee pad.
6. Once the user is fully stood, the Seat Pads should be lowered so that the user can
perch on them. Once the user is secure, release the castor brakes by pushing up
on the locking tab. The carer can then move the Swift Patient Mover using the
push handles as shown below.
6. GENERAL OPERATION
5. PRELIMINARY CHECKS
After assembling the patient mover these checks should be completed prior to
initial use:
1. Check the seat pads are secure and rotate back and forth for safe transfers.
2. Check that locking castors engage and disengage.
3. Check that the leg mechanism works correctly by pressing on the foot pedals.
4. If using a sling, ensure the clip attachment is securely mounted to the locking pin
on the frame.
Transferring To the Swift Patient Mover
1. Position the Swift Patient Mover close to the user requiring transport.
2. Spread the legs on the Swift Patient Mover to give greater stability. Do this by
pushing down on the pedal.
3. Apply the brakes on the rear castors, by pressing down on the locking tab.

1. Position the Swift Patient Mover close to the seat or bed.
2. Spread the legs on the Swift Patient Mover to give greater stability. Do this by
pushing down on the pedal.
3. Apply the brakes on the rear castors, by pressing down on the locking tab.
4. Ask the user to stand up using the Hand Rail as assistance. Lift up the Seat Pads.
5. The user can now slowly lower themselves in to the seat using the Hand Rail
for assistance. The carer should hold the Swift Patient Mover with by the push
handles during this operation.
6. The user should now remove their feet from the footplate and the carer can
remove the castor brakes and wheel the Swift Patient Mover away.

Sling Attachment
Knee Pad Adjustment
Sling and transfer belt attachments are provided for users who require extra support.
See page 16 for Aspire Slings approved for use on the Swift Patient Mover.
1. The Knee Pad on the Swift Patient Mover can be adjusted for height and angle.
To adjust the angle, loosen the two dome head nuts with a spanner on both sides
of the frame (as shown below). Reposition the Knee Pad to the required angle
and then retighten the nuts using the spanner.
2. To adjust the height of the Knee Pad, loosen the four screws with an allen key
(as shown below). Reposition the Knee Pad to the required height then
retighten using the allen key.

1. Position the user so they are facing the Swift Patient Mover with their feet on
the floor.
2. Spread the legs if required and get the user to place their feet on the footplate.
Flip up the Seat Pads and apply the Castor Brakes.
3. The user should grab the Hand Rail with both hands and use this to assist them
with standing.
4. Once the user is fully stood up, the carer should flip down the Seat Pads and user
can then perch on the pads.
5. The carer can then remove the brakes and propel the Swift Patient Mover to
move user to required destination.
7. TRANSFER GUIDE
The Swift Patient Mover can be used to aid a user getting out of bed.
1. Position the user so they are facing the Swift Patient Mover whilst sitting on the
bed with their feet on the floor.
2. Spread the legs if required and get the user to place their feet on the footplate.
Flip up the Seat Pads and apply the Castor Brakes.
3. The user should grab the Hand Rail with both hands and use this to assist them
with standing.
4. Once the user is fully stood up, the carer should flip down the Seat Pads and user
can then perch on the pads.
5. The carer can then remove the brakes and propel the Swift Patient Mover to move
user to required destination.

Using the Swift Patient Mover with a Chair
The Swift Patient Mover can be used to aid a user getting out of a chair, commode,
toilet or wheelchair. If used with a wheelchair, then the wheelchair brakes should be
applied and the leg rests removed prior to operation.

8. SLING COMPATIBILITY
AIDACARE has a range of ASPIRE slings designed for use with the ASPIRE lifters.
If using a sling with the Aspire Patient Mover, only use certified Aspire Slings as listed
below.
9. CARE & MAINTENANCE
To prolong the working life of the patient mover and for trouble free operation it is
recommended that periodic inspections should be performed routinely by a person
who is suitably qualified and well acquainted with the design, use and care of patient
lifters.
If inspection reveals that the safety of the lifter is jeopardized in any way the lifter
should be IMMEDIATELY WITHDRAWN FROM SERVICE, tagged as such and the
owner notified.
MAINTENANCE GUIDE & CHECK LIST
• Check castors are fastened securely to the frame
• Castors should run and swivel smoothly - if hair or other fibres have built up within
the castor this should be removed
• Check that the brakes on the rear castors function normally
• Clean surfaces with a pH neutral detergent - chorine and phenol based detergents
should not be used as these may damage Patient Mover components
• All moving parts and pivot points should be checked for fatigue and lubricated if
necessary
• Sling attachment points should be checked for general wear and tear and replaced
if necessary.

10. WARRANTY & SERVICE
AIDACARE warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and
workmanship under normal use and service and will within the period stated below,
from the date of purchase, repair or replace without cost to the original customer, any
part assembly or portion thereof which shall be returned to AIDACARE and from OUR
inspection shows to be defective.
1. Patient Mover Frame & all parts - 2 years
WARRANTY IS CONTINGENT UPON ANNUAL SERVICING BEING COMPLETED FOR
THE LENGTH OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD.
AIDACARE cannot be held responsible for any personal injury, damage to the patient
mover or damage to property as a result of the improper or unsafe use of the product.
No warranty claim shall apply where the product or any part thereof has been
modified, varied, altered or damaged either accidentally or through improper or
negligent use.
No warranty claim shall apply where the patient mover is repaired or serviced by
parties other than those accredited and or approved by Aidacare.
ALL WARRANTIES MADE ARE BACK TO BASE WARRANTIES MEANING THAT ANY
PARTS OR WHOLE LIFTERS REQUIRING REPAIR NEED TO BE RETURNED TO THE
NEAREST AIDACARE SERVICE CENTRE AT THE CUSTOMER’S EXPENSE – PLEASE
CONTACT AIDACARE FOR A CURRENT LIST OF SERVICE CENTRE LOCATIONS.

11. TROUBLESHOOTING
WARNING: TROUBLESHOOTING SHOULD ONLY BE CARRIED OUT BY AIDACARE
AUTHORISED SERVICE TECHNICIANS.
The following is a guideline only to general troubleshooting.
PROBLEM POTENTIAL FAULT ACTION
Castors are not moving
smoothly over carpet or other
surfaces.
Build up of material in castor
housing.
Clean castors thoroughly.
Castors not sitting flat on the
floor.
Castor may be lodged
incorrectly in mount point.
Remove unit from service and
contact Aidacare immediately
to have unit inspected and
possible castor replaced.
Seat and Knee Pads are not
swiveling.
Connection points could have
become loose or unsecured.
Remove unit from service and
contact Aidacare immediately
to have unit inspected and
possible pad replaced.
Leg operation is not
functioning when engaging
