Model 975A AM/FM Distribution Amplifier
Installation Instructions
The Model 975 is a 12-volt powered AM/FM antenna amplifier designed to drive car radio antenna distrib -
tion systems. It also accepts the RF o tp t of one or more CD changers. Yo r Car RF system can be expanded
to serve p to 32 radios sing A dio A thority® KIT17s. Each KIT17 contains a 4-way tap and Motorola
cables for 4 radios. If yo need to distrib te RF to more than 32 radios, call A dio A thority at 800-322-8346
or 859-233-4599.
Installation
Mo nt the Model 975A close to the radios and switching system and connect as shown in Fig re 1. Place each
4-way tap within 2 to 3 feet of the radios it serves. Connect the distrib tion system as shown in Fig re 2,
tightening all F-connectors sec rely. Be s re to add the termination pl g to the last tap in the system as
shown. Caution: Prevent n sed Motorola cables from contacting live cond ctors inside the display.
In Access™ switching systems, power the Model 975A from the Access™ System B s like any other Access EZ™
mod le.
In non-Access™ System applications, pl g a length of Access™ System B s
cable into the System B s port. Connect the red wire to a so rce of 12V (+)
DC and c t off the other three wires (gro nd is s pplied thro gh radios).
An indoor antenna will s ffice for
inp t to the Model 975A in most cases.
Use either the incl ded wire antenna
or a car antenna. Pl g the antenna
directly into the antenna jack of the
Model 975A as shown in Fig re 1. If
an indoor antenna prod ces too little
FM signal or too m ch m ltipath
distortion, an o tdoor antenna may be
desired. Use an omnidirectional FM
antenna if the only problem is a weak
FM signal, or se a directional FM or
VHF TV antenna to improve
m ltipath problems. Bring the 75-ohm
downlead from the o tdoor antenna
into the b ilding via a well-gro nded
lightning arrestor as shown in Fig re
2. Install a Motorola pl g on the cable
going to the Model 975A’s antenna
jack or se an F-to-Motorola adapter.
NOTE: O tdoor antennas will red ce
AM performance.

Daisy-chain all the RF-o tp t CD changers in yo r
display and pl g the last changer of the string into
the CD changer jack of the Model 975A. Radios can
receive both radio stations and signal from CD
changers at the same time.
