A. Introduction
ThankyouforselectingtheDV1501portableDVDplayer.The main
featuresinclude a5.8"WideScreen(16:9AspectRatio)LiquidCrys-
tal Display (LCD) monitor and a DVD player.The unit applies the
latest state of the art electronics and is designed for use in hotels,
offices or your home. The unit is constructed to provide years of
reliable,trouble-freeservice,and iscompact so that youcan takeit
withyou anywhereand isdesignedfor quickandeasy installation.
Pleasereadtheentire instructionmanual supplied withthis product
priortooperation.Thedocumentationwillassistyouin installing the
systemproperlytoobtainthebestequipmentperformance. Allmanu-
alsshouldbestored forlater use.
B. Cautions and Warnings
1. Placement
To prevent fire or electric shock, do not expose this appliance to
rainor moisture.Donot placetheset onan unstable cart,stand,
tripod,bracketortabletopreventitfromfalling.Keeptheunitaway
fromstrongmagnets,heatsources,directsunlight,excessivedust.
Iftheunit isbrought directlyfrom acoldtoa warmlocation, mois-
turemaycondenseinsidethe unit. Whenyoumove it fromacold
to a warm location, wait for about one hour before operating the
unit,orremovethediscandleavetheunitturnedonuntilthemois-
ture evaporates.
2. Installation
Ensurethat theD1501isinstalledinaccordancewiththeinstruc-
tionsandillustrationsprovidedinthismanual.
3. Object and Liquid
Donot pushobjectsofanykindintotheunit throughopenings;do
not spill or spray liquid of any kind on or in the system (this may
resultin afire orelectricshock). Do notplaceanythingheavy on
theunit.To ensureproperventilationandproper operation,never
coverorblocktheslotsandopeningswithaclothorothermaterial.
4. Disassembly
Do not attempt to disassemble the cabinet. There is a risk of elec-
tric shock and/or exposure to Laser Radiation. Contact qualified
service personnel if your system is in need of repair.

5. Cleaning Unit
Whencleaning, makesurethesystem isunplugged fromthepower
source. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a
cloth lightly dampened with water for cleaning the exterior of the
system only.
6. Disc
Do not use irregularly shaped discs such as heart or star-shaped
discs as they may cause the unit to malfunction. Do not stick pa-
per, tape or glue on the disc. Do not expose the disc to direct sun-
light or heat sources such as hot air ducts. Do not touch the sur-
face of disc. Handle the disc by its edge. Clean the disc by wiping
the disc from the center out with a cleaning cloth. Remove the disc
from the unit and store it in its case after playing. Some playback
operations of discs may be intentionally fixed by software produc-
ers. Since this unit plays discs according to the disc contents the
software producers designed, some playback features may not be
available. Also refer to the instructions supplied with the discs.

F. Loading and Playing a Disc
a. Afterconnectingpower totheunit,slidethe POWERON/OFF
ontheright side toON, the DVDplayer’s POWERindicator
lights.
b. Openthe disctrayby pressingOPEN at thelower rightof the
disctray, and placea discintothetraywith thedisc’slabelfac-
ingup.
c. PressCLOSEattherightsideof thetraydooruntilitclicksshut.
Theunitwillloadthediscandstartplaying by pressing PLAY
locatedeitherontherightsideofthedisctrayorontheremote .
d. RotateBRIGHTandVOLUMEtoadjust the LCD’s brightness
and the DVD player’s volume.
e. Tostop playinga disc,pressSTOP.

f. Toturn offthe DVDplayer,slide POWERON/OFF toOFF.The
DVD player’s POWER indicator turns off.
g. Toremovethedisc,openthedisctray,then youwillseeapicture
on the right inner corner of the cover to indicate how to remove
the disc, just use your finger to access the right inner corner of
thedisctray andliftupthe discand removeitfromthe disc
tray.PleaserefertoFigure4.

G. SETUP
Press ‘SETUP’ to display the Main screen of the SETUP Menu on
the screen. Press ‘SETUP’ again to exit the SETUP Menu and
the unit will resume it’s last playback or stop mode.
1) Select ‘GENERAL SETUP’ using the UP/DOWN buttons, then
press ‘ENTER’ to enter the GENERAL Setup screen.
a. Select TV DISPLAY using UP/DOWN, and then press RIGHT
to enter the submenu. Select the TV display mode on the
screen using UP/DOWN, and press ENTER to confirm the
setting. Press LEFT to return.
* NORMAL/PS: When the player is connected to a normal
TV, and a wide picture is shown on the full screen.
* NORMAL/LB: When the player is connected to a normal TV,
and a wide picture is shown on the screen with a black strip at
both the top and bottom of the screen.

* WIDE: When the player is connected to a wide screen
TV, a wide picture is shown on the full screen.
b. Select‘ANGLEMARK’usingUP/DOWN,andthenpress
the RIGHT button to enter the submenu. Choose Angle
Markon or off displayed onthe screen usingthe UP/DOWN
and then press ENTER to confirm the setting. Press the
LEFT button to return.
* ON: The screen will show angle mark.
(*If angle option is available)
OFF: The screen will not display theAngle Mark
c. Select‘MAINPAGE’usingUP/DOWN,andthenpressENTER
to return to the main page.

*NOTE: The DVD player will enter the Screen Saver mode after
5 minutes if the image on the screen remains the same for
more then 5 minutes.

2) Whenthereis no discinsidetheplayerselect ‘PREFERENCES’
usingUP/DOWN, thenpress‘ENTER’ to enter the preferences
page.
a. Select ‘AUDIO’ using UP/DOWN, then press ‘RIGHT’ to
enterthesubmenu.Selecttheaudiolanguageyoudesireusing
UP/DOWN, then press ‘ENTER’ to confirm the setting.
Press LEFT to return.
b. Select ‘SUBTITLE’ using UP/DOWN, then press RIGHT
toenter the submenu. Selectthe desired subtitlelanguage or
SUBTITLE OFF using UP/DOWN, then press ‘ENTER’
to confirm the setting. Press ‘LEFT’ to return.

c. Select ‘DISC MENU’ using UP/DOWN, then press ‘RIGHT’
to enter the submenu. Select the Disc Menu Language you
desire using UP/DOWN, then press ‘ENTER’ to confirm the
setting. Press ‘LEFT’ to return.
Note: Language and subtitle selection is only available for discs
that are recorded in the above listed languages. If the selected,
language is not available, the player will play and display on the
screen the original recorded language contained in the disc.
d. Select ‘PARENTAL’using UP/DOWN, then press RIGHT
to enter the submenu.
Selectthe parental level you desireusing UP/DOWNfor discs
withlock-outfunctionormultiple rating levels. These are listed
from the lowest level (1 Child) to the highest level (8 Adult).
Press ‘ENTER’ to enter the Password Verify Page.

Enter a 4 digit password, then press ‘ENTER’ to confirm the
parentallevel setting.
NOTE: For 1st time use the default password is 3308.
e. Select ‘PASSWORD’ using UP/DOWN, then press RIGHT
to enter the submenu.
Press ‘ENTER’ to enter the Password Change Page. Input
the Old Password or the Default Password, the New Pass-
word, and the Confirmed New Password. Press ‘ENTER’ to
confirm the change.

NOTE: The Default Password is 3308. This password is al-
ways effective even after you have selected your own pass-
word and changed it. To avoid the possibility of others using the
default password to set the parental level and change the pass-
word, you can record this default password in another area and
delete it from this manual. Some discs can be limited depending
on the age of users while some discs can not.
f. Select ‘DEFAULTS’ using UP/DOWN, then press RIGHT to
enterthesubmenu.PressENTERtomake the settingreturnto
thefactory-setmode.
NOTE: Theparental settingis notaffectedby thedefault
function.
g.Select‘MAINPAGE’usingUP/DOWN,thenpressENTER
to return to the main page. Press SETUP to exit the MAIN

2. MENU
A DVDis dividedintosections calledtitles andchapters. When
youplayaDVD,a rootmenuof thediscwill appearonthe screen
ofyourTVorMonitor.Thecontentsof themenuvaryfrom discto
disc.Press MENU duringplayingto display themenu,and press
ENTER or PLAY to start playing. Some DVDs only allow you to
selectdiscplaybackoptionsusingtheDVDmenu.
3. DISPLAY (Display contents vary from disc to disc.)
1) PLAYINGTIMEANDREMAININGTIME
a.Duringplaybackpress‘DISPLAY’todisplaythecurrent Title
Number(1),thetotalNumberofTitles(2),thecurrentChapter
Number(3),thetotalNumberofChapters(4),andthePlaying
Timeforthetitle(5).Theheadingwilldisappearautomatically
after3seconds ifno buttonsare pressed.
b.Press‘DISPLAY’againtodisplaytheRemainingTimeof the
title. Theheadingwilldisappearautomatically inabout3
seconds.

c. Press ‘DISPLAY’ the 3rd time to display the Elapsed Time for
the chapter. The heading will disappear automatically in about
3 seconds.
d. Press‘DISPLAY’the 4th time to displaythe RemainingTimefor
the chapter. The heading will disappear automatically after 3
seconds.
e. Press ‘DISPLAY’ a 5th time to exit. ‘DISPLAY OFF’ will be
displayed and will disappear automatically after 3 seconds.
2) ANGLE
During playback of a disc, press ‘ANGLE’ to display the avail
able angles for discs containing multi-angles*, with the current
anglenumber (1) and thetotal number ofangles (2)displaying.
Press‘ANGLE’ to select another angle,then press againto exit
and return to the normal viewing angle. The angle display will
disappear automatically if the ‘ANGLE’ button is not pressed
again within 3 seconds.
*NOTE: Not all discs contain this feature

3)SUBTITLE
Duringdiscplaybackpress ‘SUBTITLE’ to select the subtitle lan-
guage you desire*, with the current Subtitle Language Number
(1) and the total Number of Subtitle Languages (2) displayed. If
there are multiple languages press ‘SUBTITLE’ again to select
anothersubtitle language. To turn subtitlesOFF, pressthe ‘SUB-
TITLE’ button until ‘SUBTITLE OFF’ is displayed. The Subtitle
display will disappear automatically if the ‘SUBTITLE’ button is
not pressed again within 3 seconds.

4)AUDIO
Duringplaybackpress ‘AUDIO’ to select the audiolanguage you
desire*, withthecurrentAudioChannel Number(1)andthetotal
number of Audio Channels (2) displayed. Press AUDIO again to
select another audio language. The audio display will disappear
automatically if the ‘AUDIO’ button is not pressed again for 3
seconds.
5)ZOOM
Duringplaybackpress‘ZOOM’toenlargethepictureby2x,3xor
4X with the current zoom multiple (1) displaying. Press ‘UP/
DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT’ to move the picture. Press ‘ZOOM’ again
to select another zoom multiple or until ZOOM OFF is displayed
and the picture will return to normal size. The zoom display will
disappearautomaticallyifthe‘ZOOM’button isnot pressedwithin
3 seconds.

6) A-BREPEAT
a. During playback press ‘A-B’ to set the Starting Point A.
b. Press ‘A-B’ to set the Ending Point B and the player will re-
peatedly play the part between Point A and Point B.
c. Press ‘A-B’ a 3rd time to Cancel A-B Repeat. Normal play
back will resume from Point A.

7)REPEAT
a. During playback press ‘REPEAT’ once to repeatedly play the
current chapter.
b. During playback press ‘REPEAT’again to repeatedly play the
current title.
c. During playback press ‘REPEAT’ a 3rd time to repeat all
ChaptersandTitles. The‘REPEATALL’screenwill disappear
automatically if the ‘REPEAT’button is not pressed again for
3 seconds.
