A. Introduction
Thankyou forchoosing the D1708ES. The mainfeatures include two7"
Wide Screen (16:9 Aspect Ratio) Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) moni-
tors and a DVD player. The unit applies the latest state of the art elec-
tronics and is designed for use in hotels, vehicles or your home. The
unit is constructed to provide years of reliable, trouble-free service, and
is compact so that you can take it with you anywhere and is designed
forquick andeasy installation. Please read theentire instructionmanual
supplied with this product prior to using. The documentation will assist
youin installingthe systemproperly toobtain thebest equipmentperfor-
mance. Please save this manual for later use.
B. Cautions and Warnings
1. Placement
To prevent fire or electric shock, do not expose this appliance to
rain or moisture. Do not place the set on an unstable cart, stand,
tripod,bracket or tableto preventit from falling.Keep theunit away
fromstrongmagnets, heatsources,direct sunlight,excessive dust.
If the unit is brought directly from a cold to a warm location, mois-
ture may condense inside the unit. When you move it from a cold
to a warm location, wait for about one hour before operating the
unit, or remove the disc and leave the unit turned on until the mois-
ture evaporates.
2. Installation
Ensure that the DVD player and the additional 7” monitor are in-
stalled in accordance with the instructions and illustrations pro-
vided in this manual.
3. Caution
Do not push objects of any kind into the unit through openings,
and do not spill or spray liquid of any kind on or in the system (this
may result in a fire or electric shock). Do not place anything heavy
ontheunit.Toensureproperventilationand proper operation,never
cover or block and openings with a cloth or other material. Keep
the unit away from an open flame, such as fire, candle, etc. It is

5. Cleaning
Whencleaning,makesurethe system isunplugged fromthepower
source. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a cloth
lightly dampened with water for cleaning the exterior of the system
only.
6. Disc
Do not use irregularly shaped discs such as heart or star-shaped
discs as they may cause the unit to malfunction. Do not stick pa-
per, tape or glue on the disc. Do not expose the disc to direct sun-
light or heat sources. Do not touch the surface of disc. Handle the
disc by its edge. Clean the disc by wiping the disc from the center
out with a cleaning cloth. Remove the disc from the unit and store
it in its case after playing. Some playback operations of discs may
be intentionally fixed by software producers. Since this unit plays
discs according to the disc contents the software producers de-
signed,some playback featuresmay notbe available. Alsorefer to
the instructions supplied with the discs.
7. Regional Coding
Boththe DVDplayer and disc are coded by region. Theseregional
codes must match in order for the disc to play. If the codes don’t
match, the disc won’t play. This unit’s code is region 1
. DVD’s with
other regional codes cannot be played in this unit.

please dispose the battery properly. Do not use the unit in tem-
peratures higher than 104 degrees Fahrenheit or 40 degrees Cel-

4.Disassembly
Do not attempt to disassemble the cabinet. There is a risk of elec-
tric shock and/or exposure to Laser Radiation. Contact qualified
service personnel if your system needs repair.

D. Powering and installation
1. Powering the system indoors (Refer to Figure 1)
Plug one end of theAC to DC adapter into the DC 9V jack on the
unit, then plug the other end into a 120VAC power outlet.
The single monitor can also be powered as specified above.
2. Powering the system in a car (refer to Figure 2)
Plug one end of the DC power adapter into the DC 9V jack
on the main unit and the additional monitor, then plug the other
end into the vehicle power socket.

3. Installation
Load the disc into the DVD compartment, and make sure that the unit
isplacedinto the bag withtheretention drawstringandmeshcovering
around the DVD door. Then tighten the retention drawstring across
the top portion of the unit.
1) Installing the System onto the back of a seat in a car
(Refer to Figure 3)

1) Take one of the supplied straps from the carry bag. Connect the
latch to one of the upper rings on the carry bag, and then con-
nectthe second latch to theother upperring. Placethe loop over
the headrest, and adjust the strap until the bag is firmly secured.
2) Take another strap from the carry bag. Connect the latch to the
lower ring on the left side of the bag, and around the armrest as
shown above. Repeat this process for the right side.
3) Adjust the straps tightly so that the bag is secured.

2) Positioning the 2nd Monitor
Option 1 Vehicle Headrest (Refer to Figure 4)

Slide the Monitor into the pouch and attach the Velcro strap to secure
the Monitor in the pouch. Loop the strap of the pouch around the
headrest and pull the end of the strap while holding the buckle to
tightly secure the pouch to the headrest
Option 2 Flat Surface (Refer to Figure 5)

Rotate the base of Monitor backward and place it on a flat surface.
Adjust the screen for a proper viewing angle. This can be done with
the Monitor inside or outside the pouch.

F. Loading and Playing a Disc
a. After connecting power to the unit, apply power to the “DVD player”
by sliding the power switch to the on position. The power indicator
will light.
b. Open the disc tray by pressing OPEN, and snap the disc onto the
hub with the label side facing up.
c. Close the DVD door by pushing the area marked “PRESS”. The
unit will load the disc and start playing.
d. Rotate BRIGHTNESS and VOLUME to adjust the LCD’s bright-
ness and the DVD player’s volume.
e. To stop playing a disc, press STOP.

G. SETUP
Press ‘SETUP’ to display the General SETUP page on the screen.
Press ‘SETUP’ again to exit the General SETUP page. The unit will
resume it’s last playback mode.

1) Press ‘SETUP’, the ‘General Setup Page’ will display on screen.
a). Select ‘TV Display’ using the UP/DOWN button, and then press
RIGHT to enter the submenu. Select the TV display mode using
UP/DOWN, and press ENTER to confirm the setting. Press
LEFT to return.
* Normal/PS: When the player outputs signal to a normal TV, and
a wide picture is shown on the full screen. Some of the picture
sides will not be visible.
* Normal/LB: When the player outputs signal to a normal TV, and
a wide picture is shown on the screen with a black strip at both
the top and bottom of the screen.
* Wide: When the player outputs signal to a wide screen TV, a
wide picture is shown on the full screen.

b).Select ‘Angle Mark’ using the UP/DOWN buttons, and then press the
RIGHT button to enter the submenu. Choose Angle Mark on or off
using the UP/DOWN button and then press ENTER to confirm the
setting. Press the LEFT button to return.

* On: The screen will show the angle mark icon. (*If an angle
option is available).
Off: The screen will not display the Angle Mark
NOTE: Not all discs contain the features above. The above
features are disc dependent.

c). Select ‘Screen Saver’ using the UP/DOWN buttons.
*On: Enable screen saver
*Off: Disable screen saver (off)
*NOTE: The DVD player will enter the Screen Saver mode after ap-
proximately five minutes if the same image remains on the screen.

d). Select ‘Last Memory’ by UP/DOWN buttons.

*On: The unit will return to the last position on the disc.
*Off: The unit will not return to the last position on the disc.
Note: The last position memory function works for door OPEN only.
2) Select “Video Quality Setup”by using the LEFT/RIGHT button, press
ENTER to enter the video quality setup page.

a). Select ‘Brightness’ by using the UP/DOWN buttons, then press EN-
TER. Press the LEFT /RIGHT button to select the desired bright
ness. To exit the Brightness adjustment, press ENTER again to re
turn the main Menu.

b). Select‘Contrast’byusingtheUP/DOWNbuttons,thenpress
ENTER. AdjusttheContrastbypressing the LEFT/RIGHT
buttons.Toexit‘Contrast’adjustment,pressENTERagainto

c). Select ‘Hue’ by using the UP/DOWN buttons, then press ENTER.
Adjust the Hue by pressing the LEFT/RIGHT buttons. To exit ‘Hue’
adjustment, press ENTER again to return the main Menu.

d).Select ‘Saturation’ by using the UP/DOWN buttons, then press EN-
TER.Adjust the Saturation by pressing the LEFT/RIGHT buttons. To
exit ‘Saturation’ adjustment, press ENTER again to return to the main

3).Select “Password” using the LEFT/RIGHT buttons, then press the
ENTER button to enter “Password Setup Page”.

NOTE: The default password is 3308.
Press ENTER to enter the Password Change Page. Input the Old
Password or the Default Password, the New Password, and then
Confirm the New Password. Press ENTER to accept the change.

4).With no disc inside the player select “Preference” using the LEFT/
RIGHT buttons, then press ENTER to select the preference page.
a. Select ‘Audio’ using the UP/DOWN buttons, then press RIGHT to
enterthe submenu.Select the audiolanguage youdesire usingthe
UP/DOWNbuttons,thenpress ENTER toconfirmthesetting.Press
LEFT to return to the Preference page.

b. Select ‘Subtitle’ using the UP/DOWN buttons, then press RIGHT to
enterthe submenu. Selectthe desired subtitlelanguageor Subtitle
Off using the UP/DOWN buttons, then press ENTER to confirm
the setting and press LEFT to return.

NOTE: The Default Password is 3308 . This password is always ef-
fectiveevenafter you haveselectedyourown password andchanged
it.To avoid the possibility of others using the default password to set
the parental level and change the password, you can record this
defaultpasswordinanotherarea and delete itfromthismanual.Some
discs can be limited depending on the age of the disc, while some
discs cannot.

c.Select ‘DiscMenu’ usingthe UP/DOWNbuttons, then press RIGHT to
enter the submenu. Select the Disc Menu Language you desire using
the UP/DOWN buttons, then press ENTER to confirm the setting.
Press LEFT to return.
Preference Disc Menu Language Screen Display
Note: Language and subtitle selection is only available for discs that
are recorded in the above listed languages. If the selected language
is not available, the player will play and display on the screen in the
original recorded language contained on the disc.
d. Select ‘Parental’ using the UP/DOWN buttons, then press RIGHT to
enter the submenu.

Select the parental level you desired using the UP/DOWN buttons for
discs with lock-out function or multiple rating levels. These are listed
fromthe lowestlevel (1 KidSafe) tothe highestlevel (Adult).Enter a 4
digit password, then press ENTER to confirm the parental level set-
ting.
NOTE: The level of 8 Adult is the factory default.

e. Select ‘Default’ using the UP/DOWN buttons, then press RIGHT to
enter the submenu. Press ENTER to make the setting return to the
factory-set mode.
NOTE: The parental setting is not affected by the default reset
function.
