2. Connection
2.1 HDMI Connection
1) Switch off both the DVB500 and your TV.
2) Connect the DVB500 to your TV using the provided HDMI cable.
3) Turn your TV and the DVB500 on.
4) Set your TV input to the correct HDMI port.

2.2 AV Connection
1) Switch off both the DVB500 and your TV.
2) Connect the DVB500 to your TV using the provided AV cable.
3) Turn your TV and the DVB500 on.
4) Set your TV input to the correct AV port.

2.3 Ethernet Connection
1) Connect the DVB500 to your router using an ethernet cable.
2) Select settings from the home screen.
3) Select Ethernet from the settings menu.
4) Enable DHCP.
Note: If DHCP is not enabled on your router, you will need to manually input
your IP address.
2.4 Wi-Fi Connection
If you are unable to connect to the internet using a wired connection, the
DVB500 is able to connect wirelessly to your router. Please note that, for
video streaming, an internet bandwidth of at least 2Mbps is recommended.
To stream HD movies from an internal network an Ethernet cable connection
is recommended.
1) Select settings from the home screen.
2) Select Wi-Fi from the settings menu.
3) Select your Network from the Network list.
4) Use the on screen keyboard to insert password.
5) Press RETURN.
6) Select OK to finish.

3. Unit Operation
To set the HDMI resolution:
1) Select settings from the home screen.
2) Select HDMI from the settings menu.
3) Select the correct resolution for your TV.
4) Select OK to confirm.
Note: The setting changes are automatically cancelled after 15 seconds
unless confirmed.
3.1 HDMI Settings
3.2 Screen Scale Settings
If the edges of your screen are clipped or there are black borders around the
image, you can adjust the screen size by:
1) Select settings from the home screen.
2) Select Scale from the settings menu.
3) Use <▲> and <▼>to set the screen scale.
4) Press Return to confirm.
3.3 Time and Date Settings
If you are connected to the internet, the time and date will be set
automatically. To set the time and date manually:
1) Press Setup.
2) Select “date & time” from the setup menu.
3) Uncheck Automatic “date & time”.
4) Select “Set date” and set the correct date.
5) Select “Set time” and set the correct time.
6) Select “Select time zone” and set the correct time zone.
7) Select "Done" or press "Return" on the remote to confirm.
8) Press RETURN to exit the setup menu.

4. Digital TV
The DVB500 can be used to watch, record and playback Live TV. To launch
the Live TV app, select it from the homescreen.
Please note that the TV signal strength in some areas may not be
sufficient to support TV reception using a portable antenna. The distance
from the closest transmitter and other factors such as surrounding
buildings, the walls of your house, weather and electromagnetic
interference caused by power and telecommunication infrastructure may
affect signal strength. Changing location may improve signal reception
and a rooftop antenna designed for digital TV can be used to achieve the
best possible reception.
4.1 TV Setup
If there are no channels saved to the DVB500, it will ask you to scan.
Selecting yes will launch the search menu. To access the search menu to
scan once channels have been saved, press menu and select SEARCH.
After channels have been saved to the DVB500, when the Live TV app is
opened it will resume playing the last watched channel.
Before performing a scan, select Area from the search menu and select
the country that you are currently in.
4.1.1 Automatic Scan
1) Select Auto Scan.
2) Wait whilst the DVB500 searches for available channels.
3) Once the progress bar reaches 100% press return to exit.
4.1.2 Manual Scan
Manual scan is used to search a specific channel or frequency (VHF or UHF
band). It also allows the user to edit the frequency, change the channel
bandwidth and perform a signal check on a channel or frequency.
4.1.2.1 Scan By Channel
1) Select Manual Scan.
2) Select Scan Band and choose the band to scan.
3) Select Channel and choose the channel to scan.
4) Select Search to begin the scan.
5) Once the progress bar reaches 100% press return to exit.
4.1.2.2 Scan by Frequency
1) Select Manual Scan.
2) Select Scan Mode and choose By Frequency.
3) Select Frequency and choose the frequency to scan.
4) Select Bandwidth and choose the bandwidth to scan.
5) Select Search to begin the scan.
6) Once the progress bar reaches 100% press RETURN to exit.
4.1.3 Signal Check
Signal check shows information regarding the strength and quality of signal for
the currently playing channel. To perform a signal check.
1) Select Manual Scan.
2) Select Signal Check.

5. Program Menu
The Program Menu gives access to the settings for saved channels,
the PVR, EPG and recordings.
5.1 Channel Manager
To enter channel manager, select Channel Manager from the program
menu and insert the password. The default password is ‘0000’ .
Double pressing OK on a selected channel opens a channel edit menu.
5.1.1 Rename a Channel
To change the name of a channel:
1) Select the channel in the channel manager window.
2) Press F3 and use the onscreen keyboard to rename.
3) Press OK to confirm the new name or RETURN to cancel.
5.1.2 Lock a Channel
1) Select the channel in the channel manager window.
2) Press the blue button to lock or unlock.
5.1.3 Delete a Channel
1) Select the channel in the channel manager window.
2) Press the red button.
3) Select OK to confirm or RETURN to cancel.
5.1.4 Favourite channel
1) Select the channel in the channel manager window.
2) Press the play/pause button to add or remove favourite.
5.2 EPG (Electronic Program Guide)
In the EPG, you can view the program guide and schedule recordings.
To access the EPG, select EPG from the program menu or press F1 on
the remote.
5.2.1 View Program Guide
To view the program guide of currently playing and upcoming programs
for a channel:
1) Select the channel in the left EPG window
2) The guide for the channel will appear in the right EPG window
5.2.2 Schedule a Recording or Reminder
To schedule a recording or reminder from the EPG:
1) Select the channel that the program is on in the left EPG window
2) Press the right arrow to move to the right EPG window.
3) Highlight the program to record and press OK.
4) Set the repeat setting from Once/Daily/Weekly.
5) Set mode to Record to record or View to remind.
5.3 PVR Settings
The PVR settings menu allows you to choose the storage device your
PVR records to and the size of the Timeshift buffer.
5.4 Recordings
The Recordings menu allows you to view and delete your previous
recordings. To access the recordings menu, select Recordings from
the program menu and input your password. The default password is
0000.
To play a recording, highlight it and press the yellow button.
To preview a recording, highlight it and press the red button.
To delete a recording, highlight it and press the blue button.
To access sorting and search options, press OK.
5.5 Time Shift
Time Shift allows you to pause and rewind live TV, it temporarily saves
the currently playing channel to your storage device. To activate the
Time Shift function, select Time Shift from the program menu and
follow the on screen instructions.
Note: An external storage device (USB or Micro SD card) is required to
use this function.

6. System Menu
The System Menu allows you to manage the recall settings, subtitles,
passwords, parental control, Teletext and antenna power options.
6.1 Recall Settings
Recall settings are used to control the amount of previously played
channels the recall button scrolls through. Select 1 to switch between
the last 2 channels played. 3 to switch between the last 3 channels
played and 5 to switch between the last 5 channels played.
6.2 Subtitles
Select Subtitles from the System menu to toggle between subtitles on
and off.
6.3 Factory Reset
Factory Reset, removes all saved channel and recording information
from the Live TV app. To perform a factory reset:
1) Select Factory Reset from the System Menu.
2) Input your password. Default password is 0000.
3) Select Yes to confirm or No to cancel.
6.4 Set Password
A password is used to protect your recordings, set up parental controls
and to lock the factory reset option. To set your password:
1) Select Set Password from the System Menu.
2) Enter the current password. Default password is 0000.
3) Enter your new password in both boxes.
4) Select OK to confirm.
6.5 Parental Control Age
To set the parental control age:
1) Select Parental Control Age from the System Menu.
2) Enter the current password. Default password is 0000.
3) Select the age restriction age.
4) Select Yes to confirm or No to cancel.
6.6 TTX Region
To set the TTX region:
1) Select TTX Region from the System Menu.
2) Select the TTX Region.
3) Select Yes to confirm or No to cancel.
6.7 Antenna Power
The DVB500 can supply power to an antenna amplifier through the
coaxial socket. If your antenna supports this feature, you should switch
antenna power on. To switch antenna power on and off select Antenna
Power in the System Menu and press OK.
7 OSD Display Time
The amount of time an on screen display appears for can be adjusted.
To change the on screen display time:
1) Select OSD Display Time
2) Select the display time.
3) Select Yes to confirm or No to cancel.
NOTE: The Aspect Ratio and Audio Language options in the AV menu
are not used by the DVB500.
8. Live Recording
The DVB500 can be set to record what you are watching for a set
length of time. To record:
1) Press F4 to open the Timer setting.
2) Input the amount of time to record for.
3) Select Yes to confirm or No to cancel.
9. Home
The home screen gives access to the preinstalled Apps, press HOME
to access it and use the arrow keys and OK to launch an app.

10. Apps Center
10.1 Play Store
To access the Play Store and install new APPs, select Play Store from
the Apps Center menu.
10.2 My APPs
All your installed APPs can be found in My APPs, to launch an APP
highlight it in the My Apps screen and press OK.
10.3 Media Player
The Media Player allows you to browse and open video, picture and
audio files from your storage media. To open the Media Player, select it
from the APPs Center menu.
10.4 Quick Launch
Select the Quick Launch icon to add APPs to the Apps Center menu. To
add apps:
1) Select the Quick Launch icon from the Apps Center menu.
2) Highlight an App and press OK to add or remove it.
3) Press RETURN to confirm and exit.
11 Smart Apps
Smart Apps are pre installed apps that display the news and weather,
speed up the DVB500 and give access to Miracast and Media Center.
11.1 Speed UP
Click the Speed Up button on the Smart Apps screen to kill background
processes and speed up the DVB500.
11.2 Miracast
To send your smartphone or tablet screen to the DVB500 using
miracast, select the miracast icon and connect to DVB500 through
your smartphone or tablets miracast app.
NOTE: Not all smartphones and tablets support miracast, please
consult your devices user manual for details.

12 Settings
12.1 System Upgrade
System Upgrade allows you to install updated Firmware to your
DVB500 when released.
12.2 Language
Language allows you to change the language of the on screen menus,
to change the on screen language:
1) Select Language from the Settings menu.
2) Highlight the correct language and press OK.
3) Press RETURN to confirm and exit.
12.3 Bluetooth
Bluetooth allows you to connect Bluetooth headsets, keyboards and
mice to the DVB500. To connect a Bluetooth accessory:
1) Select Bluetooth from the Settings Menu.
2) Press OK to switch Bluetooth on.
3) Select Search to search for Bluetooth accessories.
4) Highlight the accessory and press OK to pair.
5) Highlight the accessory and press OK to Connect
6) Press RETURN to confirm and exit.
12.4 Device Info
Selecting Device Info from the Settings Menu displays information on
the Android version, Internet connection and Firmware currently
installed on the DVB500.
12.5 Advanced
Selecting Advanced from the Settings menu accesses the Android
menu to give you control over Android specific settings.

This product is guaranteed for twelve months from the date of the
original purchase. In the unlikely event of any defect arising due to
faulty materials or workmanship, the unit will be either replaced or
repaired free of charge (where possible) during this period. An
alternative product will be offered in case the product is no longer
available or repairable.
This warranty is subject to the following conditions:
The warranty is only valid within the country where the product is
purchased.
The product must be correctly installed and operated in accordance
to the instructions given in this user manual.
The product must be used solely for domestic purposes.
The warranty only covers the main units, and does not cover the
accessories.
The warranty does not cover the damage caused by misuse,
negligence, accident and natural disaster.
The warranty will be rendered invalid if the product is resold or has
been damaged by inexpert repairs. The manufactures disclaim any
liability for incidental or consequential damages.
Please consult our customer adviser before returning any product;
we are not responsible for any unexpected product returns.
Any faulty product must be kept and returned in the original
packaging with all the accessories and the original copy of the
purchase receipt.
The warranty is in addition to, and does not diminish, your statutory or
legal rights.
