Thank you for purchasing AVerTV Box PVR. Please read this user manual carefully to ensure proper
use of this product. We recommend you to keep it for future reference.
Introduction
AVerTV Box PVR allows you to watch TV, record TV programs, and capture content from various video
devices with composite (RCA) outputs. The video recordings are saved to your USB hard drive or flash
drive for later viewing. With Scheduler, you can now start building a personal archive of your favorite TV
programs. Most attractively, the useful Timeshift function enables you to pause live TV, play from
exactly where you left off, skip the ads, jump to the live broadcast, and even replay the breathtaking
moments!

Chapter 2 The Unit Parts
2.1 Touch Button Control Panel
The touch button panel found on the top of the unit provides quick access to commonly used functions.

2.2 Infrared Sensor
When using the remote control, aim it at the infrared (IR) sensor located at the front panel of the unit.
The remote control must be held at an angle within 30 degrees perpendicular to the IR sensor to
function correctly. The distance between the remote control and the sensor should not exceed 6 meters
(20 feet).
2.3 LED Indicator
The LED indicator on the front of the unit shows the device’s status.

Chapter 3 Installation & First Time Setup
3.1 Hardware Installation
Please follow the steps below to properly connect AVerTV Box PVR to your TV set / PC (Optional) /
video device (Optional).

zMake sure to power off your video device before making the connections.
zMake sure that the color of each cable matches the corresponding jack color while making the connections.
AVerTV Box PVR supports composite loop through. You can connect your external AV device to AV IN port and
connect TV to AV OUT port. Loop through capability allows real-time display of video from the source.
*To use this function, press the PC button on the remote control to switch to PC/Game mode.

Step 1
Connecting the Coaxial Cable
Connect the coaxial cable (not supplied) to the ANT IN port on the rear of the device. Ensure that the
cable is completely screwed in for optimal signal strength.
Step2
Connecting Your TV Set /PCMonitorwithAVerTVBoxPVR
Connecting Your TV Set with AVerTV Box PVR:
Connect one end of the composite cable to the AV OUT port on the left side of the AVerTV Box PVR
and the other end to the AV IN (colored yellow, white, and red) port on the rear of TV.
or
Connecting Your PC Monitor with AVerTV Box PVR:
Connect one end of the VGA cable to the VGA OUT port on the rear of the AVerTV Box PVR and the
other end to the VGA IN port on the rear of PC monitor.
Choose to connect either TV set or PC monitor to AVerTV Box PVR.

Then connect one end of the audio cable to the AUDIO OUT port on the rear of the AVerTV Box PVR
and the other end to the AUDIO IN (colored green) port on the speaker.
Step 3
Connecting PC Unit with AVerTV Box PVR (Optional)
Connect one end of the VGA cable (not supplied) to the VGA IN port on the rear of the AVerTV Box
PVR and the other end to the VGA OUT port on the PC unit.
Then connect one end of the audio cable (not supplied) to the AUDIO IN port on the rear of the AVerTV
Box PVR and the other end to the AUDIO OUT (colored green) port on the PC’s sound card.
The screen of your PC connected to the AVerTV Box PVR can be displayed on TV screen or PC monitor (via VGA
connection). Follow this step only if you want to display PC screen; otherwise, skip to Step 4.

Connecting External AV Device with AVerTV Box PVR
Connect one end of the 8-pin Mini-DIN to RCA Cable to the AV IN port on the left side of the AVerTV
Box PVR and the other end to the AV OUT port on the external video device.
Step 5
Inserting USB Storage Device
Connect your portable USB hard drive or flash drive to the USB port on the front of AVerTV Box PVR.
You can listen to PC sound with the audio cable connected. If you don’t need to output PC’s sound, audio cable
connection is not required.

Step 6
ConnectingthePowerAdapter
Connect the Power Adapter connector to the DC-IN port on the rear of AVerTV Box PVR. Then plug
the power adapter to a wall outlet.
Step 7
Powering on AVerTV Box PVR
Press the power button on the front panel of the device.
Or
Aim the remote control at the infrared sensor located on the front panel of the device. Then press
Power on the remote.
The LED indicator then lights up green, indicating that the device is on.
zRecording and Timeshift functions are available only when an external USB storage device is connected.
zTo allow long-time recording, it is recommended to use a hard drive instead of a flash drive.
zMake sure that your TV is set on the correct input source. Switch video input by pressing the input selection
button ("Input"/"Source"/"TV/AV") on the TV remote control.
Supported resolutions vary depending on the TV in use. For details, please refer to the documentation that
comes with your TV.
zPress SOURCE on the remote control to toggle among different input sources (Video, PC, and TV display).
zPress VGA on the remote control to switch output to PC; press AV on the remote control to switch output to TV.

3.2 First Time Setup
When the first time you power on the AVerTV Box PVR unit, you will be prompted to complete the
first-time setup procedure. The following steps guide you through the initial configuration process.
Step 1
Welcome Screen
When the welcome screen appears, follow the
on-screen instruction to press the corresponding
remote control key (AV/VGA). After key pressed,
the black screen stays for a short duration. Please
wait until the Initial Configurations screen appears.
Step 2
Setting up Country and Language
Use ◄/►to select the country where you are
located. Press ▼to continue.
Then use ◄/►to select your preferred display
language. Press OK to confirm.
Step 3
Setting up Date and Time
Use ◄/►to move among options and use numeric
buttons to set date and time. Press OK to confirm
and start watching live TV.
While watching TV, press MENU to open/close the menu.

Chapter 4 The Remote Control
The descriptions below show the deployment of the keys on the remote control.

Chapter 5 Basic Operation
5.1 Watching TV
To watch TV, please first make sure you select the correct country and scan the channels. To scan the
channels, please go to Home > ATV Setup.

5.2 Timeshift
The Timeshift function lets you pause live TV / video from external source, return and watch any part of
the recorded program, jump to the live broadcast, and even replay scenes one more time.

Pausing Live TV/Video from External Source
‐To pause the live TV or video from external
source, press .
‐Press again or to resume.
To edit your favorite channel list, go to MENU > Channel Manager (See p.21 for details).

Rewinding and Fast-forwarding Live TV/
Video from External Source
‐Press to rewind (2x, 4x, 8x).
‐Press to fast-forward (2x, 4x, 8x).
‐Press to play the file at normal (1x) speed
when rewind or fast-forward is active.
‐Use the numeric buttons to jump to a
specified time position when playing a video.
(For example, press “7” to jump to 70% of the video.)
5.3 Instant Recording
You can use AVerTV Box PVR as a personal video recorder to record your favorite TV programs or
capture video from an external source to your hard drive.

Instant Recording
‐Press to start the recording.
‐Press to stop the recording.
Please note that slow USB disk read/write speed may result in incorrect screen display during Timeshifting.
If you encounter this problem, replace with another USB storage device with average read/write speed or disable
Timeshift function via Home > System Settings > Recording Settings > Timeshift function.
zThe disk space needed for recordings depends on the video quality you record at:
Excellent: approximately 3.2GB of the disk space per hour
Good: approximately 2GB of the disk space per hour
Normal: approximately 1.3GB of the disk space per hour
To select the video quality you need, go to Home > System Settings > Recording Settings.
zTo watch the recorded programs, go to Home > Multimedia > Recordings.
zTo schedule a recording task, go to Home > Time & Scheduler (See p.22 for details).
zWe recommend you to use “KMPlayer, “GOM Player”,”VLC Media Player”, or “Windows Media Player” to play the
recorded video on your PC.
