General
information
Reading and storing
the user manual
This user manual relates to the Melit-
ta Avoury One tea maker (hereinafter
simply referred to as the “tea maker”).
It contains important information on
start-up and operation. Read the user
manual carefully, especially the safety
instructions, before using the tea maker.
Failure to comply with the instructions
provided in this user manual may result
in severe injuries or in damage to the
tea maker. The user manual is based on
the standards and regulations in force
in the European Union. When abroad,
you must also observe country-specif-
ic guidelines and laws. Store the user
manual for future use. If you pass on the
tea maker to a third party, you must also
pass on this user manual.

The following symbols and signal words
are used in this user manual, on the tea
maker, or on the packaging.

Proper use
The tea maker is intended solely for
preparing hot tea with pods. It is in-
tended for private use only and is not
suitable for commercial purposes. Use
the tea maker only as described in this
user manual. Any other use is deemed
improper and may result in damage to
property or even injury. The tea maker
is not a child’s toy. The manufacturer or
vendor accepts no liability for damage
caused by improper or incorrect use.
Safety instructions
WARNING!
Risk of electric shock!
A faulty electrical installation or
excessive mains voltage may
result in an electric shock.
–Connect the tea maker only if
the mains voltage of the sock-
et corresponds to the speci-
cation on the rating plate.
–Connect the tea maker only to a
properly installed mains socket.
–Connect the tea maker only
to an easily accessible mains
socket to allow you to quickly
disconnect the tea maker from
the mains supply in the event
of a fault.
–Do not operate the tea maker
if it has any visible damage
or if the mains cable and/or
mains plug is defective.
–If the mains cord of the tea
maker is damaged, it must be
replaced by the manufacturer,
its After Sales Support depart-
ment or a similarly qualied
person to prevent risks.

easily accessible, level, dry,
heat-resistant and suciently
stable work surface. Do not
place the tea maker on the
edge or lip of the work surface.
–Never place the tea maker on
or close to hot surfaces (e.g.
hobs, etc.).
–Ensure that the mains cable
does not come into contact
with hot components.
–Never expose the tea maker
to high temperatures (heaters,
etc.) or to eects of the weath-
er (rain, sun, etc.). Never store
the tea maker in a location
where the ambient tempera-
ture falls below 0 °C.
–Never pour liquids into the tea
maker, except into the water
tank.
–Only pour fresh, cold tap water
into the water tank.
–Never pour mineral water, milk
or other liquids into the water
tank. The exception to this is
the liquid descaling agent for
the descaling programme.
–Use the tea maker only when
there is water in the water
tank.
–Do not overll the water tank.
Fill the water tank with water
up to a maximum level of two
nger widths below the upper
edge.
–Do not continue to use the tea
maker if the plastic compo-
nents of the tea maker have
any cracks or aws or have
become warped. Replace
damaged parts only with
corresponding original spare
parts.
Do not touch the hot parts of
the tea maker at the outlet
during operation. Ensure you

Carelessness in opening the
packaging with a sharp knife or
other pointed objects may quickly
damage the tea maker.
–Open it very carefully.
1. Remove the tea maker from the
packaging.
2. Check to make sure that all of the
contents have been provided (see
“Device overview” chapter)
3. Check whether the tea maker or
the individual parts are damaged. If
this is the case, do not use the tea
maker. Contact the manufacturer at
the specied service address.
Use
The pods for the tea maker work in a
similar manner to pods for a coee ma-
chine. The size of the pod is determined
by the fact that the tea needs space to
develop during the brewing process. A
sealing lm ensures that the tea in the
pod is protected against loss of its aro-
ma. This sealing lm must be removed
before the pod can be used. There is a
porous net under the sealing lm, which
has either ne mesh or coarse mesh
depending on the neness of the loose
tea. Each pod has a code that tells the
tea maker which parameters the tea re-
quires to provide maximum enjoyment.
Switching on the tea
maker
1. Connect the mains plug with a prop-
erly installed socket.
2. Ensure that the pod compartment 2
is closed.
3. To switch on the tea maker, press
the On/O button 9. The On/O
button ashes whilst it is starting
up. Once the tea maker is ready, the
On/O button will be illuminated
constantly.
Avoury tea capsules contain ideal porti-
ons of tea for use in the tea machine.
The size of the capsule is determined
by the fact that the tea needs space to
develop during the brewing process. A
lid foil ensures that the tea in the capsule
is protected against loss of its aroma.
This lid foil must be removed before the
capsule can be used. There is a porous
net under the lid foil, which has either
ne mesh or coarse mesh depending
on the neness of the loose tea. Each
capsule has a code that tells the tea
maker which parameters the tea requires
to provide maximum enjoyment.
1. Connect the mains plug with a
properly installed socket.
2. Ensure that the capsule compartment
is closed.
3. To switch on the tea maker, press
the Start-Button / . The Start-
Button / ashes whilst it is
starting up. Once the tea maker is
ready, the Start-Button / will
be illuminated constantly

Rinsing the brewing
container
The tea maker must be cleaned out
before the rst use and after longer
periods of non-use to remove any
manufacturing residues and contamina-
tion. To do this, the tea maker must be
switched on.
1. Remove the packaging material and
the adhesive strips.
2. Remove the water tank 4 and
rinse it out with clear tap water.
3. Replace the water tank again.
4. Fill the water tank with water up to a
maximum level of two nger widths
below the upper edge.
5. Place a container that holds at least
300 ml volume under the outlet 8.
6. Push the On/O button 9.
7. Press the –/+ lling capacity
buttons at the same time 18 /19 .
The tea maker rinses the brewing
container and dispenses water into
the container.
8. Empty the contents of the tray of
the pod catching drawer 7 and
the container into the sink.
Making tea
1. Remove the water tank 4 and ll
with water up to a maximum level of
two nger widths under the upper
edge of the water tank.
2. Switch on the tea maker.
3. Wait until the On/O button 9 is
illuminated constantly.
4. Place a cup under the outlet 8.
The cup must be able to hold at
least 250 ml.
5. Remove the sealing lm from the
pod.
6. Open the pod compartment 2 and
insert the pod the right way up. The
ap on the pod must be pointing
upwards.
1. Remove the packaging material and

sticker with the serial number on the
drip tray.
2. Remove the water tank and
rinse it out with clear tap water.
3. Replace the water tank again.
4. Fill the water tank with water up to a
maximum level of two nger widths
below the upper edge.
5. Place a container that holds at least
300 ml volume under the outlet .
6. Push the Start-Button / and
wait until the machine is ready to
use.
7. Press the –/+ lling capacity
buttons at the same time
— / / + / .
The tea maker rinses the brewing
container and dispenses water into
the chamber. The machine is fully
rinsed when the Start-Button
/ is continuously illuminated.
8. Empty the contents of the tray of
the drip drawer and
the container into the sink.

7. Close the pod compartment again.
The tea maker will automatically
read the preparation parameters
provided by the pod.
8. If necessary, use the –/+ 18 /19
buttons for the lling capacity to set
the desired quantity of water. Select
a lower quantity of water for strong-
er tea and a higher quantity of water
for weaker tea. Each press increases
or decreases the water quantity by
15 ml (max. 210 ml, min. 150 ml). The
standard cup size is 180 ml.
9. If necessary, use the +/– 14 /15
brewing time buttons to set the
desired brewing time for the tea.
Select a longer brewing time for
stronger tea and a shorter brewing
time for weaker tea. The brewing
time will increase or decrease by
one minute with each press.
10. Press the On/O button to brew
the tea.
The LEDs on the lling capacity
display 17 will switch o one after
another until the tea has been dis-
pensed in full.
The brewing time display 16
shows the remaining brewing time.
After the brewing process, the pod
will be ejected automatically and
the brewing container will be rinsed
to prevent any aroma mixing and
to ensure that you can enjoy the
avours of each type of tea. The
rinsing water runs into the drip tray
and not into the cup.
11. To prepare another cup, open the
pod compartment, remove the seal-
ing lm, and insert a new pod.

–Press and hold the On/O
button 9 for approx. 3 seconds
during the brewing process.
The liquid contained in the brewing
container at the time when the pro-
cess is stopped is released into the
cup situated beneath the outlet.
Switching o the tea
maker
–Press and hold the On/O button 9
for approx. 3 seconds.
The tea maker switches into stand-
by mode. After two minutes, the tea
maker automatically switches into
standby mode if you do not press
any buttons.
The brewing time display
shows the remaining brewing time.
The LEDs on the lling capacity
display will switch o one after
another until the tea has been di-
spensed in full.

Adding extra water
If there is not enough water in the water

Regardless of the regularity of use, we
recommend that you clean the tea mak-
er at least once a month using a clean-
ing pod, even if the “Clean machine”
LED is not illuminated.
Cleaning
When the LED “carry out cleaning”
/ lights up, the appliance should
be cleaned using a cleaning capsule. The
programme takes approx. 25 minutes.
1. Switch on the tea machine and wait
until the Start-Button / lights
up continuously.
2. Fill up the water tank completely
with fresh tap water.
3. Activate the care mode. Press and
hold the buttons “quantity”– /
and “infusion time” + /
simultaneously for approx. 3 seconds.
4. Open the capsule slot and put in
a cleaning capsule.
5. The LED “carry out cleaning” /
starts to ash red and the Start-Button
/ lights up continuously
