Thedevicepasswordistheprimaryprotectionforyourdataandservices.Axisdevicesdonotimposeapasswordpolicyasthey
maybeusedinvarioustypesofinstallations.
Toprotectyourdatawestronglyrecommendthatyou:
•Useapasswordwithatleast8characters,preferablycreatedbyapasswordgenerator.

cameraviewinpreviewmode.Itisavailableonlyinfactorydefaultedstateforalimitedtimefrompoweringupthedevice.

Toadusttheviewinrelationtoareferenceareaoranobect,usethelevelgridincombinationwithamechanicaladustment
ofthecamera.
1.GotoVideoImageandclick.
2.Clicktoshowthelevelgrid.
3.Adustthecameramechanicallyuntilthepositionofthereferenceareaortheobectisalignedwiththelevelgrid.
Seletseneprole
Asceneproleisasetofpredenedimageappearancesettingsincludingcolorlevel,brightness,sharpness,contrastandlocal
contrast.Sceneprolesarepreconguredintheproductforquicksetuptoaspecicscenario,forexampleForensicwhichis
optimizedforsurveillanceconditions.Foradescriptionofeachavailablesetting,seeTewebinterfaceonpage18.
Youcanselectasceneproleduringtheinitialsetupofthecamera.Youcanalsoselectorchangesceneprolelater.

Youcanoptimizetheimageprocessingtimeofyourlivestreambyturningonlowlatencymode.Thelatencyinyourlivestreamis
reducedtoaminimum.

2.SelectImageSourcefromthedrop-downlist.
3.GotoImageSource/I0/SensorLowlatencymodeandselectOn.
4.ClickSave.
Seletexposuremode
Toimproveimagequalityforspecicsurveillancescenes,useexposuremodes.Exposuremodesletsyoucontrolaperture,shutter
speed,andgain.GotoVideoImageExposureandselectbetweenthefollowingexposuremodes:
•Formostusecases,selectAutomaticexposure.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallighting,forexampleuorescentlighting,selectFlicker-free.
Selectthesamefrequencyasthepowerlinefrequency.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallightandbrightlight,forexampleoutdoorswithuorescentlightingatnightand
sunduringdaytime,selectFlicker-reduced.
Selectthesamefrequencyasthepowerlinefrequency.

•Tolockthecurrentexposuresettings,selectHoldcurrent.
OptimizeIRillumination
Dependingontheinstallationenvironmentandtheconditionsaroundthecamera,forexampleexternallightsourcesinthescene,
youcansometimesimprovetheimagequalityifyoumanuallyadusttheintensityoftheLEDs.Ifyouhaveproblemswithreections
fromtheLEDs,youcantrytoreducetheintensity.
1.GotoVideoImageDay-nightmode.
2.TurnonAllowillumination.
3.ClickintheliveviewandselectManual.
4.Adusttheintensity.
BenetfromIRlightinlow-lightonditionsbyusingnightmode
Yourcamerausesvisiblelighttodelivercolorimagesduringtheday.Butasthevisiblelightdiminishes,colorimagesbecomeless
brightandclear.Ifyouswitchtonightmodewhenthishappens,thecamerausesbothvisibleandnear-infraredlighttodeliverbright
anddetailedblack-and-whiteimagesinstead.Youcansetthecameratoswitchtonightmodeautomatically.
1.GotoVideoImageDay-nightmode,andmakesurethattheIR-cutlterissettoAuto.
2.Tosetatwhatlightlevelyouwantthecameratoswitchtonightmode,movetheThresholdslidertowardBrightorDark.
Note
Ifyousettheswitchtonightmodetooccurwhenit’sbrighter,theimageremainssharperasthereislesslow-lightnoise.If
yousettheswitchtooccurwhenit’sdarker,theimagecolorsaremaintainedforlonger,butthereismoreimageblurdue
tolow-lightnoise.
Reduenoiseinlow-lightonditions
Toreducenoiseinlow-lightconditions,youcanadustoneormoreofthefollowingsettings:
•Adustthetrade-offbetweennoiseandmotionblur.GotoVideoImageExposureandmovetheBlur-noisetrade-off
slidertowardLownoise.
•Settheexposuremodetoautomatic.

Ahighmaxshuttervaluecanresultinmotionblur.
•Toslowdowntheshutterspeed,setmaxshuttertothehighestpossiblevalue.
Note
Whenyoureducethemaxgain,theimagecanbecomedarker.
•Setthemaxgaintoalowervalue.
•Ifpossible,opentheaperture.
•Reducesharpnessintheimage,underVideoImageAppearance.

Toreducemotionblurinlow-lightconditions,adustoneormoreofthefollowingsettingsinVideoImageExposure:
•MovetheBlur-noisetrade-offslidertowardLowmotionblur.

Ifyoustillhaveproblemswithmotionblur:
•Increasethelightlevelinthescene.
•Mountthecamerasothatobectsmovetowarditorawayfromitratherthansideways.

Ifyouusealenswithalargeraperture,thedepthofeldgetsshallower.
•Changetoalenswithalargeraperture.
Handleseneswithstrongbaklight
Dynamicrangeisthedifferenceinlightlevelsinanimage.Insomecasesthedifferencebetweenthedarkestandthebrightest
areascanbesignicant.Theresultisoftenanimagewhereeitherthedarkorthebrightareasarevisible.Widedynamicrange
(WDR)makesbothdarkandbrightareasoftheimagevisible.

Stabilizeashakyimagewitheletroniimagestabilization(EIS)
ElectronicImageStabilization(EIS)canbeusedinenvironmentswheretheproductismountedinanexposedlocationandsubectto
vibrations,forexample,windorpassingtrafc.
EISmakestheimagesmoother,steadierandlessblurry.Italsoreducesthelesizeofthecompressedimageandlowersthe
bitrateofthevideostream.

TheimageiscroppedslightlywhenEISisenabled,loweringthemaximumresolution.

Usecorridorformattobetterutilizethefulleldofviewinalongandnarrowarea,forexampleastaircase,hallway,road,ortunnel.

2.Ifthedevicedoesn’thaveautomaticrotationoftheview,gotoVideoInstallation.
3.Rotatetheview90°or270°.
Verifythepixelresolution
Toverifythatadenedpartoftheimagecontainsenoughpixelsto,forexample,recognizelicenseplates,youcanusethepixel
counter.
