Aztech WL556E
Portable High-Speed Wireless-N Repeater
Connecting the Aztech WL556E to a Wireless Mode
Supplied by your Internet Service Provider
Please take note that the steps ill strated in this g ide is meant to config re the WL556E to repeat the
signal of an existing ISP s pplied Wireless Modem that is sing the defa lt wireless config ration. If yo
have changed the defa lt wireless settings of yo r ISP s pplied Wireless Modem, then yo wo ld need
to key-in the new settings that are c rrently config red in yo r Wireless Modem.
1. Identify the model of yo r Wireless Modem and write down its c rrent wireless config ration.

a. Connect a PC to the wireless modem.
b. La nch yo r web browser. Type 192.168.1.254 in the address bar.
Press Enter.
c. Click Wireless Settings and take note of the
Network Name, Wireless
Channel, Authentication, and Encryption Key of yo r Wireless
Modem. Refer to drawing below for defa lt wireless encryption key.
d. After yo write down the Wireless Information, proceed to step 2.

2. Now that yo have written down the Network Name, Wireless Channel, Encryption Type, and
Encryption Key, yo are ready to set p the WL556E.
3. Pl g in the WL556E to a power o tlet.

a. Connect a PC to the wireless modem.
b. La nch yo r web browser. Type 192.168.1.254 in the address bar.
Press Enter.
c. Click Wireless nder Top Networking Feat res. Take note of the
Network Name of yo r Wireless Modem.
d. Change Wireless Channel Mode to fixed and select a channel from
the Wireless Channel Val e drop down list.
e. Take note of the NEW Wireless Channel, Security Mode, and
Encryption Key of yo r Wireless Modem. Refer to drawing below for
defa lt wireless encryption key.
f. Click Save button.
g. After the new Wireless Settings are saved, proceed to step 2.

4. DISABLE the wireless on yo r PC or laptop then connect an Ethernet cable from yo r PC’s
Ethernet port to the Ethernet port at the base of the WL556E.
5. Once a connection to the WL556E is established, yo r PC will receive an IP address and yo can
start the config ration sing the web graphical ser interface.
6. To access the web GUI, La nch yo r web browser and type 10.0.10.254 on the address bar

8. Go to Q ick Set p men and click on A to Set p b tton.
9. All the available wireless networks in the area will be displayed.
10. Search for the Network Name of yo r Wireless Modem and click the Connect b tton located on
the right side of the Wireless Network that yo want to connect to. If yo do not see yo r
Network Name on the list, please click the Refresh b tton.

11. Yo r modem’s wireless config ration will be copied a tomatically by the WL556E as shown on
the ill stration below b t yo still need to key-in the Encryption Key or “Wireless Key” to
complete the config ration. Ens re that the Enhanced Compatibility is C ECKED.
12. Once all the information is filled p, simply click the Apply b tton to commit the settings.
13. After the changes are saved, yo need to close yo r web browser and t rn the device OFF. At
this point yo may pl g the WL556E to a location where it can still receive s fficient signal
from yo r Wireless Modem to ens re that the WL556E can repeat the wireless signal
effectively. If the WL556E is too far from the Wireless Modem, it may ca se packet drops or
nreliable wireless connection.
14. Allow 2 min tes after t rning ON the WL556E to associate with yo r Wireless modem. Yo may
now start to connect yo r wireless devices via the WL556E sing the Network Name and
encryption key of yo r Wireless Modem.
