1.1 Safety Guidelines
This procedure is intended for use only by qualified service technicians who have been trained and authorized
by BARCO !
WARNING:Hot Surface and Risk of Explosion:Switch the projector to stand by and let it cool down for at least
15 minutes . These lamps consist of a quartz arc tube operating at very high temperature and high pressure
which may explode suddenly. There is a risk of personal injury and property damage from hot quartz arc tube
particles if handled incorrectly.
WARNING:Risk of Electrical Shock: Power down the projector and unplug the power cord from the wall
outlet. Once the projector is cooled down and the power is off, continue with the procedure.
WARNING:Lamp Runtime Warning: Do not exceed the indicated maximum total lifetime of the lamp for safe
operation in normal power mode. Do not use it longer ! Always replace the lamp with the BARCO lamp kit.

The lamp is intended to be used in following projectors :
• Barco iDR600
•BarcoSim5+
The lamp replacement procedure is the same (independent of the projector type), the images in the replacement procedure are
taken with a Barco iDR600 projector.

• Max lifetime (monitored in projector software) : 1500 h

3.1 Reset lamp runtime
3.1.1 Reset runtime
When to reset the lamp runtime ?
The lamp runtime should only be reset when placing a new lamp.
WARNING:Lamp runtime reset as well as the lamp replacement can only be done by a Barco authorized
technician.
How to reset the lamp runtime in the iDR600 ?
1. Press MENU to activate the Tool bar
2. Press →to select the Lamp item
3. Press ↓to Pull down the Lamp menu
4. Use ↑or ↓to select Reset runtime
5. Press →to pull down the menu
6. Use ↑or ↓to select the lamp to be reset (image 3-1)
7. Press ENTER
A dialog box is displayed (image 3-2)
8. Use ←or →, the numeric keys on the remote, or the keypad to change the serial number of the lamp (serial number 0000000 will
not be accepted).

WARNING:Lamp runtime reset as well as the lamp replacement can only be done by a Barco authorized

How to reset the lamp runtime in the SIM5+?
1. Press MENU to activate the Tool bar
2. Press →to select the Lamp item
3. Press ↓to Pull down the Lamp menu
4. Use ↑or ↓to select Reset runtime
5. Press →to pull down the menu
6. Use ↑or ↓to select the lamp to be reset (image 3-3)
7. Press ENTER

3.2 Removing the back cover

WARNING:Risk of Electrical Shock: For replacement procedures power down the projector and unplug the
power cord from the wall outlet. Once the projector is cooled down and the power is off, continue with the
replacement procedure.
Removing the back cover
1. Turn with a screwdriver the cover lock screw A quarter turn counter clockwise. (image 3-5)
2. Remove the back cover.

3.3 Removing the lamp unit(s)
What has to be done ?
1. The lamp power connection has to be disconnected.
2. The lamp unit has to be removed.
Perform the procedure for both lamps if necessary.
In this procedure lamp1 is replaced, the procedure being the same for lamp2.

How to remove the lamp unit ?
1. Disconnect the lamp (image 3-7)
2. Pull the lamp locking handle to unlock the lamp (image 3-8)
3. Take out the lamp unit (image 3-9)

3.4 Mounting the lamp unit(s)
What has to be done ?
1. The lamp has to be mounted
2. The lamp has to be connected.
Perform the procedure for both lamps if both lamps have to be replaced.
In this procedure lamp 1 is replaced, the procedure being the same for lamp 2.

How to mount the lamp unit ?
1. Place carefully the lamp against the frame
2. Push the lamp inwards and push in the lamp locking to lock the lamp
3. Connect the lamp
3.5 Mounting the cover.

1. Replace the back cover.
2. Turn with a screwdriver the cover lock screw a quarter turn clockwise to lock the cover. (image 3-11)

3.6 Filter Check
Filter check
When replacing a lamp, always check the dust filters. If necessary, clean or change them
How to clean the dust filters ?
1. Place the projector so as to access easily the filter to be cleaned
2. Push the handle downwards to unlock the filter. (image 3-12)
3. Slide out the filter (image 3-13, image 3-14, image 3-15)
See image 3-16.
4. Clean the dust filter with a dry cloth.
5. Re-insert the dust filter by sliding it back in the filter housing.

It is strongly recommended to replace or clean the dustfilter under the engine on a regular basis. Failing to
do so, will strongly reduce the lifetime of the different components.
The manufacturer reserves itself the right to refuse warranty repair if the projector was working with dirty
dustfilters.
