Remote Control
1 POWER: Switch the unit between on and standby mode.
2 MUTE: Silences the sound bar
3 VOL+: Increase the volume level.
4 VOL-: Decrease the volume level.
5 PREVIOUS: Press to go to the previous track in both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
mode.
6 NEXT: Press to go to the next track in both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi mode.
7 PLAY / PAUSE: Plays or pauses a song when the sound bar is connected
to your device through Bluetooth or WiFi connection.
8 SOURCE: Changes the input of the sound bar.
9 EQUALIZER: Switch different preset equalizer settings for the speaker
10 PAIR: In Bluetooth mode, the Pair button activates the pairing function and
disconnect the existing paired Bluetooth device. In Wi-Fi mode, the Pair button
enables the Soundmax Soundbar so it is visible to soundmax app during setup.
11 BASS-: Decrease the bass effect of the sound bar.
12 BASS+: Increase the bass effect of the sound bar.

Inserting batteries
1. Open the cover at the back of the remote control unit completely.
2. Insert two AAA size batteries according to the polarity markings (+ / -) inside the
compartment. Make sure the batteries are correctly aligned and properly pushed into
place so they can power the remote control unit.
3. Slide the cover back into position.
Battery service life
• The service life of batteries depends on usage and environmental conditions. They
should normally last for about one year.
• If the remote control fails to work even when it is operated near the TV, replace the
batteries.
Precautions when using batteries
• Do not use any other battery than specified.
• Do not use old and new batteries together.
• Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced.
• Do not use different types of battery (for example, Manganese and Alkaline
batteries) together.
• Note that there are chargeable and non-chargeable batteries. Do not attempt to
charge non-chargeable batteries.
• Remove the batteries from the remote control unit if you do not intend to use the
unit for a long time.
• Dispose of batteries promptly and properly follow any guidelines for recycling and
disposal of batteries that apply in your local area.
• Keep batteries away from children and pets.
• Never throw batteries into a fire or expose them to fire or other sources of extreme
heat.
• Do not carry or store batteries with other metallic objects. Doing so could cause
batteries to short-circuit, leak or explode.
• Do not attempt to disassemble battery
WARNING!
Keep batteries out of reach of children. Swallowing may lead
to serious injury or death in as little as 2 hours due to internal
burns. If swallowed, go straight to a hospital emergency
room. Dispose of used batteries immediately.

Using the remote control
• The remote control has a range of up to 3 metres from the soundbar. Point the
remote control directly towards the sensor at the front of the soundbar.
• Make sure no obstacles are blocking its path. The remote control will not operate if
its path is blocked.
• Handle the remote control with care. Do not drop, apply shock or step on the remote
control. Do not spill water on the unit.
• Do not use the remote control while simultaneously operating a remote control unit
of any another unit, which may result in interference.
• If the remote control is operated near other products which generate infra-red rays,
or if other remote control devices using infra-red rays are used near the unit, it may
operate incorrectly. Conversely, the other products may operate incorrectly.
• If you do not intend to use the remote control for an extended period of time (more
than a month), remove the battery to prevent possible damage from battery leakage
and corrosion.

Warranty Details
The product is guaranteed to be free from defects in workmanship and parts for
a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. Defects that occur within this
warranty period, under normal use and care, will be repaired, replaced or refunded at
our discretion, solely at our option with no charge for parts and labour. The benefits
conferred by this warranty are in addition to all rights and remedies in respect of
the product that the consumer has under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010
and similar state and territory laws.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian
Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure
and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You
are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of
acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

General Safety Instructions
Electrical safety and cord handling
• Protect from moisture: Do not expose this equipment, the power supply cord and
plug to rain or moisture. Do not use it anywhere near water or where water splashes
or drips, such as in a wet basement or near a swimming pool. Do not touch the power
plug with wet hands.
• Voltage: Before connecting this equipment to the mains power supply, make sure
your outlet voltage corresponds to the voltage stated on the appliance rating label.
• Mains power connection: When connecting this equipment to the mains power
supply, only use cord and plug supplied. Align the plug properly and insert it fully. Do
not overload the power outlet.
• Damaged cord: When the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or similarly qualified personnel in order to avoid a hazard.
• Protect the power cord: Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter,
or touch any hot surface. Do not allow anything to rest on or roll over the power cord.
Run any cords so no one steps on or trips over them. Do not run the cord near heat-
producing appliances such as radiators or stoves.
• Disconnect: Switch off and unplug the unit during lightning storms, and when it is
not going to be used for a while. Grasp the plug, not the cord, when disconnecting.
• Disconnect device: This equipment must be unplugged for complete disconnection
from the mains power supply. Ensure the mains plug remains readily accessible for
disconnection.
Read this manual thoroughly before first use and keep it in a safe place for future
reference, along with the warranty card, purchase receipt and carton. The safety
precautions enclosed herein reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury when
correctly adhered to. Follow all instructions and take notice of all warnings to
reduce the risk of fire or electric shock.
Important Warnings and Cautions!
• Do not open: To prevent contact with high voltage
components inside, do not attempt to open the
equipment. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
• Do not repair: If the unit requires service, call our after
sales support line for advice. Do not repair the unit
yourself; only have it serviced by qualified personnel.

Usage conditions and restrictions
• Instructions: Follow the instructions in this manual when installing and adjusting this
equipment. Only adjust those controls that are covered in this instruction manual, as
improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage. If this happens, unplug
the equipment and have it serviced by appropriately qualified personnel.
• Location: When using the equipment, make sure to place it:
• In a well ventilated area, keeping a clearance of at least 20cm above and 5cm on
each side of the unit to ensure proper ventilation.
• Away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other
equipment (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
• Away from areas with high temperatures, high humidity or direct sunlight.
• Away from excess dirt and dust.
• Away from open windows and any place where water or metal objects may get into
the equipment and damage it.
• Away from strong magnetic fields.
• Accessories: Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer
or sold with the apparatus. Use of the soundbar with accessories that are not
recommended in this manual may cause injury or damage, and will void the warranty.
• Usage restriction: The equipment is not intended for use by persons (including
children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience
and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
• Children: Supervise young children to ensure they do not play with the equipment.
Close supervision is always necessary when an appliance is used by or near children.
• Protect the equipment: Prevent metal objects falling onto the equipment. Do not
place heavy objects on top of the equipment or step on it. Do not place objects
filled with water (such as vases), or naked flame sources (such as candles), near
the equipment. If liquid or metal parts enter the system, unplug the power cable
immediately and call our after sales support centre to arrange a service before
further use.
• Ventilation: Openings on the cabinet are provided for ventilation and to protect the
unit from overheating. To ensure proper operation, do not cover them with things such
as newspapers, tablecloths, curtains etc.
• Cleaning: Unplug the equipment from the power outlet before cleaning. Clean the
equipment only with a clean, dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol
cleaners or volatile solvents.
• Service: Refer all servicing to qualified personnel. Servicing is required when the
apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as when the power supply cord or
plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the unit, it has
been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
• Liability: We accept no liability for any damage or lost data caused by non-
compliance with these instructions or mishandling of the equipment.

The following Source LED light indication will let you know which mode the Soundbar
is currently in.

Source:
Press the Source button (6) on the main unit or remote control to change the input
of the Soundbar. As you change the input source, your current mode will be indicated
by the colour of the Source LED (1).
Pair Button:
Options include: HDMI , ARC , COAX , AUX , Optical Bluetooth ,
Wi-Fi .
Power Button:
Press the Power button (8) once to turn On, press again to turn Off.
Selecting a location:
• Lay the soundbar horizontally and flat on its feet.
• Do not place vertically or on its side.
• Do not place the soundbar in a cabinet or on a walled shelf. Both ends of the
soundbar should be at least 30cm from a wall or any other obstruction.
• To preserve audio quality, ensure the connector panel faces towards the TV.
There is no placement restriction between the TV and Soundbar as long as the
television’s IR is not blocked. The Soundbar IR repeater is designed to be used at a
distance of at least 2” (50mm), however it may work at a closer distance.
State Change mode
Wi-Fi Mode
To set the unit in searching mode and
connect to the Wi-Fi network, select
Wi-Fi mode then, press the Pair
button for 3 seconds.
Bluetooth connected
Press the button for 3 seconds to
disconnect the current Bluetooth
connection.

Back Panel Connections
Power in
• Ensure to only connect the power supply provided. It must be 24V DC, 1.5A.
Power connection
• Before connecting the AC adapter, ensure you have completed all other
connections.
• Ensure that the power supply voltage corresponds to the voltage printed on the
back or the underside of the AC adapter. Connecting an incorrect power supply can
damage the Soundbar!
• Connect the adapter to the main unit and then to the wall socket.
Sources
HDMI sockets
This soundbar has HDMI in and HDMI out sockets. Use the HDMI in socket to
connect your DVD or Blue-ray disk players to the sound bar. Then connect your HDMI
out to HDMI ports on the TV.
TIP: Use the ARC (Audio Return Channel) compliant port on your TV, to enable the use
of HDMI/ARC mode without changing the port.
NOTE:
• Your TV must support the HDMI-CEC and ARC, and the HDMI-CEC and ARC must
be set to On.
• The setting method of HDMI-CEC and ARC may differ depending on the TV. For
details about ARC function, please refer to the TV's instruction manual.
• Make sure the HDMI cable you use supports the ARC function.
• HDMI-CEC may be called different names by different manufacturers. Please refer

to your TV's instruction manual for details on setting up HDMI-CEC and ARC.
ARC
ARC mode is used for connecting the Soundbar to the TV via HDMI, utilizing the
audio relay channel. This enables you to hear the TV through your Soundbar without
using additional cables.
To enjoy the ARC function, make sure the soundbar main unit's HDMI OUT socket is
connected via HDMI ARC compatible cable (not included) to the HDMI (ARC) socket
of your ARC-compliant TV. Press the Source button either on the Remote control
or on the Soundbar to change the input to ARC. The Source LED will change to
Turquoise .
Then just use your TV remote control to adjust the volume output (VOL +/– and MUTE)
of the connected audio device.
NOTE: The ARC (Audio Return Channel) function allows you to send audio input from
an ARC-compliant TV to an ARC-compliant audio device (e.g. soundbar) without the
need for an additional audio cable connection.
COAX
Press the Source button either on the Remote control or on the Soundbar to
change the input to COAX. The Source LED will change to YELLOW .
• Use a coaxial cable (Supplied) to connect the TV to the Soundbar.
• Find the coaxial output port on the back of the TV and connect one end of the cable.
The connector colour is similar to the socket on the back of the soundbar.

• Connect the other end of the cable to the back of the Soundbar's Coax in socket.
AUX socket
Press the Source button either on the Remote control or on the Soundbar to
change the input to AUX. The Source LED will change to PURPLE .
• Use the supplied RCA audio cable to connect the AUX socket of the Sounbar to the
AUX socket on the audio device or TV you would like to connect.
Optical socket
Press the Source button either on the Remote control or on the Soundbar to
change the input to OPTICAL. The Source LED will change to CYAN .
• Connect an OPTICAL cable (not included) to the TV’s OPTICAL OUT socket and the
OPTICAL socket on the Soundbar.
TIP: If no sound is coming out of the soundbar, make sure the audio setting of your
source player (e.g. DVD player, game player, TV) is set to PCM with optical output.

Installing the SoundMax App
For Android Devices
• Open the Google Play Store on your Smartphone or
Tablet and search for the SoundMax App.
• Install the App to your Android device.
• When you open the App for the first time, it will search
for the available SoundMax units that are connected
to the Wi-Fi network.
• The names of the found devices will be displayed
under the ‘Device List’ menu.
• In the ‘Device list’ you can change the volume, the
stereo mode and the device name. You can also check
your SoundMax Soundbar device information, set a
password for its built-in Wi-Fi network and reset the
unit back to its original factory settings.
NOTE: This App is subjected to change due to updates
without prior notice.
For iOS Devices
• Open the App store and search for the SoundMax
App.
• Install the App to your iOS device.
• When you open the App for the first time, it will
search for available SoundMax units connected to the
home Wi-Fi network.
• The names of the devices found will be displayed
under the ‘Device List’ menu.
• In the ‘Device List’ you can change the volume, the
stereo mode and the device name from this menu.
You can also check your SoundMax Soundbar device
information, set a password for its built-in Wi-Fi
network and reset it to the original factory settings. In
addition you can set an alarm on your SoundMax unit
and set a sleep timer for it to turn off.
NOTE: This App is subjected to change due to updates
without prior notice.

• Turn on your Soundbar
speaker.
• Install the SoundMax App
to your Smartphone or
Tablet. (Refer to pages 8
and 9 for instructions.)
• Ensure your Smartphone
and Soundmax Soundbar
are connected to the same
Wi-Fi Network.
• Launch the SoundMax App
and you will see screen 1,
as illustrated on the right.
• The App will then ask you
to input the password of
the Wi-Fi network that your
Smartphone is connected
to.
• Hold the “Pairing” button on
your SoundMax Soundbar
until the GREEN LED
light flashes rapidly. Press
next and the App will then
start to search for your
SoundMax unit and will
configure it accordingly, as
illustrated in screen 3 on
the right.
• If you enter your
Wi-Fi network password
correctly, you will see
screen 4, as illustrated on
the right.

NOTE: You cannot have two units with same name in the SoundMax app. When
you open the app for first time and after setting up a unit, a pop up menu will be
displayed. You can select the name from pre-defined names or write your own name
for your unit. This will help you to easily differentiate units from each other in different
locations.
Advanced Network Setup
• Turn on your Soundbar and select Wi-Fi mode.
• Open the Wi-Fi discovery menu on your Smartphone or Tablet and look for the
SoundMax Soundbar Service Set Identifier (SSID).
• Select ‘SoundMax Soundbar’ to connect your device to the SoundMax Soundbar
network.
• Open the web browser on your Smartphone or Tablet and input ‘10.10.10.254’ into
the URL bar.
• This will lead you to the SoundMax Soundbar Wi-Fi setup page.
• Select your network from the list of available networks and input your home Wi-Fi
password.
• Your device will disconnect from the SoundMax Soundbar network and the
SoundMax Soundbar speaker will connect to your home Wi-Fi network.
• The Soundbar will say “Connected” to indicate that your SoundMax Soundbar
speaker has successfully connected to your home Wi-Fi network.
Note: When you have two units with the same model number, you need to configure
them separately. Simply turn on one of the SoundMax units, connect it to your Wi-Fi
network and turn it off. Then follow the same instruction for the second unit.

Playing Music through Wi-Fi
Your SoundMax Soundbar has the ability to play music wirelessly through the
SoundMax App. You can play the music that you have stored on your iOS or Android
device, or you can stream music from iHeartRadio or Spotify. Swipe right twice from
the Device List screen on the App to access the menu.
My Music
• Through ‘My Music’ you can access the music that
you have saved on your iOS or Android device’s internal
storage. Once you enter the ‘My Music’ menu you will
see the following options:
• iPhone or Phone
• Playlist
• Recently Played
Select the desired option to listen to your music.
iHeartRadio
iHeartRadio allows you to stream radio stations to your
Soundbar. Enter the menu and select ‘iHeartRadio’ .
Select ‘Genre’ to choose the genre of radio you would like
to listen to or select ‘Country’ and then the ‘Region’ to
select localised radio stations.
Instructions
Spotify
In order to use Spotify on your SoundMax speakers you
need to install Spotify on your connected Smartphone or
Tablet. Go to the App Store or the Play Store and search
for the Spotify App. Install the App and login into your
account. If you do not have an account you will need to
set one up.
NOTE: In order to use Spotify on your SoundMax
Soundbar unit, you need to subscribe to a
premium Spotify account.

AirPlay
You can play music through AirPlay® on your iOS
device. To do this you need to ensure that your iOS
device and the SoundMax Soundbar speakers are
connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Swipe up from
the bottom of your iOS device and select ‘AirPlay’.
Select ‘SoundMax Soundbar ’ and start playing your
music.
NOTE: On multi-channel mode when you have two or
more SoundMax units together, selecting AirPlay will
play the selected music on all the speakers. Ensure that
you increase the volume on the unit when listening to
music on AirPlay.
Factory Reset
To factory reset your SoundMax Soundbar speakers,
open the App on your Smartphone or Tablet and select
Settings . Then select “Speaker Info” and choose
“Restore Factory Settings”.

with iOS 4.3.3 or later, Mac with OS X Mountain Lion, and Mac with iTunes 10.2.2 or
later.
