Conserve Surge
with Timer
Setup Instructions:
Step 1: Locate the desktop button on the desk. Route
the button cable to the surge protector. The user
guide can be left attached to the button for
removal by the user.
Step 2: Plug the desktop button cable into the jack next
to the power cable on the surge protector.
Step 3: Connect the surge power connection to
a grounded outlet. If the “Not Grounded”
indicator is illuminated, your outlet might not
be properly grounded.
Step 4: Plug in equipment that needs constant power into
one of the two “Always On” outlets. Suggested
use: computers, clocks, and phones.
Step 5: Plug in equipment not requiring constant power
into one of the six “Auto Off” outlets. Suggested
use: printers, lamps, monitors, and chargers.
Using the Belkin Conserve Surge with Timer
Inthemorningafterarrivingatwork,theusersimplypressestheBelkinConserve
SurgewithTimer’sdesktopbuttononce.Thispowersontheswitchedoutlets,and
theelectronicspluggedintothemturnon.Thisalsoinitiatesatimerinthedesktop
buttonthatstartsafactory-set,11-hourcountdown.
Iftheuserleavesforthedaybeforethe11-hourtimeexpires,thedesktopbuttoncan
bepressedoncetopowerdowntheoutlets.Iftheuserdoesn’tpressthebutton,the
outletswillbepoweredoffafterthetimerexpires.
Ifauserisworkinglate,anLEDonthedesktopbuttonwillbegintoblinkattheend
of the 11-hourperiod.Thisnotifiestheuseroftheimpendingshutdown.Tocontinue
working,theusersimplypressesthebuttontoresetthetimer.Iftheuserdoesn’tpress
thebutton,theoutletswillbepowereddownsothatenergyconservationcanbegin.
Caution:
– Do not plug into an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) or plug a UPS into the Conserve Surge.
– If the red “Not Grounded” light illuminates, this means that your building’s electricity lacks a
proper ground, and you should consult an electrician.
