Your BLACK+DECKER BXFD52006GB Air Purier
Fan has been designed for small and medium
spaces.
This appliance is intended for indoor household use
only.

Using Your Appliance
Please read the operating

After Use
♦ While cleaning, DO NOT use a wet
cloth or use water on any part of
the unit, as this may cause a short

objects to enter the ventilation
opening as this may cause electric
shock, or damage to the unit.
Switch off the unit and then remove
the plug from the socket when not
in use or before cleaning.
♦ Check all inlets and outlets
regularly for accumulated dust.
♦ Disconnect the unit from mains
outlet when it is not in use, or
before relocating or cleaning it.
♦ Switch off and remove the plug
from the socket before leaving the
appliance unattended and before
changing, cleaning or inspecting

the appliance to an authorised

Additional Safety Instructions For
Air Coolers And Fans
♦ Install the unit on at and hard
surface to diminish vibration or
noise.
♦ Always operate the appliance on a
smooth, even, stable surface. Do
not place the unit on a hot surface.
♦ Ensure that the unit is switched off
after use.
♦ Do not immerse cables, plugs or
any part of the appliance in water
or any other liquid.
♦ Operate the unit only at the voltage
specied.
♦ Do not use the unit near open
windows, as contact with rain and
other natural elements could cause
an electrical hazard
♦ Do not put heavy objects on the
appliance.
♦ Do not tip the unit on its side.
♦ Never insert any other object into
the unit body to avoid any hazard
or unit failure.
♦ Do not put the unit close to
heat-generating devices or
near ammable and dangerous
materials.
♦ If the supply cable is damaged,
it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or its service agent or
a similarly qualied person in order
to avoid a hazard
♦ The appliance must be positioned
so that the plug is accessible.
♦ For optimal airow circulation,
leave a distance of at least 15cm
around the appliance on every side.
Always direct the airow in order
to optimise cooling. Avoid corners,
small objects and other surfaces
or objects which may impede the
airow.
♦ Keep away from curtains.

on or near a hot gas electric burner.

Power Supply
Your adaptor has been designed for a specic
voltage. Always check that the mains voltage
corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.
WARNING: Never attempt to replace the adaptor
unit with a regular mains plug.
♦If the supply cord is damaged, it must be
replaced by the manufacturer or an authorised
BLACK+DECKER Service Centre in order to avoid
a hazard.
♦Do not expose the adaptor to water.
♦Do not open the adaptor.
♦Do not probe the adaptor.

therefore no earth wire is required.

Use
About the Controls
♦ 3 fan speed settings - High/ Medium/ Low
♦ Air Purication Setting
How to Operate
♦ Place the unit on a rm and level surface.
♦ Plug the adapter into the socket in the underside
at the rear of the unit.
♦ Plug the power cord into an active mains outlet.
♦ Switch the power on at the socket. The lower of
the fan indicator lights will ash and the unit will
enter stand-by mode.
♦ Choose to leave the fan down or raised to 90°.
Fan Settings
♦ Press the Fan button to activate the fan. The rst
fan indicator light will illuminate constantly.
♦ Press the Fan button again to cycle through
the 3 speed settings, returning to standby. The
corresponding fan indicators will illuminate.
Note: When the fan is operating at Low or Medium
setting, press and hold the Fan button for 2 seconds
to turn the fan function off.

Air Purification Setting
♦ Press the Air Purication button to activate. The
Air Purication indicator will illuminate.
♦ When the Air Purication Indicator is illuminated
the UV lamp can be turned ON/OFF by turning the
bottom cover aligning the lock/unlock markings
accordingly. NOTE: If the bottom cover is removed
there is a safety switch which will automatically
turn off the UV function.
♦ Press the Air Purication key again to deactivate.
The Air Purication indicator will go off.
Filter Replacement
WARNING: WARNING to turn off power and
unplug the unit before replacing the lter
♦ It is recommended that the lter is replaced every
3 months, although the service life of the lter
depends on the air quality and the amount of
usage.
♦ Turn the bottom cover anti-clockwise to unlock
and remove.
♦ Replace the lter.
♦ Replace the bottom cover and rotate clockwise to
lock into place.
Cleaning and maintenance
WARNING: Before cleaning and maintenance,
switch the appliance off and remove the plug from
the socket, to prevent electric shock.
♦ Do not immerse any part of the appliance, power
cord or plug in liquids.
♦ Use a soft damp cloth to wipe the surface. Then
dry with a soft cloth. Avoid using detergent, spray
or chemicals as these may cause damage to the
appliance.
♦ Clean the inlet and outlet vents with a soft brush
or vacuum cleaner.
♦ Do not use water to clean parts of the fan.
♦ Do not disassemble the fan for cleaning.
♦ Do not immerse the fan in water and never allow
water to enter the motor housing or any other part
of the appliance.
♦ Do not use gasoline, paint thinner or other
chemicals to clean the fan.
♦ Clean the power plug with a soft, dry cloth.
♦ Do not clean the lter.
♦ Replacement lters are available to purchase
under code BXFD52008GB
Storage
♦ Once the fan has been cleaned, it can be stored in
a plastic bag.
♦ Keep away from vibrations and electrical devices
with cooling / heating function.
♦ Do not expose it to direct sunlight, hot and humid
places.
♦ Keep out of the reach of children.
