GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This product must b ground d. In th v nt of an l ctrical short circuit, grounding r duc s th risk of l ctric shock
by providing an scap wir for th l ctric curr nt. This product is quipp d with a cord having a grounding wir with
an appropriat grounding plug. Th plug must b plugg d into an outl t that is prop rly install d and ground d in
accordanc with all local cod s and ordinanc s. Conn ct to a ground d outl t and us ground d xt nsion cords. Do
not us a 3 to 2 adapt r.

EXTENSION CORDS
Us only a 3-wir xt nsion cord that has a 3-blad grounding plug and a 3-slot r c ptacl that will acc pt th plug on
th product. Mak sur your xt nsion cord is in good condition. Wh n using an xt nsion cord, b sur to us on
h avy nough to carry th curr nt your product will draw. An und rsiz d cord will caus a drop in lin voltag r sulting
in loss of pow r and ov rh ating. If an xt nsion cord is to b us d outdoors, it must b mark d with th suffix W-A
aft r th cord typ d signation. For xampl , a d signation of SJTW-A would indicat that th cord would b
appropriat for outdoor us . For prop r siz cords s chart b low.

SELECTING THE PROPER SPRAY
NOZZLE - (FIGURES B AND B1)

Fan (wide) nozzle (g een - figu e B) - This
nozzl has a spring attach d to th back
which allows for adjustm nts for spraying
both v rtically and horizontally. It also has
tabs on th sid which match th spray
patt rn wh n s t for spraying sid to sid
and top to bottom. Th spray patt rn cov rs a wid ar a. This is th spray nozzl that is id ntifi d as numb r 1 in th
diagram on top of th spray r.
Cone nozzle (blue - figu e B1) - Th con nozzl spray patt rn is mor conc ntrat d. Us this nozzl for it ms that
ar too small for th fan nozzl . This is th spray nozzl that is id ntifi d as numb r 2 in th diagram on top of th
spray r.
ATTACHING THE SPRAY NOZZLES - (FIGURES C AND C1)
To attach the g een fan sp ay nozzle:
• Mak sur cord is unplugg d.
• Thr ad th nozzl onto th spindl until
you f l a littl r sistanc (about 10 full
turns).
• Push in on th spring load d nozzl and
turn until it is fully s at d (figu e C).
• Onc th nozzl is fully s at d, th spring
on th back of th nozzl will mak it pop
out slightly wh n it is r l as d (figu e C1).
• Mak sur fan spray nozzl is compl t ly
thr ad d on by hand only. If it is not fully
s at d in can l ak or damag th nozzl .
To emove the g een fan sp ay nozzle:
• Pr ss in on th nozzl and turn
count rclockwis .
To attach the blue cone sp ay nozzle:
• Thr ad th nozzl onto th spindl until it is fully s at d.
• Mak sur con spray nozzl is compl t ly thr ad d on by hand only. If it is not fully s at d in can l ak or damag
th nozzl .
ADJUSTING THE FAN SPRAY NOZZLE - (FIGURES D AND D1)
To adjust the fan sp ay nozzle:
• Mak sur cord is unplugg d and that th
fan spray nozzl is fully hand-tight n d.
• Th fan spray nozzl has two tabs which
align to indicat v rtical and horizontal
positions.
• If you will b spraying (sid to sid ) adjust
th nozzl to align with th v rtical mark as
shown in figu e D.
• If you will b spraying (up and down) adjust
th nozzl to align with th horizontal mark
as shown in figu e D1.
CAU ION: Do not compr ss or push
spring wh n adjusting fan patt rn. Th
nozzl should rotat and not loos n.

LIQUID MATERIAL PREPARATION - (FIGURES E, E1)
TIP: Make sure the type of material you
use can be cleaned with either mineral
spirits or paint thinner (for oil-based
paints) or a warm water and soap solution
(for water soluble paints like latex). se
drop cloths during pouring, mixing, and
viscosity testing of materials to be
sprayed to protect your floors and
anything else in the spraying area that
you wish to remain untouched.

A 2- 3/4quart mixing buck t is provid d to us wh n transf rring spray mat rial from th original contain r into
th buck t for thinning and m asuring
purpos s (figu e E).
• If mat rial n ds thinning, add th appropriat liquid thinning mat rial r comm nd d by th manufactur r
(figu e E1).
• Th quick cl an fill cup has a m asur m nt of 2.5 ozs. This can b us d as a quick m asur m nt wh n thinning to
5% in th sid fill canist r.
• It is possibl to spray lat x paint with this unit, how v r, th r quir d thinning may xc d mat rial manufactur rʼs
r comm ndation. Th op rator should consid r th typ of application and final location of th proj ct wh n spraying.
PREPARATION TIPS
• With any spraying job you should always nsur that you hav prop rly pr par d th surfac to g t th b st finish.
That is, that all surfac s ar fr from dust, dirt, rust and gr as . Lightly pr ssur wash d cks or xt rior surfac s and
nsur that th y ar dry b for spraying.
• It is r comm nd d that you mask all dg s and oth r ar as and us drop cloths to prot ct your floors and anything
ls in th spraying ar a that you wish to r main untouch d.
• Skin that forms on th top of paint can clog th spray r. R mov skin b for mixing. Old r mat rial may n d to b
strain d with a funn l with a filt r attach d or through hosi ry to r mov any impuriti s that could clog syst m.
• B for starting hav glov s, pap r tow ls, rags tc. availabl for un xp ct d spills.
FILLING THE CANISTER - (FIGURE F)
• Ch ck to mak sur that th canist r is compl t ly scr w d onto th
spray r.
• Lay th spray r on its sid with th canist r sid lid facing up.
• Unscr w th lid on th sid of th canist r.
• Pour th prop rly thinn d and strain d mat rial to b spray d into th
sid fill canist r (figu e F). TIP: se the mixing bucket provided to pour
material from the original material container into the side fill canister.
• Cl an any r sidual liquid from th thr ads or sid s of th canist r and
spray r.
• Starting th thr ads v nly, scr w th lid compl t ly onto th sid fill
canist r. Ch ck th lid to mak sur it is thr ad d on squar ly and
compl t ly b for picking up th spray r.

SPEED AND FLOW CONTROL SETTINGS
TWO SPEED CONTROL SWITCH - (FIGURE H) (MODEL BDPS600 ONLY)
Your spray r has two diff r nt sp d s ttings.
• To chang sp ds, pr ss th right sid of th switch. An LED indicat s s tting 1
or 2.
• Us th low r sp d s tting (S tting 1) to obtain gr at r control ov r your spray-
ing proj ct, whil th high r sp d (S tting 2) allows for gr at r cov rag in a
short r amount of tim .
• Th low r sp d l v l allows you to g t clos r to your work with l ss ov rspray.
Low s tting works w ll with light r bodi d or mor fr flowing paints lik stains
and s al rs.

FLOW CONTROL KNOB - (FIGURE I)
Th flow control knob r gulat s th amount of liquid that can b spray d.
• S l ct low (1), m dium (5) or high (9) on th flow control knob.
TIP: Always test the spray pattern on scrap cardboard or similar material
first. Begin with flow control knob on the highest flow setting. Heavier,
thicker materials should be sprayed on the higher setting closer to #9.
Thinner materials should be sprayed on the lower setting closer to #1.
OPERATION

PRIMING WITH THE DIRECT TO CAN HOSE - BDPS600 ONLY
• Th tim n d d to prim will vary from 30 s conds to 3 minut s d p nding upon th thickn ss of th mat rial you
ar spraying. Wh n th spray r is priming or sucking up th paint on th initial us , it will produc a loud nois , this is
normal. Wh n th spray r is prim d and painting, th nois will l ss n.
• If your spray r is prop rly cl an d and oil d and it tak s long r than thr minut s to prim , your piston and/or pump
housing may b worn and will n d to b r plac d b for using your dir ct to can hos .
• Using th dir ct to can hos will d cr as th mat rial flow, so it will tak long r to apply th sam amount of mat rial
to th surfac b ing spray d.
• A 75% duty cycl is r comm nd d wh n using th dir ct to can hos . For xampl , trigg r th spray r for 15
s conds, and th n allow th spray r to r main idl for 5 s conds.

If you ar using th dir ct to can hos , you will n d to prim th spray r by
r moving air from th syst m. To prim :
1. Mak sur th spray r is plugg d in, and turn th flow control knob
count rclockwis to maximum (figu e K).
2. Hold th spray r b low th l v l of th paint. This will sp d up th priming
(figu e L).
3. Aim th spray r at a pi c of scrap wood or cardboard. Squ z th trigg r and
hold until all air is out of th syst m and mat rial is flowing fr ly out of th spray r
tip. This could tak up to thr minut s.
Impo tant: Th nd of th dir ct to can hos must r main compl t ly subm rg d
in th mat rial. If it is not compl t ly subm rg d and air is suck d into th syst m,
th piston could s iz . If th piston s iz s, th sound th spray r mak s will
chang to a low hum and th spray r will quickly b com hot to th touch. N v r
run th spray r wh n th piston is s iz d. Should this happ n, cl an th piston
and th pump housing thoroughly using th cl anup proc dur s found in this
manual.
DEVELOPING THE PROPER SPRAYING TECHNIQUE
• Practic spraying on a pi c of scrap mat rial such as cardboard to t st your spray patt rn and b com familiar with
th sp d s ttings flow control f atur s of th spray r.
• Ensur surfac to b spray d is fr of dust, dirt, and gr as .
• Ensur spray ar a is cl an and fr of dust that could b blown onto n wly spray d surfac s.
• Cov r any ar as not int nd d to b spray d.
• Always spray from a minimum of 1 inch (25mm) to a maximum of 14 inch s (355mm) (figu e M). Optimal is usually
around 10 inch s or us a paint stir stick as a r f r nc .
• A commonly us d m thod for spraying a larg surfac is th “crisscross” patt rn. This is don by spraying in horizon-
tal strips and th n crossing ov r th s strips with v rtical strips.
• To g t an v n spray distribution, always k p your arm at th sam distanc (figu e M) from th surfac you ar

TIP: If the atomizer valve is not seated
properly, spray material will leak from
behind the spray nozzle. If material is
leaking, turn off and unplug sprayer from
power source immediately. Follow these
steps to correct the problem:

USING THE QUICK CLEAN SYSTEM
Th quick cl an syst m allows for a vari ty of us ful functions.
First, th syst m can allow you to spray wat r or a suitabl cl aning liquid whil th r is still spray mat rial in th main
canist r. This is us ful wh n s tting up your spray patt rn with th fan nozzl . You can spray wat r inst ad of wasting
spray mat rial to vi w th spray patt rn.
S cond, th quick cl an syst m allows you to flush th pump ass mbly, th piston, th nozzl and th atomiz r valv .
Wh n spraying for long p riods of tim , spray mat rial may build up causing a d t rioration of th spray quality. It is
good to flush this syst m with wat r or cl aning liquid aft r v ry oth r spray mat rial r fill. It is also important to flush
th syst m wh n th spray r will sit for mor than 15 minut s without us . Spray mat rial can dry on th nozzl and
pump ass mbly and would r quir a thorough cl aning. Always oil piston if sitting idl for a long p riod of tim . S

HOW TO USE THE QUICK CLEAN SYSTEM
• Unplug th spray r from th pow r sourc .
• Fill th quick cl an fill cup, to th 95ml fill lin ,
with wat r or th approprat cl aning solution.
• Op n th quick cl an door, and pour in th
cl aning solution as shown in figu e O.Do not
ove fill the ese voi .
• Switch th quick cl an l v r from paint to
cl an (figu e O1).
• Plug in th spray r.
• Spray into a wast contain r, cardboard box or
t st surfac to compl t ly flush th spray r
syst m.
• Onc th spray patt rn turns to only th color
of th cl aning solution, b gin cl aning.

NOTICE: Please note, this is not the final
cleaning step.
