OVERVIEW
Every day you face the music, give the hard speeches,
make the sale, and represent your company to the masses.
You’re the consummate professional giving presentations.
So when you need to really wow the audience, you and a
partner can enhance your professional image with the
ServSwitch™Brand CAT5 Keyboard and Mouse Extender Kit.
The kit enables your partner to operate the computer
from the rear of your presentation area while you give the
pitch in the front to the audience. There are no distractions,
and you’re free from standing next to a computer.
For example, you can attach a laptop computer between
a projector and the local unit, then run Category 5 UTP or STP
cable from the local module to the remote module. Connect
a keyboard or mouse to the remote module, and your partner
is able to run computer graphics from the back of the room.
All keyboard and mouse signals are fully buffered to
ensure consistent remote operation of your computer.
The kit also offers surge protection on the CAT5 link to
protect against damage from overvoltages, surges, or spikes.
The ServSwitch Brand CAT5 Keyboard and Mouse Extender
Kit works with all operating systems, no software required.
Setup is fast and simple, too. Use the included coax
extension cables to attach the CPU to the local module.
Next, plug the remote keyboard and mouse into the remote
module. Using CAT5 cable, connect the local and remote
modules. Then connect the included power supply to the
remote module. That’s it—you and your partner are ready
to knock ’em dead.
Because the extender performs complete PS/2 keyboard
and mouse emulation, you can boot a computer without
having a keyboard or mouse attached to the CPU. The com-
puter will start up even if the remote module is not powered
or has no keyboard or mouse connected to it.
The ServSwitch Brand CAT5 Keyboard and Mouse Extender
Kit is also compatible with the Microsoft®IntelliMouse®. Use
the kit with this mouse and other wheel mice with confidence.

Recognize any of these situations?
• You wait more than 30 minutes to get through
to a vendor’s tech support.
• The so-called “tech” can’t help you or gives you
the wrong answer.
• You don’t have a purchase order number and the
tech refuses to help you.
• It’s 9 p. m. and you need help, but your vendor’s
tech support line is closed.
According to a survey by Data Communications
magazine, 90% of network managers surveyed say
that getting the technical support they need is extremely
important when choosing a vendor. But even though
network managers pay anywhere from 10 to 20% of their
overall purchase price for a basic service and support
contract, the technical support and service they receive
falls far short of their expectations—and certainly isn’t
worth what they paid.
At Black Box, we guarantee the best value and the
best support. You can even consult our Technical Support
Experts before you buy if you need help selecting just
the right component for your application.
Don’t waste time and money—call Black Box today.
