Set Up Your Scanner
1. Attach the ADF firmly until it locks into place.
2. Pull the Extendable Tray from the ADF.
3. Extend the Output Tray to match the length of the document pages.

• (ADS-4900W) For Legal size documents, press the release button (1), and then extend the Output Tray.
(Legal size paper is not available in some regions.)

• If the Output Tray is even slightly longer than the document size, pages may not be in their original
order when you retrieve them from the Output Tray.
4. Lift and unfold the Document Stopper (1).

Do not use the ADF as a handle to carry the scanner.

1. Document Separation Switch
(Manual Single Mode) / (Continuous Feed Mode)
Slide to select the scanner feed mode.
2. Error Indicator (with LED)
Blinks when the machine detects an error.
3. (Power On/Off) (with LED)
Press to turn the machine on.
Press and hold to turn the machine off.
4. (Stop)
Press to stop or cancel your current action and return to Ready Mode.
5. (Scan to USB)
Press to scan to a USB flash drive.
6. (Scan to PC)
Press to scan to the computer.
Install a scanning application (for example, Brother iPrint&Scan) and configure the settings within the
application before scanning from the machine.
7. Network Device Scan Buttons
Press one of these shortcut buttons to perform a "Scan to" function, after you have assigned it.
You can assign one of these "Scan to" functions to use it as a shortcut.
• Scan to FTP/SFTP
• Scan to Network
• Scan to PC (Network Connect)
• WS Scan

Press to go back to the previous screen or menu.
3. (Home Button)
Press to return to the Home Screen and Ready Mode.
4. (Power On/Off) (with LED)
Press to turn the machine on.
Press and hold to turn the machine off. The LCD displays [Shutting Down] and stays on for a few
seconds before turning off.
5. (Stop)
Press to stop or cancel your current action and return to Ready Mode.
6. Touchscreen LCD
Access the menus and options by pressing the touchscreen.

Assign the Scan Functions to Network Device Scan Buttons 1-3
Related Models: ADS-4300N
Assign the following scan to network functions to each Network Device Scan Button if you want to use them as
shortcut buttons:
• Scan to FTP/SFTP
• Scan to Network
• Scan to PC (Network Connect)
• WS Scan
1. Start your web browser.
2. Type "https://machine's IP address" in your browser's address bar (where "machine's IP address" is the
machine's IP address).
For example:
https://192.168.1.2
3. If required, type the password in the Login field, and then click Login.
The default password to manage this machine’s settings is located on the back of the machine and marked
"Pwd".
4. Go to the navigation menu, and then click Scan > Scan to Network Device.
Start from , if the navigation menu is not shown on the left side of the screen.
5. Under Network Device1, click the Type drop-down menu and select the scan function you want to assign to
Network Device Scan Button 1.
6. Select a profile name from the Destination drop-down list.
7. Repeat these steps to configure Network Device Scan Buttons 2 and 3.
8. Click Submit.

Touchscreen LCD Overview

Home Screens
Your machine has eight tabbed screens (referred to as Home screens). Each Home screen can hold up to eight
icons which can be used for functions, machine settings and shortcuts. A total of 57 icons can be placed on the
Home screens as needed.
The Main Home screen can be selected from the Home screens.
Use the [Admin Settings] menu to group names on the tabs and rearrange the icons.

1. Date & Time
Displays the date and time set on the machine.
This area is also used to display error or maintenance messages.
2. (Wi-Fi Direct Status)
Press to configure Wi-Fi Direct settings.
The following icons show the Wi-Fi Direct status:
• Your machine is not connected to the Wi-Fi Direct network.
Press this icon to configure Wi-Fi Direct settings.
• The Wi-Fi Direct setting is disabled.
Your machine is connected to the Wi-Fi Direct network.
The Wi-Fi Direct network cannot be detected.
