Canon imageRunner 60 User manual

The high-volume print
production system offering superior power,
control and document-finishing capabilities.
Continuing with Canon’s reputation as the
leading provider of high-performance
networked office solutions, Canon presents the
imageRUNNER™60 Print Production System.
Operating at 60 pages per minute, delivering
the highest output quality in its class, connecting
seamlessly to your existing network, and
driving a new level of finishing capabilities,
the imageRUNNER 60 handles the demands
of high-quality, production-level printing with
ease. Leveraging Canon’s extensive expertise
in engine design, the imageRUNNER 60 comes
equipped with the most robust engine in
Canon’s digital product line, making it ideal for
the high-volume needs of distributed printing,
central reprographic departments, and print-on-
demand applications. When you’re looking for
high-performance printing, look to the Canon
imageRUNNER 60. It’s the complete print
production system that makes you look and
perform your best …60 times a minute.
Setting New Performance
Benchmarks
Canon pioneered connecting office
equipment to networks. With the
imageRUNNER 60, we have
leveraged this expertise to set a new
performance standard–one that few
competitors can equal.
The key to imageRUNNER 60
network performance is the newly
designed Network Print Controller,
which installs directly into the main
unit. The imageRUNNER 60 Network
Print Controller is built around a fast
MIPS R5000 200MHz RISC processor,
the most powerful in its class, and
integrates both print-processing and
network connectivity on one board.
Delivering support for PCL®5e and
Adobe®PostScript® 3 standards, the
Network Print Controller provides
support for the most robust print-
processing languages in use today.
Combined with its standard
connectivity for 10/100 Ethernet
networks or optional Token Ring
connection, the imageRUNNER 60
is in a class by itself.
Connectivity Software
Makes it Simple
The Network Print Controller ships
with a suite of software that makes
connecting to networks and driving
output simple. All Network Print
Controllers ship standard with Canon’s
NetSpot™Device Management Software
for installation, configuration and
management of network-connected
imageRUNNER 60 systems.
With NetSpot, systems administrators
and end-users can manage and remotely
monitor imageRUNNER 60 systems,
receiving device status, job queue, system
configuration, and setup information
from anywhere on the network.
The power of NetSpot is not only
available for Canon networked office
systems, but also for third-party
printers from Hewlett-Packard,
Lexmark and Xerox, dramatically
extending NetSpot’s capabilities
in the enterprise.
Document-handling
at the Click of a Button
In addition to shipping with NetSpot
Device Management Software, all
imageRUNNER 60 units come
standard with intuitive printer driver
software and job-management
utilities designed to drive all system
functionality to the user’s desktop
in an easy-to-use fashion.
Whether in the form of printer drivers,
network job submission utilities or
job-management software, access to
the numerous document-handling,
throughput, and finishing functions
of the imageRUNNER 60 is as easy
as a few clicks of the mouse.
Our goal is simple:
to provide you with the best solutions
to your document- and information-
management needs.
Driver: The imageRUNNER 60’s intuitive printer driver
software automatically configures itself on users’ desktops,
and simplifies job setup and delivery.
NetSpot’s Features Tab
allows systems administrators
and end-users to immediately
identify imageRUNNER 60
device configurations most
appropriate for their required
applications and output.
NetSpot’s Status Tab provides
systems administrators and end-
users with detailed information
concerning imageRUNNER 60
operational status. Detailing all
trouble conditions existing at a
given imageRUNNER 60 device,
users are provided with instructions
on alleviating error conditions,
and are informed of appropriate
support personnel.
Uncompromising Speed
The imageRUNNER 60 delivers an
uncompromising print speed of 60
pages per minute –that’s a page every
second. When your jobs demand quick
output, the imageRUNNER 60 is up to
the task, and unlike some competitive
machines which slow down when
printing at a high resolution, the
imageRUNNER 60 delivers this speed
at 1200 x 600 dpi resolution, the
highest in its class.
The Highest Output Quality
in its Class
Expanding on Canon’s world-class
leadership in image quality, the
imageRUNNER 60 captures the highest
level of detail in every document,
delivering print output at an astounding
1200 x 600 dpi resolution. When
combined with its ability to support up
to 256 shades of gray, the superiority of
imageRUNNER 60 output is clear to see.
Paper Capacity Designed
to Keep You Running
Tired of reloading paper in your current
machines? With the imageRUNNER 60,
you can forget about frequent reloading.
That’s because the imageRUNNER 60
ships with a standard paper capacity
of 4,150 sheets. If that’s not enough,
add the imageRUNNER 60’s optional
3,500-sheet Paper Deck, which
brings total paper capacity to an
unmatched 7,650 sheets.
The imageRUNNER 60’s ability to
hold up to 7,650 sheets of on-line
paper capacity is surpassed only by
the paper sizes and stocks supported.
From statement to 11" x 17", and with
added support for specialty stocks
such as labels and transparencies, the
imageRUNNER 60 is ideally suited to
today’s business applications.
Unique to the imageRUNNER 60 is
the ability to feed from 17 lb. Bond to
110 lb. Index stock from all available
paper sources. This support is of great
significance when performing print jobs
requiring covers or multiple paper stocks.
For your high-volume print requirements,
the imageRUNNER 60 offers a wide
range of imaging features guaranteed
to make your documents look their best.
The imageRUNNER 60
sets new standards
for production-level output.
The imageRUNNER 60’s
optional Paper Deck
expands total paper
capacity by 3,500 sheets
and is ideal for production-
level environments.
When fully configured,
the imageRUNNER 60
delivers 7,650 sheets of
on-line paper, the highest
in its class.
The imageRUNNER 60’s
user-friendly Control Panel
provides access to features
including Confidential User
Mailboxes, Print Monitor Status,
and device setup information.
Completing the Job
From Start to Finish
While the competition is content
to offer stapled output, Canon’s
imageRUNNER 60 raises the bar,
offering the most extensive level
of document-finishing in its class.
The imageRUNNER 60 offers the
choice of two finishers, both designed
to enhance productivity and limit the
steps required to complete print jobs.
The imageRUNNER 60 Stapler Stacker
offers two trays to handle statement-
to ledger-sized output. With a total
output capacity of up to 2,250 sheets,
the Stapler Stacker can handle even
the longest print runs. With the ability to
staple up to 50 sheets in any corner
of the page, or place two staples in the
left- or right-hand page margins, the
imageRUNNER 60 finishes the job in style.
If your finishing needs are more
extensive, Canon offers the Saddle-
stitch Finisher. The imageRUNNER 60
Saddle-stitch Finisher holds a total
of 3,900 sheets of paper–3,000 in
the top two trays and 900 in the tray
designated for saddle-stitched output.
The Saddle-stitch Finisher delivers the
same finishing capabilities as the
Stapler Stacker, but extends these
capabilities by offering 3-hole-punched
and saddle-stitched output as standard.
For those special finishing applications,
the imageRUNNER 60 Saddle-stitch
Finisher can be equipped with the
optional Z-folding Unit for folding
11" x 17" documents into letter-sized
output. In addition, the Saddle-stitch
Finisher will also support an optional
Cover Inserter, designed to deliver
post-process cover inserts.
An Impressive Lineage
The imageRUNNER 60 is the newest
and most powerful member of the most
innovative family of digital networked
products available.
Canon’s pioneering efforts in creating
the digital workplace have provided
us with a considerable advantage in
identifying emerging customer needs.
This experience, combined with our
exhaustive funding of new research
and development, have allowed us
to assume a commanding position in
the digital office products marketplace.
Our goal is simple: to provide you with
the best solutions to your document- and
information-management needs. Canon’s
networked office systems, including the
imageRUNNER 60, have been specifically
designed to meet this goal.
When considering the imageRUNNER 60’s
60-page-per-minute speed, 1200 x 600 dpi
image quality, high-end document-
finishing, and effortless networking,
we think you will agree that the
imageRUNNER 60 is a solution that
is truly unique among today’s competitive
offerings, and one destined to make your
business more effective and productive.

the Saddle-stitch
Finisher, users can
produce fully completed,
