What You Can Do with This Machine
In addition to normal copying functions, convenient
new functions are provided to increase your
efficiency, such as “2 on 1 Combination” which
enables you to automatically reduce two originals
to fit onto the selected paper size, and “Different
Size Originals” for copying originals of different
sizes together in one copy operation, are provided to
increase your efficiency.

Copying Functions
The following is a description of the basic copying of documents. For more detailed procedures, see references to
other guides.
Place Your Originals
If you place your originals on the platen glass, close
the feeder/platen glass cover.
Place your originals.
For more information on the copy modes you
can set using Standard Features, see p. 9, p. 10,
p. 11 and p. 12, using Special Features, see
p. 13 and p. 14.
Preparation
When a message appears on the LCD display, follow
the instructions.
If the machine is in Sleep mode, press
[ON/OFF].
If the message <INSERT CONTROL CARD>
appears, insert a control card.
For more information, see Chapter 2, “Basic
Operations,” in the Reference Guide.
For more information on the copy modes you
can set on the Additional Functions, see p. 17.
To set the various copy modes, press [Additional
Functions] and select <COPY SETTINGS>.
You can also place paper in the Stack Bypass to
copy. (For more information, see Chapter 2, “Basic
Operations,” in the Reference Guide.)

Enter the desired number of copies (1 to 99)
with the numeric keys.
Specify the Number of Copies
If you make a mistake when entering values, press
[Clear] enter the correct values.
The number of copies you specify is displayed
on the right-hand side of the LCD display.
Start Copying
When copying is complete, remove your originals.
Press [Start].
Press [Stop].
To cancel copying
When a message appears on the LCD display, press
or to select the size, and press [Start]
again.

To Enlarge/Reduce an Image to Copy to a
Different Size Paper
Copying Guide Chapter 1
Useful when enlarging or reducing an original of one standard paper size to another, such
as enlarging an A4 original to A3 size, or reducing A3 to A4 size. Simply select the desired
paper size from the displayed keys to automatically set the optimum zoom ratio. If you press
[Copy Ratio] twice, you can enter the copy ratio from 50% to 200%, can be selected in
increments of 1% by or .

Copies are automatically offset collated or stapled into sets arranged in page order,
and output to the trays, as shown below.
The following is an explanation of the
optional features often used when copying
a document. For more detailed procedures,
see references to other guides. This section
explains copying different size originals,
making offset collate and staple copies and
making two-sided copies.
Different Size Original mode enables you to copy different size originals with the
same width, together as one group. You can select <SAME WIDTH> or <DIFFERENT
WIDTH>.

Enables you to specify the settings for common functions.

AUTO DRAWER SELCT
You can set the paper drawers to be used for Automatic
Paper Selection and Automatic Drawer Switching. This
setting can be made separately for copy, printer, and fax.
REG. PAPER TYPE
You can set the paper type you use in the drawer.
TRAY DESIGNATION
You can select the function for two output trays (Tray A and
Tray B) of the optional Inner 2 Way Tray-E1 or Additional
Finisher Tray-C1 to be used.
BYPASS STD SET
Set the standard paper size and type for the stack bypass
if you always use the same paper size and type. You do not
need to select the paper size and type each time you use the
stack bypass.
DISPLAY LANGUAGE
You can select the language displayed on the LCD display.
ADF DIRTY ERROR
ENERGY IN SLEEP
You can select the power consumption when the machine is
in the Auto Sleep mode between the two levels: <HIGH> and
<LOW>.
PAPER FEED SWITCH
You can switch the paper feed method for paper loaded in
the machine. This is useful when you want to make one-
sided or two-sided prints on preprinted paper (paper which
has logos or patterns already printed on it) without changing
the orientation of the paper loaded in paper source.

You can restore all the Common Settings to their defaults
(initial settings).
You can set this function to ON to display the error message
on the LCD if there is dust in the feeder.

You can set the sharpness of the copied image. If you want
to copy texts and lines clearly, increase the sharpness level.
If you want to copy a halftone original such as a picture,
decrease the sharpness level.
You can select a paper size group for your machine.
You can set the unit of measurement of the frame erase
width for Frame Erase function.
Modes that have been changed in Copy Settings (from the
Additional Function menu) can be restored to their default
settings.

Enables you to specify the settings for timer, reports, or cleaning functions.
Press [Additional Functions]
Press or and select <TIMER SETTINGS> or
<REPORT SETTINGS> or <ADJUST./CLEANING>
When you have finished making the settings, press [Stop]

When the machine remains idle for a certain period of time,
it enters the Auto Sleep mode. You can specify the amount
of time that must be taken before going into Auto Sleep
mode from 3 to 30 minutes in one-minute increments, and
can also be set to <OFF>.
If the machine remains idle for a certain period of time, the
display returns to the standby mode (Auto Clear Function).
Auto Clear Time can be set from 1 to 9 minutes in one-
minute increments, and can also be set to <OFF>.
