Introduction
Zodiac FR100™ facial recognition reader is Cansec’s newest addition to its
industry leading line of biometric readers.
The FR100™ leads the way with cutting edge technology and simplicity of use.
Capable of storing 500 user templates, it offers a read response of less than 1
second, sending the user’s Wiegand data to any access control panel to provide
accurate user validation. Alternatively, using its internal relay in stand-alone
mode, it can be used to restrict access to CNC machines, punch presses, or other
equipment which must only be operated by trained personnel.
User enrollment is done quickly and easily at the reader by an administrator in
less than a minute. User templates can be exported and imported via network or
USB connectivity to simplify management of multi-reader installations.

DIODES
Diodes are required for inductive loads such as electric strikes/locks. Failure
to use appropriate diodes will void the reader warranty.
TERMINAL STRIPS AND CABLE
Use MARR Connectors
If you are bringing in cable that is too large for the terminal
strip, use a MARR connector (wire nut, marrette, thimble
connector, cone connector). Splice the thicker cable to a cable
that is the appropriate thickness, and then run the thinner
cable to the terminal strip on the control panel.
Use Splices for Parallel Wiring
The terminal strips are designed to allow one cable per hole.
If you need to connect multiple cables in a single hole, use a
MARR connector (wire nut, marrette, thimble connector,
cone connector). Splice multiple cables to a single cable, and
then run the single cable to the terminal strip on the control
panel.
NOTE: When determining power supply current requirements, you must consider lock
and reader current draw if using the same supply for these devices.
NOTE:
Installation of magnetic locks is not supported with this reader
.
NOTE: The lock must have a diode installed to prevent “back EMF” from
damaging the reader.

and vice versa.
Pin 8 & 9 are internally connected. Both pins
have the same ground.
Those extra pins are provided for wiring
convenience, e.g. use pin 6 & 8 to power the
reader and pin 7 & 9 to power other device

Reader Installation
Do not install the reader in a place subject to direct sunlight, humidity and dust.
Do not install the reader close to a magnet, CRT, TV, monitor or speaker. They
may damage the reader.
Do not to let liquid like water, drinks or chemicals leak inside the device.
Use either supplied transformer OR terminal block for reader power input.

READER MOUNTING
1. Do not install the mounting plate to the reader until the last step.
2. Connect cables with terminal blocks through the gap of the mounting
plate as shown.
See Wiegand reader wiring section
.
3. If necessary, connect an Ethernet cable (RJ-45) to the RJ-45 jack through
the gap of the mounting plate.
4. If mounted as a standalone reader, use the supplied transformer and plug
the connector to the 12VDC port through the gap of the mounting plate.
5. Install the mounting plate to the wall (1.15 to 1.20 m above the ground).
See mounting plate section above for more information
.
6. Mount the reader to the mounting plate using the mounting holes and the
mounting studs and ensure it is rested steadily on the mounting plate.
7. Tighten screws at the bottom of the mounting plate to the reader.
