Zodiac LITE Installation Instructions May 2008 !Rev 1.5
Introduction
The Zodiac LITE biometric fingerprint reader allows all programming and user management to take place right at
the reader, without having to run cables to a PC. Up to 90 user templates can be stored in the reader’s non-volatile
memory. When used with a power supply and a door control module, this reader becomes the focal point of a 100
per cent PC-free, stand-alone door access control system.

Zodiac Door Control Module
The Zodiac Door Control Module (ZDCM) is available in two mounting assemblies. In either case the ZDCM
should be installed on the secure side of the door.
1. HEATSHRUNK PCB
The standard mounting method for the ZDCM
is to simply place the entire ZDCM into a wall
cavity or a standard single-gang box. Screws are
not required to mount the board. The PCB is
insulated with heat shrink tubing. The
connector and labels are exposed for device
connectivity. After connections are complete,
the module can be placed in a secure location. If
you place the ZDCM in a standard electrical box,
a gang plate cover can be used to cover the opening of the
electrical box.
2. MOUNTED ON A SINGLE GANGPLATE
The second mounting method
available is to have the ZDCM
pre-mounted on a standard single-
gang electrical plate. After wiring is
complete, simply screw the ZDCM
into a standard single-gang electrical
box.

ARE YOU USING A DOOR CONTACT ON THE ZDCM?
NO – You must short the door contact points on the board (see diagram at right). Unlock
time is fixed at seven (7) seconds. The right LED on the front of the reader will turn
GREEN during the unlock time.
YES – Unlock time is seven (7) seconds. However, when you open and re-close the door before the unlock time
ends, the unlock time is terminated and the door will relock upon closing. The right LED on the front of
the reader will turn GREEN when the door contact opens and turn RED when the door contact closes.
