Assembly
Folding
The CareCo Aspire Transit Wheelchair will
come fully assembled with the exception of
the legrests. Simply take the wheelchair out of
its packaging and pull the armrests apart, then
push the seat base down until in the horizontal
position.
Release the push in clip half way down the leg-
rest by pushing the silver protruding button and
sliding the black clip out from the rear. Loosen
the black twist screw which is highlighted by the
arrow in the below image. The footrest can then
be adjusted to one of the fixed height positions.
Fix to this height by reinserting the black chip so
the silver button is showing at the front of leg-
rest. Tighten the black twist screw underneath
to secure in place.
The CareCo Aspire Transit Wheelchair has been
designed to fold for ease of transportation and
storage. Ensure the footrests are in the forward
position and flip the plastic footplates up.
!
The backrest also has a half-folding back which
can be used to make the Aspire even more
compact. Push the black paddle at the rear of
the chair with your thumb whilst pulling the
handle down.
Repeat on the paddle on the other side. To
return the backrest to the upright position,
simply push the two handles back up into the
upright position until the backrest locks in
place.
WARNING
Do not push down on the handles to raise the front of the wheel-
chair as this could result in damage to your Aspire Wheelchair. Use
the stepper tube as described further on in this manual.
Whilst holding the two seat straps on either
side of the seat canvas, pull upwards to fold the
chair.

forward and lifts the rear of the wheelchair up
onto the kerb.
Going down a Kerb – Approach the kerb head
on. The attendant/carer pushes down with their
foot on the stepper tube at the rear and gently
lowers the front castors to the ground. The
attendant/carer then pushes the wheelchair
forward and gently lowers the rear castors to
the ground.
The lap belt is designed to restrain the

• The Aspire Wheelchair can only be propelled
by the attendant/carer from the rear of the
wheelchair.

operation.

lap belt should be tight around the user’s pelvis
(without causing discomfort) and the user’s hips
and pelvis should be held in place towards the
rear of the Aspire Wheelchair. The lap belt has
a luggage style large locking clip to fasten and
unfasten. Push the clip into the receiver until
it locks into position. The lap belt may not be
suitable for all users of the wheelchair. Seek
professional medical advice before using the
