SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
Installation of this equipment can be hazardous due to sys-
tem pressures, electrical components, and equipment location.
Only trained, qualified installers and service technicians should
install, repair, or service this equipment.
When working on air-conditioning equipment, observe pre-
cautions in the literature, tags and labels attached to the unit,
and other safety precautions that may apply.
GENERAL
The accessory crankcase heater warms the compressor
crankcase oil to reduce refrigerant migration in the crankcase
and ensure proper compressor lubrication. Refer to Tables 1A
and 1B for crankcase heater usage.

thoroughly BEFORE starting installation.
Before performing service or maintenance operations on
unit, turn off gas supply, then main power switch to the unit.
Electrical shock can cause personal injury or death. TAG
DISCONNECT WITH SUITABLE WARNING LABEL.

INSTALLATION
1. Turn off gas supply, then main power supply to unit.
2. Remove access panel for compressor and control box.
See Fig. 1.
3. Spread crankcase heater arms and slide crankcase
heater over the top of the compressor. See Fig. 1.
4. Wrap heater around compressor base approximately
2 in. above compressor mounting plate.
5. Fasten heater firmly in place with fastening clip
(Fig. 1) provided with the crankcase heater.
6. Route crankcase heater leads into unit control box, fol-
lowing the path of the compressor leads. See Fig. 1.
7. Connect one black lead to the compressor contactor
terminal 11, and connect other black lead to compres-
sor contactor terminal 13 for 3-phase units; 23 (line
side) for single-phase units. See Fig. 2.
8. Attach green crankcase heater ground lead to ground
screw in control box.
9. Replace access panel.
10. Turn on main power supply, then gas supply.
