Thank you for purchasing a CARVIN®SkimTech 500 above ground pool skimmer
(“Product”).
We want to help you get the best results from your new Product and operate it
safely. This manual contains information on how to do that; please read it carefully
before installing and using the pool. If a problem should arise, or if you have any
questions about your product, consult an authorized CARVIN®retailer or distributor.
All the information in this manual is based on the latest Product information
available at the time of publication. The manufacturer reserves the right to make
changes at any time without notice and without incurring any obligation. No part of
this publication may be reproduced without written permission.

INSTALLATION
Before starting the installation of your skimmer & return, make sure you have all the
necessary tools listed below. Check the contents in the box make sure everything
is there before starting your installation. All parts included in the box are important
and should all be installed. If parts are left out from the installation, this could cause
serious failure of the skimmer and return. Once the installation is started, it should
be completed as soon as
possible.
If a part is missing or defective, please contact
your CARVIN®retailer were your purchase was made.
TOOLS
• Drill with screwdriver bit #3
• Screwdriver bit #3 Phillips or Robertson
• Sharp tool
• Sharp knife
REQUIRED MATERIAL
• Carvin Skimmer 94114 XXX
REQUIRED POOL EQUIPMENT
A basic circulation and ltration system MUST BE INSTALLED. This system includes
the following products by installation order:
• Pool
• Pool pump
• Filter
• Flexible hose
• PVC-ABS glue
The warranty of the product will be canceled if all instal-
lation requirements and guidelines are not respected.
WARNING
IMPORTANT TO CONSIDER BEFORE INSTALLING
1. Follow the installation steps thoroughly without omitting anything. It can result in
serious accidents.
2. Omitting installation steps may result in a leaking skimmer and/or leaking water
return. Any leak could rust the wall and seriously damage the structure of your pool.
The manufacturer of your product has no responsibility for any omission of the
installation steps contained in this manual or a non-compliant installation.
SKIMMER INSTALLATION STEPS
STEP 1
Add the sealing washer on each screw.
STEP 2
From the outside of the pool, install the gasket on the opening for the skimmer.
Make sure the gasket is well seated all around the wall edge, gasket lips lay
at on each side of the pool wall, gasket holes aligned to the screw holes.
STEP 3
From the inside of the pool, locate the cutout and gasket through the liner and press
the faceplate ush to the gasket (which is underneath the liner).

Using a sharp tool to punch the liner in the two top corner holes of the face plate

Before installing the skimmer and return make sure your
pool have at least 2 ft of water. Let the liner stretch and take
its position before starting any installation step.
If your pool is empty or has not enough water, it may result in a leaking skimmer and
a leaking water return.

STEP 5
From the outside, aligned the skimmer body holes with the face plate holes.
Install the rest of the screws, slightly tightened, DO NOT FORGET TO ADD SEALING
WASHER.
Finally, rmly* tighten all screws evenly, alternately left and right, top and bottom,
DO NOT FORGET TO ADD SEALING WASHER.
STEP 6
Using a razor knife, carefully trim only the liner as shown on gure below making
sure not to cut the gasket.

Gently insert the beauty face plate over the face plate.
Push rmy until it snaps on the face plate.

Insert basket from the top opening of the skimmer.

Position the basket by turning and inserting the locator detail in its pocket.
STEP 9
Insert weir from the top opening of the skimmer.

Clip the weir inside the mouth of the skimmer inserting the two posts in the holes.

STEP 10
The vacuum plate is designed to be stored under the skimmer cover.
Gently insert the vacuum plate on the cover and twist a quarter turn.
STEP 11
Insert front tab of the cover then rotate down the cover to lock it on the skimmer
body.
STEP 12
Connect the skimmer to the pump inlet.
We recommend to use a Carvin quick connect tting (not included).

WATER RETURN INSTALLATION STEPS
STEP 1
From the outside, install the gasket in the circular cutout of the pool wall.
Make sure the gasket lips lay at on the each side of the pool wall.
STEP 2
From the inside of the pool, locate the hole and gasket through the liner.
Using a razor knife, carefully make 2 cuts (cross shape) in the liner as shown making
sure not to cut the gasket, IMPORTANT TO STOP THE CUTS BEFORE THE GASKET.

STEP 4
From the outside, add the plastic at ring, then install the lock nut and rmly tight to
secure the water return body.
STEP 5
If needed, install the hose adapter.

From the inside, install the adjustable eyeball parts.
Do not tight the assembly, as you need to adjust the direction of the jet, SEE NEXT
STEP FOR DETAILS.

From the inside of the pool, slide the water return body part through the cuts, until it
touches the wall.

STEP 6.1
Align the eyeball away from the skimmer with a 45 degree angle with the bottom of
the pool. This direction will allow a better circulation of your water.

VACUUMING
1- Fill the vacuum pipe using the water from the return until not more air bubble
come out.
2- STOP the pump.
3- Install vacuum plate at the end of the vacuum pipe.
4- Place the vacuum plate in the skimmer inserting the locator details in its pocket.
WINTEREZING
SKIMMER WINTEREZING
1- Drop water level 18’’ under the skimmer.
2- Disconnect the hose that connects the skimmer to the pump, clean the hose and
store it.
3- Remove the basket.
4- Grab the pool skimmer foam kit (sold at your pool shop).
5- Place the round piece of foam at the bottom of your skimmer.
6- From the inside of the pool, place the second foam piece inside the skimmer
through the mouth.
7- From the top, x the foam pieces together by sliding the wooden skewer through
both pieces.
8- Replace the cover.
WATER RETURN
1- Unscrew the ring and eyeball ring and the eyeball.
2- Use the removal wrench (sold at your pool shop) to unscrew the internal tting of
the water return.
3- Insert the winterizing plug (sold at your pool shop) or a generic expandable plug to
properly seal the opening.
OPERATING
1- You can start the pump once all the components are connected.
2- Inspect skimmer, water return and all pipe connection to make sure there is no
leak.
3- Inspect and empty basket skimmer periodictly.
4- Maintain water level between the min and max marking on the beauty face plate.
FILLING THE POOL
Raise the water level up to the minimum height (check the logo on the decorative
plate).
From the outside, inspect your skimmer and water return to make sure there is no
leak. ANY LEAK COULD RUST THE WALL AND SERIOUSLY DAMAGE THE STRUC-
TURE OF YOUR POOL.
If you don’t see any leak, we highly recommend to check once again after 24 hours
If you see some leak around the skimmer, you can try to tight a little bit more the
skimmer screws. If you see some leak around the water return, you can try to tight
a little bit more the lock nut. If it’s still leaking, both for skimmer and water return,
there might be an issue with your gasket positioning.
Then, you need to uninstall the skimmer and/or the water returnand start again the
installation following all the steps thoroughly.
5- START the pump and validate the vacuum is good at the end of the vacuum head
brush.
6- If succion reduce during your pool cleaning, Stop the pump, remove the vacuum
plate and clean the skimmer basket.
Never pour chemical products through the skimmer. This could cause
major problems and long term damage to your ltration system.

Authorized CARVIN®retailer or distributor personnel are trained professionals.
They should be able to answer any question you may have. If you encounter a
problem that your retailer or distributor does not solve to your satisfaction, please
discuss it with the retailer’s or distributor’s management. The Service Manager,
General Manager, or Owner can help. Almost all problems are solved in this way.
If you are dissatised with the decision made by the retailer’s or distributor’s
management, contact the CARVIN®technical support.
When you write or call, please provide the following information:
• Product model, serial number and date code;
• Name of retailer or distributor who sold the Product to you;
• The original proof of purchase showing the date of purchase;
• Your name, address and telephone number;
• A detailed description of the problem; and
• If sending an email, any relevant photos of the Product and its surroundings.
WARRANTY
Le Groupe VIF Inc. (“VIF”), owner and manufacturer of the CARVIN®Pool Equipment
brand, gives the following written Warranty on each new Product manufactured by
or on behalf of VIF and distributed for sale in America.
VIF guarantees that each new Product will be free from any defects, in material
or workmanship, for the Warranty period set below, under normal use and main-
tenance. If any defects should be found in a Product within the period set below
and when VIF acknowledges that such defects are attributable to faulty material or
workmanship at the time of manufacturing, at its discretion VIF will replace or repair
with a new part or the CARVIN®equivalent, at no cost to the consumer for parts and
labour.
The Warranty Period coverage starts from the original date of sale or when the unit

Replacement parts are available through your CARVIN®retailer or distributor.
REPLACEMENT PARTS WARRANTY

replacement parts sold to a consumer or installed by an authorized
CARVIN

retailer which are not covered by this Warranty are guaranteed for a period of
3 months, however, this Replacement Parts Warranty does not apply to any replacement
parts modied, used with, or installed on a Product for which the replacement parts
were not intended.
ENTIRE WRITTEN WARRANTY
This Warranty is the only and the entire written Warranty given by VIF for its Product. No
retailer or his agent or employee is authorized to extend or enlarge on these warranties
on behalf of VIF by any written or verbal statement or advertisement.

You must rst contact your authorized CARVIN

retailer or distributor. Please refer to
section Customer Information.
Any defect must be reported to an authorized CARVIN

retailer or distributor within 72

This Warranty covers:
• Any Product purchased from a CARVIN®retailer or distributor authorized to sell
that product in America.
• Any Product on which required maintenance services have been performed
as prescribed in this manual.
This Warranty does not cover:
• Any repairs required as a result of collision, striking any object, frost, acts of God,
careless use, misuse, improper installation, improper ground preparation, improper
winterization, or lack of maintenance described in this manual;
• Any repairs required as a result of the failure, breakage, careless use, misuse,
improper installation, or lack of maintenance of another pool equipment or accesso-
ries, such as, but not limited to, the liner, ladder, skimmer, water return, water return
light, or winter cover;
• Any repairs required due to rust caused by improper installation, lack of mainte-
nance, or leakage, of the water return, water return light, or skimmer;
• Any Product modied, altered, disassembled, or remodelled;
• Shipping related costs to and from the manufacturer;
• Installation and removal related costs; and
• Normal maintenance services or water chemistry analysis services described in
thismanual.
