Carefullystudytheseprecautions,andthoseincludedintheexternalattachmentoperators
manual,andinsistthattheybefollowedbythoseworkingwithandforyou.
1.ThoroughlyreadandunderstandthismanualandtheattachmentOperator’sManualbeforeoperatingthisorany
otherequipment.
2.Besureallpeopleandpetsareclearofthemachinebeforestarting.Soundthehorn,ifequipped,threetimes
beforestartingengine.
3.Onlytheoperatorshouldbeonthemachinewheninoperation.Neverallowanyonetoclimbontothemachine
whileitisinmotion.IfthemachineisequippedwithanInstructorsSeat,thismustonlybeusedfortraining
purposes.PassengersmustnotbeallowedtousetheInstructorsSeat.
4.Keepallshieldsinplace.Neverworkaroundthemachineoranyoftheattachmentswhilewearinglooseclothing
thatmightcatchonmovingparts.
5.Observethefollowingprecautionswheneverlubricatingthemachineormakingadjustments.
•Disengageallclutchingleversorswitches.
•Lowertheattachment,ifequipped,tothegroundorraisetheattachmentcompletelyandengagethecylinder
safetylocks.Completingtheseactionswillpreventtheattachmentfromloweringunexpectedly.
•Engagetheparkingbrake.
•Shutofftheengineandremovethekey.
•Waitforallmachinemovementtostopbeforeleavingtheoperatorsplatform.
6.Alwayskeepthemachineingearwhiletravellingdownhill.
7.Themachineshouldalwaysbeequippedwithsufcientfrontorrearaxleweightforsafeoperation.
8.Undersomeeldconditions,moreweightmayberequiredatthefrontorrearaxleforadequatestability.Thisis
especiallyimportantwhenoperatinginhillyconditionsor/whenusingheavyattachments.
9.Alwayslowertheattachment,shutofftheengine,settheparkingbrake,engagethetransmissiongears,remove
thekeyandwaitforallmachinemovementtostopbeforeleavingtheoperatorsplatform.
10.Iftheattachmentormachineshouldbecomeobstructedorplugged;settheparkingbrake,shutofftheengine
andremovethekey,engagethetransmissiongears,waitforallmachineorattachmentmotiontocometoastop,
beforeleavingtheoperatorsplatformtoremovingtheobstructionorplug.
11.Neverdisconnectormakeanyadjustmentstothehydraulicsystemunlessthemachineand/ortheattachmentis
loweredtothegroundorthesafetylock(s)isintheengagedposition.
12.Useoftheashinglightsishighlyrecommendedwhenoperatingonapublicroad.
13.Whentransportingonaroadorhighway,useaccessorylightsanddevicesforadequatewarningtotheopera-
torsofothervehicles.Inthisregard,checklocalgovernmentregulations.Varioussafetylightsanddevicesare
availablefromyourCASECONSTRUCTIONdealer.
14.Practicesafety365daysayear.
15.Keepallyourequipmentinsafeoperatingcondition.
16.Keepallguardsandsafetydevicesinplace.
17.Alwayssettheparkingbrake,shutofftheengineandremovethekey,engagethetransmissiongears,waitforall
machineorattachmentmotiontocometoastop,beforeleavingtheoperatorsplatformtoservicethemachine
andattachment.
18.Remember:Acarefuloperatoristhebestinsuranceagainstanaccident.

Soil,air,andwaterqualityisimportantforallindustriesandlifeingeneral.Whenlegislationdoesnotyetrulethe
treatmentofsomeofthesubstancesthatadvancedtechnologyrequires,soundjudgmentshouldgoverntheuseand
disposalofproductsofachemicalandpetrochemicalnature.
Familiarizeyourselfwiththerelativelegislationapplicabletoyourcountry,andmakesurethatyouunderstandthis
legislation.Wherenolegislationexists,obtaininformationfromsuppliersofoils,lters,batteries,fuels,anti-freeze,
cleaningagents,etc.,withregardtotheeffectofthesesubstancesonmanandnatureandhowtosafelystore,use,
anddisposeofthesesubstances.
Helpfulhints
•Avoidtheuseofcansorotherinappropriatepressurizedfueldeliverysystemstolltanks.Suchdeliverysystems
maycauseconsiderablespillage.
•Ingeneral,avoidskincontactwithallfuels,oils,acids,solvents,etc.Mostoftheseproductscontainsubstances
thatmaybeharmfultoyourhealth.
•Modernoilscontainadditives.Donotburncontaminatedfuelsandorwasteoilsinordinaryheatingsystems.
•Avoidspillagewhenyoudrainuidssuchasusedenginecoolantmixtures,engineoil,hydraulicuid,brakeuid,
etc.Donotmixdrainedbrakeuidsorfuelswithlubricants.Storealldraineduidssafelyuntilyoucandisposeof
theuidsinaproperwaythatcomplieswithalllocallegislationandavailableresources.
•Donotallowcoolantmixturestogetintothesoil.Collectanddisposeofcoolantmixturesproperly.
•Theair-conditioningsystemcontainsgasesthatshouldnotbereleasedintotheatmosphere.Consultanair-condi-
tioningspecialistoruseaspecialextractortorechargethesystemproperly.
•Repairanyleaksordefectsintheenginecoolingsystemorhydraulicsystemimmediately.
•Donotincreasethepressureinapressurizedcircuitasthismayleadtoacomponentfailure.
•Protecthosesduringwelding.Penetratingweldsplattermayburnaholeorweakenhoses,allowingthelossofoils,
coolant,etc.
Batteryrecycling
Batteriesandelectricaccumulatorscontainseveralsubstancesthatcanhaveaharmful
effectontheenvironmentifthebatteriesarenotproperlyrecycledafteruse.Improper
disposalofbatteriescancontaminatethesoil,groundwater,andwaterways.CASE
CONSTRUCTIONstronglyrecommendsthatyoureturnallusedbatteriestoaCASE
CONSTRUCTIONdealer,whowilldisposeoftheusedbatteriesorrecycletheused
batteriesproperly.Insomecountries,thisisalegalrequirement.
Mandatorybatteryrecycling
NOTE:ThefollowingrequirementsaremandatoryinBrazil.
Batteriesaremadeofleadplatesandasulfuricacidsolution.Becausebatteriescontainheavymetalssuchaslead,
CONAMAResolution401/2008requiresyoutoreturnallusedbatteriestothebatterydealerwhenyoureplaceany
batteries.Donotdisposeofbatteriesinyourhouseholdgarbage.

LubricatetheO-ringsealsbeforeyouinsertthemintheseats.ThiswillpreventtheO-ringsealsfromoverturningand
twisting,whichwouldjeopardizesealingefciency.
Sealingcompounds
Applyasealingcompoundonthematingsurfaceswhenspeciedbytheprocedure.Beforeyouapplythesealing
compound,preparethesurfacesasdirectedbytheproductcontainer.
Spareparts
OnlyuseCNHOriginalParts.
Onlygenuinesparepartsguaranteethesamequality,duration,andsafetyasoriginalparts,astheyarethesame
partsthatareassembledduringstandardproduction.OnlyCNHOriginalPartscanofferthisguarantee.
Whenorderingspareparts,alwaysprovidethefollowinginformation:
•Machinemodel(commercialname)andProductIdenticationNumber(PIN)

Protectingtheelectronicand/orelectricalsystemsduringchargingandwelding
Toavoiddamagetotheelectronicand/orelectricalsystems,alwaysobservethefollowingpractices:
1.Nevermakeorbreakanyofthechargingcircuitconnectionswhentheengineisrunning,includingthebattery
connections.
2.Nevershortanyofthechargingcomponentstoground.
3.Alwaysdisconnectthegroundcablefromthebatterybeforearcweldingonthemachineoronanymachine
attachment.
•Positiontheweldergroundclampasclosetotheweldingareaaspossible.
•Ifyouweldincloseproximitytoacomputermodule,thenyoushouldremovethemodulefromthemachine.
•Neverallowweldingcablestolieon,near,oracrossanyelectricalwiringorelectroniccomponentwhileyou
weld.
4.Alwaysdisconnectthenegativecablefromthebatterywhenchargingthebatteryinthemachinewithabattery
charger.
NOTICE:Ifyoumustweldontheunit,youmustdisconnectthebatterygroundcablefromthemachinebattery.
Theelectronicmonitoringsystemandchargingsystemwillbedamagedifthisisnotdone.
5.Removethebatterygroundcable.Reconnectthecablewhenyoucompletewelding.

Batteryacidcausesburns.Batteriescontainsulfuricacid.
Avoidcontactwithskin,eyesorclothing.Antidote(external):Flushwithwater.Antidote(eyes):ush

Contaminationinthehydraulicsystemisamajorcauseofthemalfunctionofhydrauliccomponents.Contamination
isanyforeignmaterialinthehydraulicoil.
Contaminationcanenterthehydraulicsysteminseveralways:
•Whenyoudraintheoilordisconnectanyline
•Whenyoudisassembleacomponent
•Fromnormalwearofthehydrauliccomponents
•Fromdamagedsealsorwornseals
•Fromadamagedcomponentinthehydraulicsystem
Allhydraulicsystemsoperatewithsomecontamination.Thedesignofthecomponentsinthishydraulicsystemper-
mitsefcientoperationwithasmallamountofcontamination.Anincreaseinthisamountofcontaminationcancause
problemsinthehydraulicsystem.
Thefollowinglistincludessomeoftheseproblems:
•Cylinderrodsealsthatleak
•Hydraulicoilthatbecomestoohot
•Pumpgears,housing,andotherpartsthatwearrapidly
•Reliefvalvesorcheckvalvesheldopenbydirt
•Quickfailureofcomponentsthathavebeenrepaired
•Themachinedoesnothaveenoughpower.
Ifyourmachinehasanyoftheseproblems,checkthehydraulicoilforcontamination.
Therearetwotypesofcontamination:microscopicandvisible.
Microscopiccontaminationoccurswhenveryneparticlesofforeignmaterialaresuspendedinthehydraulicoil.
Theseparticlesaretoosmalltoseeorfeel.Microscopiccontaminationcanbefoundbyidenticationofthefollowing
problemsorbytestinginalaboratory.
Examplesofproblemscausedbymicroscopiccontamination:
•Cylinderrodsealsthatleak
•Thehydraulicsystemhasahighoperatingtemperature
Visiblecontaminationisforeignmaterialthatcanbefoundbysight,touch,orodor.Visiblecontaminationcancause
asuddenfailureofcomponents.

Wearworkingfootwearwithnon-slipsoles.Smoothsolesmayslipfromstepsandpedalsresultingininjuryorincorrect
operation.
Wearcloselyttingworkclotheswhenoperatingthemachine.Loose,widegarmentsmayresultinthecontrollever
beinginadvertentlyactivated.
Keepclearofmovingparts.Looseclothing,jewelry,watches,longhair,andotherlooseorhangingitemscanbecome
entangledinmovingparts.
Donotsmokeoruseanopenamewhenatwork.
Alwaysweareyeprotectionwhenworkingwithbatteries.
Donotcreatesparksorhaveanopenamenearthebattery.
Hydraulicoilordieselfuelleakingunderpressurecanpenetratetheskin,causingseriousinjuryorinfection.
•Donotuseyourhandtocheckforleaks.Useapieceofcardboardorpaper.
•Stopengine,removekeyandrelievethepressurebeforeconnectingordisconnectinguidlines.
•Makesureallcomponentsareingoodconditionandtightenallconnectionsbeforestartingtheengineorpressur-
izingthesystem.
•Ifhydraulicuidordieselpenetratestheskin,seekmedicalattentionimmediately.
•Continuouslongtermcontactwithhydraulicuidmaycauseskincancer.Avoidlongtermcontactandwashthe
skinpromptlywithsoapandwater.
