Usecautionwhenyouoperatethemachineonslopes.Raisedequipment,fulltanksandotherloadswillchangethe
centerofgravityofthemachine.Themachinecantiporrolloverwhennearditchesandembankmentsoruneven
surfaces.
Neverpermitanyoneotherthantheoperatortorideonthemachine.
Neveroperatethemachineundertheinuenceofalcoholordrugs,orwhileyouareotherwiseimpaired.
Whendiggingorusingground-engagingattachments,beawareofburiedcables.Contactlocalutilitiestodetermine
thelocationsofservices.
Payattentiontooverheadpowerlinesandhangingobstacles.Highvoltagelinesmayrequiresignicantclearance
forsafety.
Hydraulicoilordieselfuelleakingunderpressurecanpenetratetheskin,causingseriousinjuryorinfection.
•DONOTuseyourhandtocheckforleaks.Useapieceofcardboardorpaper.
•Stoptheengine,removethekey,andrelievethepressurebeforeyouconnectordisconnectuidlines.
•Makesurethatallcomponentsareingoodcondition.Tightenallconnectionsbeforeyoustarttheengineorpres-
surizethesystem.
•Ifhydraulicuidordieselfuelpenetratestheskin,seekmedicalattentionimmediately.
•Continuouslongtermcontactwithhydraulicuidmaycauseskincancer.Avoidlongtermcontactandwashthe
skinpromptlywithsoapandwater.
Keepclearofmovingparts.Looseclothing,jewelry,watches,longhair,andotherlooseorhangingitemscanbecome
entangledinmovingparts.
Wearprotectiveequipmentwhenappropriate.
DONOTattempttoremovematerialfromanypartofthemachinewhileitisbeingoperatedorwhilecomponentsare
inmotion.
Makesurethatallguardsandshieldsareingoodconditionandproperlyinstalledbeforeyouoperatethemachine.
Neveroperatethemachinewithshieldsremoved.Alwayscloseaccessdoorsorpanelsbeforeyouoperatethema-
chine.
Dirtyorslipperysteps,ladders,walkways,andplatformscancausefalls.Makesurethesesurfacesremaincleanand
clearofdebris.
Apersonorpetwithintheoperatingareaofamachinecanbestruckorcrushedbythemachineoritsequipment.DO
NOTallowanyonetoentertheworkarea.
Raisedequipmentand/orloadscanfallunexpectedlyandcrushpersonsunderneath.Neverallowanyonetoenter
theareaunderneathraisedequipmentduringoperation.
Neveroperatetheengineinenclosedspacesasharmfulexhaustgasesmaybuildup.
Beforeyoustartthemachine,besurethatallcontrolsareinneutralorparklockposition.
Starttheengineonlyfromtheoperator’sseat.Ifyoubypassthesafetystartswitch,theenginecanstartwiththe
transmissioningear.Donotconnectorshortacrossterminalsonthestartersolenoid.Attachjumpercablesas
describedinthemanual.Startingingearmaycausedeathorseriousinjury.
Alwayskeepwindows,mirrors,andalllightingcleantoprovidethebestpossiblevisibilitywhileyouoperatethema-
chine.

1.Parkthemachineonarm,levelsurface.
2.Putallcontrolsinneutralorparklockposition.
3.Engagetheparkingbrake.Usewheelchocksifrequired.
4.Lowerallhydraulicequipment—Implements,header,etc.
5.Turnofftheengineandremovethekey.
When,duetoexceptionalcircumstances,youwoulddecidetokeeptheenginerunningafteryouleavethe
operator’sstation,thenyoumustfollowtheseprecautions:
1.Bringtheenginetolowidlespeed.
2.Disengagealldrivesystems.
3.

Somecomponentsmaycontinuetorundownafteryoudisengagedrivesystems.
Makesurealldrivesystemsarefullydisengaged.

Donotattempttoclean,lubricate,clearobstructions,ormakeadjustmentstothemachinewhileitisinmotionorwhile

Alwaysmakesurethatworkingareaisclearoftools,parts,otherpersonsandpetsbeforeyoustartoperatingthe
machine.
Unsupportedhydrauliccylinderscanlosepressureanddroptheequipment,causingacrushinghazard.Donotleave
equipmentinaraisedpositionwhileparkedorduringservice,unlesstheequipmentissecurelysupported.
Jackorliftthemachineonlyatjackorliftpointsindicatedinthismanual.
Incorrecttowingprocedurescancauseaccidents.Whenyoutowadisabledmachinefollowtheprocedureinthis
manual.Useonlyrigidtowbars.
Stoptheengine,removethekey,andrelievepressurebeforeyouconnectordisconnectuidlines.
Stoptheengineandremovethekeybeforeyouconnectordisconnectelectricalconnections.
Scaldingcanresultfromincorrectremovalofcoolantcaps.Coolingsystemsoperateunderpressure.Hotcoolantcan
sprayoutifyouremoveacapwhilethesystemishot.Allowthesystemtocoolbeforeyouremovethecap.When
youremovethecap,turnitslowlytoallowpressuretoescapebeforeyoucompletelyremovethecap.
Replacedamagedorworntubes,hoses,electricalwiring,etc.
Theengine,transmission,exhaustcomponents,andhydrauliclinesmaybecomehotduringoperation.Takecare
whenyouservicesuchcomponents.Allowsurfacestocoolbeforeyouhandleordisconnecthotcomponents.Wear
protectiveequipmentwhenappropriate.

Fueloroilthatisleakedorspilledonhotsurfacesorelectricalcomponentscancauseare.
Cropmaterials,trash,debris,birdnests,orammablematerialcanigniteonhotsurfaces.
Alwayshaveareextinguisheronornearthemachine.
Makesurethatthereextinguisher(s)ismaintainedandservicedaccordingtothemanufacturer’sinstructions.
Atleastonceeachdayandattheendoftheday,removealltrashanddebrisfromthemachineespeciallyaroundhot
componentssuchastheengine,transmission,exhaust,battery,etc.Morefrequentcleaningofyourmachinemaybe
necessarydependingontheoperatingenvironmentandconditions.
Atleastonceeachday,removedebrisaccumulationaroundmovingcomponentssuchasbearings,pulleys,belts,
gears,cleaningfans,etc.Morefrequentcleaningofyourmachinemaybenecessarydependingontheoperating
environmentandconditions.
Inspecttheelectricalsystemforlooseconnectionsandfrayedinsulation.Repairorreplacelooseordamagedparts.
Donotstoreoilyragsorotherammablematerialonthemachine.
Donotweldoramecutanyitemsthatcontainammablematerial.Cleanitemsthoroughlywithnon-ammable
solventsbeforeweldingorame-cutting.
Donotexposethemachinetoames,burningbrush,orexplosives.
Promptlyinvestigateanyunusualsmellsorodorsthatmayoccurduringoperationofthemachine.
Generalbatterysafety
Alwaysweareyeprotectionwhenyouworkwithbatteries.
Donotcreatesparksorhaveopenamenearabattery.
Ventilatetheareawhenyouchargeabatteryoruseabatteryinanenclosedarea.
Disconnectthenegative(-)terminalrstandreconnectthenegative(-)terminallast.
Whenyouweldonthemachine,disconnectbothterminalsofthebattery.
Donotweld,grind,orsmokenearabattery.
Whenyouuseauxiliarybatteriesorconnectjumpercablestostarttheengine,usetheprocedureshownintheoper-
ator’smanual.Donotshortacrossterminals.
Followthemanufacturer’sinstructionswhenyoustoreandhandlebatteries.
Batterypost,terminals,andrelatedaccessoriescontainleadandleadcompounds.Washhandsafterhandling.This
isaCaliforniaProposition65warning.
Batteryacidcausesburns.Batteriescontainsulfuricacid.Avoidcontactwithskin,eyes,orclothing.Antidote(ex-
ternal):Flushwithwater.Antidote(eyes):ushwithwaterfor15minutesandseekmedicalattentionimmediately.
Antidote(internal):Drinklargequantitiesofwaterormilk.Donotinducevomiting.Seekmedicalattentionimmedi-

Yourmachineisequippedwithanoperatorpresencesystemtopreventtheuseofsomefeatureswhiletheoperator
isnotintheoperator’sseat.
Neverdisconnectorbypasstheoperatorpresencesystem.
Iftheoperatorpresencesystemisinoperable,thenitmustberepaired.
Seatbelts
Seatbeltsmustbewornatalltimes.
Seatbeltinspectionandmaintenance:
•Keepseatbeltsingoodcondition.
•Keepsharpedgesanditemsthancancausedamageawayfromthebelts.
•Periodicallycheckbelts,buckles,retractors,tethers,slacktake-upsystem,andmountingboltsfordamageand
wear.
•Replaceallpartsthathavedamageorwear.
•Replacebeltsthathavecutsthatcanmakethebeltweak.
•Checkthatboltsaretightontheseatbracketormounting.
•Ifthebeltisattachedtotheseat,makesurethattheseatorseatbracketsaremountedsecurely.
•Keepseatbeltscleananddry.
•Cleanbeltsonlywithsoapsolutionandwarmwater.
•Donotusebleachordyeonthebeltsbecausethiscanmakethebeltsweak.
Pulltheright-handbeltfromtheseatbeltretractor.Fasten
themetalbeltendintotheleft-handbuckle.

Yourmachineisequippedwithanoperatorprotectivestructure,suchas:aRollOverProtectiveStructure(ROPS),
FallingObjectsProtectiveStructure(FOPS),oracabwithaROPS.AROPSmaybeacanframeoratwo-postedor
four-postedstructureusedfortheprotectionoftheoperatortominimizethepossibilityofseriousinjury.Themounting
structureandfastenersformingthemountingconnectionwiththemachinearepartoftheROPS.
Theprotectivestructureisaspecialsafetycomponentofyourmachine.
DONOTattachanydevicetotheprotectivestructureforpullingpurposes.DONOTdrillholestotheprotective
structure.
Theprotectivestructureandinterconnectingcomponentsareacertiedsystem.Anydamage,re,corrosion,or
modicationwillweakenthestructureandreduceyourprotection.Ifthisoccurs,THEPROTECTIVESTRUCTURE
MUSTBEREPLACEDsothatitwillprovidethesameprotectionasanewprotectivestructure.Contactyourdealer
forprotectivestructureinspectionandreplacement.
Afteranaccident,re,tipover,orrollover,thefollowingMUSTbeperformedbyaqualiedtechnicianbefore
returningthemachinetoeldorjob-siteoperations:
•TheprotectivestructureMUSTBEREPLACED.
•Themountingorsuspensionfortheprotectivestructure,operator’sseatandsuspension,seatbeltsandmounting
components,andwiringwithintheoperator’sprotectivesystemMUSTbecarefullyinspectedfordamage.
•AlldamagedpartsMUSTBEREPLACED.
DONOTWELD,DRILLHOLES,ATTEMPTTOSTRAIGHTEN,ORREPAIRTHEPROTECTIVESTRUCTURE.MOD-
IFICATIONINANYWAYCANREDUCETHESTRUCTURALINTEGRITYOFTHESTRUCTURE,WHICHCOULD
CAUSEDEATHORSERIOUSINJURYINTHEEVENTOFFIRE,TIPOVER,ROLLOVER,COLLISION,ORACCI-
DENT.
Seatbeltsarepartofyourprotectivesystemandmustbewornatalltimes.Theoperatormustbeheldtotheseat
insidetheframeinorderfortheprotectivesystemtowork.
Air-conditioningsystem
Theair-conditioningsystemisunderhighpressure.Donotdisconnectanylines.Thereleaseofhighpressurecan
causeseriousinjury.
Theair-conditioningsystemcontainsgasesthatareharmfultotheenvironmentwhenreleasedintotheatmosphere.
Donotattempttoserviceorrepairthesystem.
Onlytrainedservicetechnicianscanservice,repair,orrechargetheair-conditioningsystem.
Backupalarmsystem
Donotdisconnectbackupalarmsystemifsoequipped.
PersonalProtectiveEquipment(PPE)
WearPersonalProtectiveEquipment(PPE)suchashardhat,eyeprotection,heavygloves,hearingprotection,pro-
tectiveclothing,etc.
DoNotOperatetag
Beforeyoustartservicingthemachine,attacha‘DoNotOperate’warningtagtothemachineinanareathatwillbe
visible.

Ifyouareexposedtoorcomeincontactwithhazardouschemicalsyoucanbeseriouslyinjured.Theuids,lubricants,
paints,adhesives,coolant,etc.requiredforthefunctionofyourmachinecanbehazardous.Theymaybeattractive
andharmfultodomesticanimalsaswellashumans.
MaterialSafetyDataSheets(MSDS)provideinformationaboutthechemicalsubstanceswithinaproduct,safehan-
dlingandstorageprocedures,rstaidmeasures,andprocedurestotakeintheeventofaspilloraccidentalrelease.
MSDSareavailablefromyourdealer.
BeforeyouserviceyourmachinechecktheMSDSforeachlubricant,uid,etc.usedinthismachine.Thisinformation
indicatestheassociatedrisksandwillhelpyouservicethemachinesafely.FollowtheinformationintheMSDS,and
onmanufacturercontainers,aswellastheinformationinthismanual,whenyouservicethemachine.
Disposeofalluids,lters,andcontainersinanenvironmentallysafemanneraccordingtolocallawsandregulations.
Checkwithlocalenvironmentalandrecyclingcentersoryourdealerforcorrectdisposalinformation.
Storeuidsandltersinaccordancewithlocallawsandregulations.Useonlyappropriatecontainersforthestorage
ofchemicalsorpetrochemicalsubstances.
Keepoutofreachorchildrenorotherunauthorizedpersons.
Appliedchemicalsrequireadditionalprecautions.Obtaincompleteinformationfromthemanufacturerordistributor
ofthechemicalsbeforeyouusethem.
Utilitysafety
Whendiggingorusingground-engagingequipment,beawareofburiedcablesandotherservices.Contactyourlocal

Makesurethatthemachinehassufcientclearancetopassinalldirections.Payspecialattentiontooverheadpower
linesandhangingobstacles.Highvoltagelinesmayrequiresignicantclearanceforsafety.Contactlocalauthorities
orutilitiestoobtainsafeclearancedistancesfromhighvoltagepowerlines.
Retractraisedorextendedcomponents,ifnecessary.Removeorlowerradioantennasorotheraccessories.Should
acontactbetweenthemachineandanelectricpowersourceoccur,thefollowingprecautionsmustbetaken:
•Stopthemachinemovementimmediately.
•Applytheparkingbrake,stoptheengine,andremovethekey.
