Operation Manualfor the PSB series
Power Supply Units for LED Lighting
1.Articles for safety- Be sure toread before using-
Thank you for purchasing Power Supply Units for LED Lighting. Be sure to read this operation manual carefully
and use as described. This manual should be kept with the product and referred to whenever needed. Obey the
following articles with Warning,Caution in this manual to prevent accidents such as bodily
injuries and electric shocks.
<Safety precautions>
Warning
(1)
Do not open the cover of theproduct
Electric shock may occur asthe voltage of some internal parts is high.
(2)
Connect the power plug directly to the outlet.
Fire and electric shock may occur when connected to an extended table tap or a multiple
outlet extension plug. Install and remove the product after disconnecting the power plugs
of the mainbody and peripheral devices fromoutlets.
(3)
Do not touch the power plug with wet hands.
Otherwise,electric shock mayoccur.
(4)
Ground properly.
Otherwise, electric shock mayoccur incaseoftouching the equipmentand the power unit at
thesame time.
(5)
In the following cases, turn off the power, pull the power plug from the outlet and
stop using instantly.
・Smokerising fromtheunit.
・Theoutside of the unitistoo hot.
・There are strange smells or strangesounds.
(6)
Do not look at the light of high lumen directly.
LED Lighting doesn’t have a quality of gathering light like a semiconductor laser, however,
do not look at the light of high lumen directly or do not view the electric flashing light directly
for a long time. Eye damage may occur.

Caution
(1)
There is a risk of electric shock when touching the metal housing of this power supply and another unit at
thesame time. To avoidelectricshock, ground the FG terminal with 0.5〜1.25sq (AWG20〜AWG16).
If the housing of the device touched at the same time has not been grounded and has potential for
electricshock, there isa way to connectthe FG terminalsto avoida shock.
(2)
Do not extend a cable for the light input to more than 5m. Otherwise, the voltage is lowered because of
voltage drop occurred by a DC resistance of the cable. The quantity of light decreases since the voltage
suppliedto the lightdoesn’treachtherate voltage in spite of 100%light-up.
(3)
In case of that the power supply unit is mounted to another system rack or frame case, remove four legs
from bottom of the unit. Mount the unit with M3 screws and make sure the insertion of screw less than
5mmtoavoidshort circuit.
(4)
To conform to EMC Directive, attach a ferrite core ESD-SR-25 [TOKIN] or equivalent to the power cord
for removing the high frequency noise.
(5)
Switch off the power when connecting and disconnectingcables.
Otherwise,fire andelectric shock may occur.
(6)
Disconnect the power cableand the external cable when you move the unit.
Damaged cables may causefire andelectric shock.
(7)
Do notuse the unit in a closed system, as thelight becomeshot.
Cool down with fans, etc.in case ofusingin a closed space.
(8)
In the followingcases, turn off the power, pull the power plug fromthe outlet and stop using instantly.
・Smokerising fromtheunit.
・Theoutside of the unitistoo hot.
・There are strange smells or strangesounds.
Please contact the local sales office of CCSasitis dangerous for youtorepairit.
(9)
In caseof dropping and damagingtheunit, please contact the local sales office of CCSafter turning off
thepower andpulling the power plug from the outlet.
Fire and electric shock may occur if you continue to use the unit.
(10)
Install the unit in the followingsite.
・Temperature: 0 –40℃. Humidity:20 –85%RH. (No condensation.)
・At a flat site without vibration.
・At a site with good ventilation, not exposed to dust.
・Notat the site where the temperature immediately changes.
・Notnear a faucet, a water heater, ahumidifier,an airconditioner ora heater.
(Not at the site where temperature andhumidity is too high, nor too low.)
・Notnear things containing water.
(11)
Obey the following articlesfor the power source.
・Take the power as a dedicated powersource from the space with steady voltage.
Do not operate the unit from the same power source as an air conditioner, a copy machine, etc. as this
causesincorrectoperation.
・Pull off thepower plug fromthe outlet when notusing for anextended time.
・Do not put the power cable nearheating machinesnor damage it.
・Do not touchtheproduct and thepower plug during theelectrical storm.
(12)
Bundlingthe cameracableand the power cable together may affect the screen badly.
(13)
When using colorimage processing with whiteLED,
・In continuous light-up, the quantity of light and color varyinresponse to the temperature.
・Regulate the whitebalance of the camera again about 1 hour after switching on thepower.
・In intermittentlight-up,it is possibleto use theunitassoon as thepower is on.
(14)
Use theLED light with controlledheat-generation.
・The lifetime of the LED light is shorter when used at high temperature. In case of continuous use
keeping the dimming quantityof light around 50%shows stableperformance for a longer time.
・Turning on the light only when taking inthe image, the Intermittent light-up, makesit possible to usethe
unit under the stable condition with less heat generation.
(15)
In using the unit under the following conditions, consider the rates, the functions, and safety like a
fail-safe.Also, contact the sales local office of CCS.
・In case of using it under conditionsand environments not written in this manual.
・In case of using it for atomic energy, a railway, an airplane, a car, a burning machine, a medical
instrument, an entertainment facility or a safety device.
・In the case whenseriousinfluenceson life and property are predicted and special safety isrequired.

3. How to operate
(1) Connection
Turn thepower supplyswitch off.
Connect the receptacle of the LED illuminator tothe output plug connector ontheback part of
thepower supply. Ground the FG terminal with 0.5-1.25sq(AWG20-16) wire. 〔caution1〕
Connect theplug of theAC cord to anAC100V outlet.
(2) Power supply operation
Turn the power supplyswitch on.
(3) Intensity control
PSB series power supply controlsintensity variably.
Intensity voltage rangeis 8.3〜12V for the12Villuminator, 5W model is 15〜24V for the 24V
Illuminator and the 10, 30W model is 12〜24V. The LED intensifies by turning the dial to the right and
dims by turning it left. Some illuminators may deactivate if the dial is turned completely left. The dimming
range of some lightings may be limited. Although we select and use LEDs that have the equivalent
features, the slight unevenness of the forward voltage before turning off makes some LEDs turn off earlier
or flash on. Thisis not due tothe degradation of LEDlightings.
4. Factory Options
