Unpacking
Immediately upon receiving a fixture, carefully unpack the carton. Check the
contents to ensure that all parts are present, and have been received in
good condition. If you have detected a problem, refer to the Claims
section
in the Technical Information chapter of the COLORado™ 6p user manual for
complete instructions on how to make a claim.

Notes
Please read the following notes carefully because they include important
safety information about the installation, usage and maintenance of this
product.
The COLORado™ 6p has no user serviceable parts inside i
t. Any
reference to servicing this fixture you may find within this guide or the
downloaded user manual will only apply to properly CHAUVET®
certified technicians. Do not open the housing or attempt any repairs
unless you are one of them.
Please refer to all applicable local codes and regulations for proper
installation of the COLORado™ 6p.
Keep this guide and the user manual for future consultation. If you sell
the COLORado™ 6p to another user, make sure that they also receive
these documents.
Personal
Safety
•Avoid direct eye exposure to the light source while the fixture is on.
•Always disconnect the COLORado™ 6p from its power source before
servicing.
Mounting
and Rigging
•This product is for outdoor use (IP66). However, do not submerge it.
•Make sure there are no flammable materials close to this product while
operating.
•When hanging this fixture, always secure it to a fastening device using
a safety chain (not provided).
Power and
Wiring
•Never connect the COLORado™ 6p to a dimmer pack.
•Make sure this product’s housing or cable are not cracked, crimped or
damaged.
•Never disconnect this product by pulling or tugging on the power cable.
Operation
•In the event of a serious operating problem, stop using this product
immediately!

please contact CHAUVET® Technical Support.
Expected
LED
Lifespan
Under normal conditions, the LED’s lifespan can be of 40,000 to 50,000
hours. High temperature, like that reached when LEDs are packed in
clusters, may reduce this lifespan. To extend the LEDs lifespan expectancy,
lower the operational temperature by improving ventilation and reducing the
external temperature, as well as limiting the overall projection intensity.

3. Setup
AC Power
This product has an auto-ranging power supply that can work with an input
voltage range of 100~240 VAC, 50/60 Hz.
Make sure that you are connecting the COLORado™ 6p
to the proper
voltage, as per the specifications in this guide, the product’s manual or on
the product’s sticker.
Always connect the COLORado™ 6p
to a protected circuit with an
appropriate electrical ground to avoid the risk of electrocution or fire.
To determine the power requirements for the COLORado™ 6p see the
sticker affixed to the product. Alternatively, you may refer to the
Technical
Specifications chart in the Technical Information chapter of this guide.
The listed current rating indicates the maximum current draw during normal
operation. Please refer to the Sizing the Circuit Breakers
section in the
Appendix chapter of the COLORado™ 6p user manual.
Never connect the COLORado™ 6p to a rheostat (variable resistor) or
dimmer circuit, even if the rheostat or dimmer channel serves only as
a 0 to 100% switch.
Fuse
Replacement
The COLORado™ 6p has a sealed housing to prevent dust and water from
entering it (IP66 rating). Therefore, there is no fuse holder on the outside of
this fixture’s housing.
Power
Linking
This fixture supports power linking from one COLORado™ 6p to another
COLORado™ 2 fixture. Each fixture ships with IP-66 proprietary power
input cables, and a power adapter to Male Edison connector.
AC Plug
Depending on the market and the application, the COLORado™ 6p may
require an AC plug other than the Edison type. Use the table below to install
a different AC plug for the COLORado™ 6p

Mounting
Read the safety notes at the beginning of this guide and follow their
recommendations before mounting this product.
Orientation
You can mount the COLORado™ 6p in any safe position
, whether as a
single module on in stacks to form strips or panels.
Rigging
CHAUVET® recommends following the general guidelines below
when
mounting this product.
•When selecting an installation location, consider ease of access to the
product for operation, programming adjustments and routine
maintenance.
•Always mount this product making sure that there is adequate room
around it for ventilation, especially when stacking fixtures.
•Do not expose this product to extreme temperature changes.
•Maximum ambient temperature (Ta) is 104° F (40° C). Do not operate
this product at a higher temperature.
•If mounting this fixture overhead, make sure that the location where you
are mounting it can support its weight. Please see the Technical
Specifications section of this guide for the weight requirement of this
product.
Procedure
This fixture includes a mounting yoke to which you can attach one or two
rigging clamps. You must supply your own “C” or “O” clamps and make sure
that they are capable of supporting the weight of this fixture. CHAUVET®
recommends using at least two mounting points per fixture.
Use the stacking thumbscrews and slots to interlock two or more fixtures.

Lens
Assembly
The COLORado™ 6p comes with the 15°lens assembly pre-installed from
the factory. However, there is an optional lens kit available as accessory
,
CLENS3036, which will alter the beam angle of the fixture to 30º.
To learn how to change or replace the LED lens assembly,
download the
COLORado™ 6p User Manual and refer to the
Lens Assembly
Installation/Replacement section in the Setup chapter.
DMX Linking
The COLORado™ 6p can work with a DMX controller when linked using a
regular DMX serial connection.
If you are not familiar with the DMX standard, download the COLORado™
6p user manual and refer to the DMX Primer and DMX Connectivity
sections in the Appendix chapter.
DMX
Connection
The COLORado™ 6p uses a regular DMX data connection for its DMX
personalities. Download the COLORado™ 6p user manual
and refer to the
Setup chapter to learn how to connect this fixture for DMX operation, and
the Operation Instructions chapter to learn in detail how to configure this
fixture for DMX operation.
COLOR-CON
The COLORado™ 6p can work with a Colorado Controller (COLOR-
CON).
In this case, the linking is also through the standard DMX serial connection.
Download the COLOR-CON user manual for a detailed explanation of how
to program and use it.
ID
Addressing
The COLORado™ 6p uses the ID Addressing feature to increase the
number of addressable fixtures in the same DMX universe. Download the
COLORado™ 6p user manual to learn
in detail how to connect the
COLORado™ 6p fixture when using ID Addressing.
ADAS
The COLORado™ 6p uses the Automatic DMX Addressing System
(ADAS), which allows to temporarily addressing up to 42 COLORado™ 6p
fixtures in the same universe from the DMX controller
. This eliminates the
need of changing manually the DMX address on each fixture.

user manual.
Universal
Color
The universal color (UC) feature of the COLORado™ 6p allows you to use
this fixture with older versions of the same fixture.
OFF: When RGB are “255”, output is at its maximum.
UC: When RGB are “255”, output matches that of older fixtures of the
same model.

Control
Options
You can set the COLORado™ 6p start address in the 001~512 DMX range.
This allows for the control of up to 42 fixtures in the 12-channel STAGE 1
personality. In addition, the ID address system allows you to assign up to 66
fixtures within the same DMX address, thus multiplying the number of
fixtures you can control within a single universe. You can access the
fixture’s ID address system from channel 10 when in the STAGE 1
DMX
personality, and from channel 8 when in the STAGE 2 personality.

3) Go to MENU > Settings > ID ON/OFF and select OFF.
If ID Addressing is active in a fixture’s control panel, unintended
results may occur if DMX channel 11 values are higher than 0. Make
sure to disable ID addressing and to set DMX channel 11 to 0.
DMX Control

1) Repeat steps 1and 2from DMX Control Without ID Addressing.
2) Go to MENU > Settings > ID ON/OFF and select ON.
3) Go to MENU > ID Address and select an ID address (1~66)
4) When in STAGE 1, channel 10 controls ID addressing.
ADAS with ID
Addressing
1) Repeat steps 2and 3from DMX Control With ID Addressing.
2) MENU > Settings > ADAS ON/OFF > ON
3) MENU > Settings> ADAS fader no > 12
4) To activate ADAS, set channels 8 and 10 to 255.
5) To deactivate ADAS, set channels 8, 10 and 11 to 255.
Personality
Setting
1) Go to MENU > Personality and select a personality.
2) Make sure that the starting addresses on the various fixtures do not
overlap due to the new personality setting. See the DMX Values section.
COLOR-CON
1) Go to MENU > Run Mode and select CON.
2) Connect and configure the COLOR-CON as per its user manual.
Power On/Off
Press <EXIT> for three seconds to power the fixture on or off.
