• Diesel En ine (Four Cycle) Serial Number.
• Diesel En ine Serial Number 6-Cylinder Forward of
Ri ht Cylinder Head, 3, 4-Cylinder Rear Ri ht of
Cylinder Head.
Delcotrons
• Delcotron Unit Serial Number—Top of Rear Housin .
Batteries
• Battery Code Number Located on Cell Cover Top of
Battery.
Starters
• Starter Serial Number and Production Date Stamped
on Outer Case, Toward Rear.
SERVICE PARTS IDENTIFICATION PLATE
The Chevrolet Truck Service Parts Identification Plate
(fi . 3) is provided on all Truck models. On most series
it will be located on the inside of the love box door, on
P&G series it will be located on an inner body panel.
IMPORTANT: RETAIN THIS PLATE AS A PERMANENT RECORD

The plate lists the vehicle serial number, paint informa
tion and all Production options or Special Equipment on
the vehicle when it was shipped from the factory.
ALWAYS REFER TO THIS INFORMATION WHEN OR
DERING PARTS.
KEYS AND LOCKS
Two keys (hexa onal head) are provided with each ve
hicle. The keys operate the i nition switch and door
locks.
PUSHING, TOWING, AND LIFTING
NOTE: Towin to start is not recommended
due to the possibility of the disabled truck ac
celeratin into the two vehicle.
When a push start is necessary turn off all electrical
loads such as heater, radio and, if possible, li hts, turn
on key, depress the clutch, and place the shift lever in
3rd ear. Release the clutch when your speed reaches
10 to 15 miles per hour.
TOWING
All Except Four Wheel Drive Trucks
Normally your vehicle may be towed with all four
wheels on the round for distances up to 50 miles at
speeds of less than 35 MPH. The en ine should be off
and the transmission in neutral.
However, the drive wheels (rear wheels, front wheels)
must be raised off the round or the drive shaft discon
nected when the transmission is not operatin properly
or when a speed of 35 MPH or distance of 50 miles will
be exceeded.
CAUTION: If car is towed on its front wheels
only, the steerin wheel must be secured with
the wheels in a strai ht ahead position.
Four Wheel Drive Trucks
It is recommended that the- truck be towed with the
front wheels off the round. The truck can be towed,
