Phaeton®SL/HL Sight Light
CAUTION: Light should only be connected to the power supply provided with the unit. All
lights are tagged with the service conditions for that particular unit. These specifications
are located on the Jacoby•Tarbox®tag on the housings and are contained in the
“Specifications” section of this manual. Do not use or refer to specifications listed on the
red label on the power supply housing. Those specifications are specific for the enclosure
only! Review the ratings prior to installation and start-up to ensure proper operation for the
installed environment. Should there be any doubt pertaining to the application of a unit for
the installed environment, consult the factory before placing the unit into service.
NOTE: All installation steps should be performed by a qualified technician and should be executed
in accordance with all applicable national and local codes.

To place the Phaeton SL/HL into Service:
1. Place the light directly onto the desired window.
2. Mount light to sight flow indicator or sight window with supplied mounting hardware.
3. Remove the plug in the ¾” NPT conduit connection. Open the housing. The Power Supply has a
2-position terminal block, ready to connect to the customer’s power. All electrical specifications
must comply with NEC guidelines. After connecting the power, close the housing.
4. IMPORTANT: The customer must have a conduit sealing fitting within 18” of the Power
Supply.
CAUTION: Verify that the area is free of flammables before continuing.
5. Turn the power on, then connect the light to the power supply using the supplied DC power cord.
The Phaeton SL should be lit.
Warning: To avoid possible damage to eyes, do not look directly into the Phaeton sl light
ring.
If the cable will not reach the Power Supply, contact your local representative for the required DC
extension cord. Do not attempt to cut and splice the cord.
6. If the Phaeton SL is not lit, check the connections between the Light and the Power Supply and
check the power source. If Light remains unlit, turn the power source off and disconnect the unit
from the power source. IMPORTANT: Take the Power Supply and Light to a non-hazardous
environment. DO NOT REMOVE THE COVER IN A HAZARDOUS LOCATION WHEN POWER
IS ON.
7. Remove the Power Supply cover and connect the Power Supply to a power source in the
workshop. An LED will be lit if it is wired correctly. If the LED is not lit, check the (3) fuses and
replace as needed. If the LED remains unlit, call the factory for more support. Once the LED is lit,
replace the cover on the Power Supply and install the equipment in its working positions as
described in the previous procedures.

STORAGE and HANDLING
Jacoby•Tarbox®Phaeton SL/HL Sight Light meets or exceed all applicable specifications when they
are shipped from the factory. This unit can be applied in many different applications where light is
required.
All units should be inspected upon receipt to ensure that no damage was incurred during transit. If
damage has occurred, a claim should be filed with the carrier immediately. Units should be stored in
an area protected from the elements and corrosive fumes in a secure manner. Care should be taken
to protect the window and the end connections from damage. Avoid placing any objects directly on the
light at any time.
OPERATION
Phaeton SL Series Light runs continuously. The operating life of the LED’s is 100,000 hours (over 10
years) under normal conditions. Customers may install a switch or timer if desired. Do not install
any components between the sealing fitting and Power Supply.
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
Keep the window on the front of the Light clean using commercial glass cleaners, such as Windex®
or similar. Never use harsh abrasives, wire brushes, metal scrapers, or any material that could
scratch the window. The window may be cleaned while the unit is in operation.
The light may be removed while the unit is in operation during inspection or maintenance of the
customer’s sight flow indicator. Never disconnect the blue DC Power Cord while the power supply is
energized. Disconnecting and Re-connecting while energized can cause damage to the LEDs.
** REPLACEMENT PARTS WARNING**
The use of Non-Original Equipment Manufacturer parts (such as glass, gaskets,
probes, modules, etc.) will void the Agency Approval (FM, UL, CSA, ETL, etc…),
pressure/temperature rating, and warranty of this equipment. Clark-Reliance requires the use
of OEM parts for all repairs on this product in order to maintain plant and personnel safety
and reliable operation.
