Kettle

Safety
• This product can be used by children aged from 8 years
and above if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of theproduct in asafe way and understand
thehazards involved.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children
unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
• Keep theproduct and its mains lead out of reach of children
under theage of 8.
• Theproduct may be used by persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or persons with alack of
experience or knowledge which could jeopardise their safety,
provided they have been instructed in thesafe operation of
theproduct and understand thehazards involved.
• Never let children play with theproduct.
• Theproduct is only designed for domestic use or under
similar conditions such as in:
- staff canteens, offices and other staff rooms
- holiday homes and chalets
- in hotel rooms and other forms of temporary accommodation
- Bed and Breakfast facilities
• Theproduct must never be immersed in water during cleaning
or in any other circumstances.
• Avoid spilling liquid onto any electrical connectors.
• Theheating element may be hot after use.
• Themains lead should be checked regularly. Never use
theproduct if themains lead or plug is damaged.

• If themains lead is damaged in any way it must be replaced
by aqualified electrician.
• Theproduct is intended for indoor use only.
• Any children present when theproduct is in use must be
closely supervised.
• Always let theproduct cool completely before cleaning it.
Never place any objects onto theproduct when it is in use or
when hot after use.
• Theproduct must only be used as described in this
instruction manual.
• Place theproduct on aflat, non-flammable surface where air
can circulate freely around it.
• Theproduct must not be used while it is in acabinet or similar
enclosed space.
• Never leave theproduct unattended while in use.
• Unplug theproduct immediately should it begin functioning
abnormally. Never attempt to repair or modify theproduct in
any way.
• Do not place theproduct where there is arisk of it falling into
water or other liquids.
• If theproduct has fallen into water or other liquid during use,
do not touch it. Unplug theproduct from theelectrical socket
immediately. Do not try to retrieve theproduct from thewater
with your bare hands.
• Theproduct should only be connected to a230 V AC
electrical socket.
• Make sure that themains lead does not come in contact with
hot surfaces such as cooker hobs.
• Never insert cutlery, tools or similar objects into theproduct.
• Never subject theproduct to water, moisture, shocks or impacts.
• Do not pull or carry theproduct by its mains lead. Do not use
thelead as ahandle and make sure that it is not crushed.
Do not pull thelead around sharp corners or edges.

• Never use theproduct if it, its mains lead or plug is damaged

Before initial use
Before using thekettle, you should boil two kettles of water in it in order to rinse it of
any residue. Never boil water in thekettle when it is mixed with washing-up liquid or
other detergents.
Instructions for use
1. Open thelid (2) by pressing thelid release button (3).
2. Fill thekettle with cold water, making sure that thewater level is between themin
and max markings on thewater level gauge.
3. Close thelid.
4. Plug themains lead into anearthed wall socket.
5. Place thekettle on thebase (7) and turn it on by pressing theOn/Off switch (6).
Thelight in theswitch will come on.
Thekettle turns off automatically and theindicator light goes out once thewater has
boiled. Theswitch will return to its original position.
Warning: Never turn thekettle on when it is empty.
Boil-dry protection
If you should turn on thekettle while it is empty theboil-dry protection function will be
activated and automatically turn off thekettle. Let thekettle cool before attempting to
use it again.
Care and maintenance
• Always unplug thelead from thepower point and let thekettle cool down properly
before cleaning.
• Thehousing should be cleaned using adamp cloth. Use only mild cleaning agents,
never solvents or corrosive chemicals.
• Unplug thelead from thepower point and store thekettle in adry, dust-free
environment out of thereach of children whenever it is not to be used for
anextended period.
Warning: Never immerse thekettle in water or other liquid.

Descaling
Due to thenatural occurrence of calcium in water, limescale deposits may form in
thekettle after some use. Limescale deposits might lengthen thetime needed for
water to boil. For descaling, use amixture of water and white vinegar (acetic acid) or
aspecial descaling agent that can be purchased at most supermarkets.
1. Mix 100 ml of white vinegar (12%, not regular vinegar) with 300 ml cold water or
follow thedirections included with thedescaling agent.
2. Pour themixture into thekettle and turn it on. Boil up themixture 2 times, and then
pour it out.
3. In order to remove thelast remnants of limescale and descaling agent, thekettle
should be filled to themax mark with fresh cold water. Turn thekettle on and let it
come to theboil.
4. Pour out thewater and repeat this process 3 times. Thekettle is now ready to be
used again.
Thekettle should be descaled after 2–3 months of daily use or whenever it has visible
limescale deposits.
Cleaning the filter
Clean thespout filter regularly.
Procedure:
1. Press down

carefully on
thefilter and
remove it.
2. Clean thefilter
and refit it,
making sure
that it clicks
securely into
place.
Important: Be careful, theedges of thefilter are sharp.
