DANGER
•Battery–Explosivegases!Donotsmoke.Keepsparksandamesawayfromthevehicleandservice
area.Ventilatewhenchargingoroperatingvehicleinanenclosedarea.Wearafullfaceshieldand
rubbergloveswhenworkingonornearbatteries.
•Diesel–Flammable!Explosive!Donotsmoke.Keepsparksandamesawayfromthevehicleand
servicearea.Serviceonlyinawell-ventilatedarea.
•Donotoperateengineinanenclosedareawithoutproperventilation.Theengineproducescarbon
monoxide,whichisanodorless,deadlypoisonthatcanquicklyaccumulateinanenclosedcab.Do
notruntheengineinaparkedvehiclewithoutpropercabventilation.Movetofreshairifyoufeel
nausea,headache,dizziness,drowsinessorweakness.
•Thevehiclewillnotprovideprotectionfromlightning,yingobjects,orotherstorm-relatedhazards.
Ifcaughtinastormwhiledrivingthisvehicle,exitthevehicleandseekshelterinaccordancewith
applicablesafetyguidelinesforyourlocation.
•Donotweldtoawheelorrimuntilthetireiscompletelyremoved.Inatedtirescangenerateagas
mixturewiththeairthatcanbeignitedbyhightemperaturesfromweldingproceduresperformedon
thewheelorrim.Removingtheairorlooseningthetireontherim(breakingthebead)willNOT
eliminatethehazard.Thisconditioncanexistwhethertiresareinatedordeated.ThetireMUST

Forward/ReversehandleintheNEUTRALposition,turnthekeyswitchtotheOFFposition,andremove
thekey.Chockthewheelswhenservicingthevehicle.
•Improperuseofthevehicleorfailuretoproperlymaintainitcouldresultindecreasedvehicle
performance,severepersonalinjury,ordeath.
•Anymodicationorchangetothevehiclethataffectsthestabilityorhandlingofthevehicle,or
increasesmaximumvehiclespeedbeyondfactoryspecications,couldresultinseverepersonal
injuryordeath.
•Checkthevehicleforproperlocationofallvehiclesafetyandoperationdecalsandmakesuretheyare

closebeduntilallpersonsareclearofcargobedarea.Keephandsclearofallcrushareas.Donot
dropcargobed;lowergentlyandkeepentirebodyclear.Failuretoheedthiswarningcouldresultin
severepersonalinjuryordeath.
•Onlytrainedtechniciansshouldserviceorrepairthevehicle.Anyonedoingevensimplerepairsor
serviceshouldhaveknowledgeandexperienceinelectricalandmechanicalrepair.Theappropriate

rubbergloveswhenworkingonornearbatteries.
•Donotwearlooseclothingorjewelrysuchasrings,watches,chains,etc.,whenservicingthevehicle.
•Useinsulatedtoolswhenworkingnearbatteriesorelectricalconnections.Useextremecautionto
avoidshortingofcomponentsorwiring.
•Whenservicingthevehiclewithpartofthevehicleonjackstands,donotoperatetheenginewiththe
Forward/ReversehandleineithertheFORWARDorREVERSEposition.Theall-wheeldrivesystemwill
engageanywheel(s),frontorrear,withtraction(Figure8,Page17).

2.TurnthekeyswitchOFFandremovethekey.
