maybeamodiedvehicle,usingakitinstalledbyadealerorprivateowner,oraremanufacturedvehiclemodied
atthefactory.Throughoutthismanual,importantfeaturesarehighlighted.Weurgetheowner/operatortoread
andunderstandthismanualpriortooperatingthevehicle,andtopayspecialattentiontothefeaturesspecicto
his/hervehicle(s).
MODELIDENTIFICATION
Theserialnumberofeachvehicleisprintedonabarcodedecalmountedeitherbelowthepassengersidecupholder
orabovetheacceleratororbrakepedal(Example:PH0901-583947)(Figure7).
Thetwoletters(1)atthebeginningoftheserialnumberindicatethevehiclemodel.Thefollowingfourdigits(2)
indicatethemodelyearandproductionweekduringwhichthevehiclewasbuilt.Thesixdigits(3)followingthehyphen
representtheuniquesequentialnumberassignedtoeachvehiclebuiltwithinagivenmodelyear.SeefollowingNOTE.

FORWARD/REVERSECONTROL
TheForward/Reverserockerswitch(2)ismountedonthedashbelowthesteeringcolumn(Figure8).TheF
(FORWARD)andR(REVERSE)areclearlymarked.PushdowntheFORWARDsideoftheswitchtooperatethe
vehicleintheforwarddirection,orpushdowntheREVERSEsideoftheswitchtooperatethevehicleinreverse.When
therockerswitchispositionedintheNEUTRALposition,withneithersidedown,thevehiclewillnotoperateifthe
acceleratorpedalispressed.ThereversebuzzerwillsoundasawarningwhentheForward/Reverseswitchisin
theREVERSEposition.
ACCELERATORPEDAL
Theacceleratorpedalisthepedalontheright,withthewordGOmoldedintoit(Figure9).Theoperationofthe
acceleratorpedaldiffersfromthatofanautomobile.WhenthekeyswitchistheONposition,andtheForward/Reverse
switchisineithertheFORWARDorREVERSEposition,pressingtheacceleratorpedalwillautomaticallyrelease
theparkbrakeandstartthevehiclemovinginthedirectionselected(forwardorreverse).Astheacceleratorpedal
ispressed,speedwillincreaseuntilfullspeedisreached.Whentheacceleratorisreleased,powerwillbecutoff
andthemotorwillstoprunning.
Electricvehiclesuseaspecialelectricalsystem,whichemploysmotorbrakinginsomemodesofoperation.In
thosemodes,thevehicleoperatesasfollows:
•WalkAwayBraking:Thisfeaturepreventsthevehiclefromrollingawayuncontrolledshouldthedriverparkona

released,motorbrakingslowsthevehicletoacompletestoporallowsthevehicletocoastfreely,depending

(17.7km/h),withtheacceleratorpedalstillreleased,motorbrakingwillbedeactivatedandthevehiclewillcoast
