FORWARD/REVERSECONTROL
TheForward/Reverserockerswitch(2)ismountedonthedashbelowthesteeringcolumn(Figure8).TheF
(FORWARD)andR(REVERSE)areclearlymarked.PushdowntheFORWARDsideoftheswitchtooperatethe
vehicleintheforwarddirection,orpushdowntheREVERSEsideoftheswitchtooperatethevehicleinreverse.When
therockerswitchispositionedintheNEUTRALposition,withneithersidedown,thevehiclewillnotoperateifthe
acceleratorpedalispressed.ThereversebuzzerwillsoundasawarningwhentheForward/Reverseswitchisin
theREVERSEposition.
ACCELERATORPEDAL
Theacceleratorpedalisthepedalontheright,withthewordGOmoldedintoit(Figure9).Theoperationofthe
acceleratorpedaldiffersfromthatofanautomobile.WhenthekeyswitchistheONposition,andtheForward/Reverse
switchisineithertheFORWARDorREVERSEposition,pressingtheacceleratorpedalwillautomaticallyrelease
theparkbrakeandstartthevehiclemovinginthedirectionselected(forwardorreverse).Astheacceleratorpedal
ispressed,speedwillincreaseuntilfullspeedisreached.Whentheacceleratorisreleased,powerwillbecutoff
andthemotorwillstoprunning.
Electricvehiclesuseaspecialelectricalsystem,whichemploysmotorbrakinginsomemodesofoperation.In
thosemodes,thevehicleoperatesasfollows:
•WalkAwayBraking:Thisfeaturepreventsthevehiclefromrollingawayuncontrolledshouldthedriverparkona
slopeandleavethevehiclewithoutlockingtheparkbrake.Thevehiclewillrollatabout1mph(1.6km/h).Ifthe
walkawaybrakingfunctionremainsengagedfortwosecondsormore,awarningbuzzerwillsoundtoalertthe
driverthatmotorbrakinghasbeenactivated.SeefollowingWARNING.
WARNING
•Walkawaybrakingwillnotlimitvehiclespeedto1mph(1.6km/h)onverysteepgrades.Donot
operatevehicleonslopesexceeding20%grades.
ExcelSystemVehicles
•MotorBraking:Thisfeaturehelpstocontrolvehicledownhillspeed.Whentravelingdownhill,motorbraking
engagestomaintainspeedsproportionaltotheacceleratorpedalposition.Forexample,whentheacceleratoris
fullypressed,motorbrakingholdsthevehicleattheprogrammedtopspeed.Whentheacceleratorpedalisfully
released,motorbrakingslowsthevehicletoacompletestoporallowsthevehicletocoastfreely,depending
upontheselectedcontrollersetting.Thisfeatureisselectable.ContactyourlocalClubCardealer/distributorto
inquireaboutthisfeature.SeefollowingWARNING.
WARNING
•Whenbatteriesarefullycharged,awarningbuzzerwillsoundduringmotorbrakingtoalertthedriver
thatmotorbrakingisoperatingatareducedlevelofperformance.Whenthisoccurs,usethebrake
pedaltocontrolvehiclespeed.
IQSystemVehicles
•PedalUpMotorBraking:Whenvehiclespeedisabove11mph(17.7km/h),releasingtheacceleratorpedalwill
activatemotorbraking,whichslowsthevehiclespeed.Oncevehiclespeedslowstobelowapproximately11mph
(17.7km/h),withtheacceleratorpedalstillreleased,motorbrakingwillbedeactivatedandthevehiclewillcoast
freely.Thisfeatureisselectable.Contactyourdealer/distributortoinquireaboutthisselectablefeature.See
precedingWARNING.
•PedalDownMotorBraking:Thisfeaturehelpstocontrolvehicledownhillspeed.Motorbrakingisactivatedwhen
thevehiclereachestheprogrammedtopspeedandholdsthevehicleatthatspeed.Motorbrakingisautomatically
disengagedwhenvehiclespeedslowsbelowtheprogrammedtopspeed.SeeprecedingWARNING.
