3. TURN RADIOS ON/OFF
Rotate the large outer knob to move the cursor
underneath the System number. Use the small inner
knob to change the Radio status between on and off.
4. CHANNEL EACH RADIO SYSTEM
If bottom line is blank, no second system has been
installed or configured.
Top line is radio system 1.
Bottom line is radio system 2.
Pressing Enter will move the cursor between
system 1 and system 2. The cursor will also
wrap around the screen when moving.

A C-5000 can control 2 RT’s (Receiver Transmitters).
Each RT has a MAIN receiver and transmitter and
possible digital ITM (Internal Transceiver Module).
IMPORTANT: OPERATORS MUST KNOW THE
FREQUENCY RANGE EACH RT TUNES.
The P-25 capable C-5000 can also control analog units
with or without synthesized guard. The Primary and
Secondary mic inputs allow two users to talk on different
RT’s at the same time.
All C-5000’s have memory for 350 preset channels, while
units with SW 11 (also known as Civil Support units) or
higher can hold 700. Channel information can be preset
using the RpWin software, or by programming through
the front panel. Each RT has a Manual channel (M) at
channel 0 location that allows the operator to manually
enter a transmit and receive frequency.

Display Information
Mode 1 Homepage
The Mode 1 Homepage shows the status of the
Primary and Secondary (if available) transceivers in
addition to channel information the user has selected.
Press until the display appears as below.
Pushing the HOME button will bring you back to the
homepage and put the cursor under the channel
number.
Mode 2 Homepage
The Mode 2 Homepage displays the status of the
Primary and Secondary (if available) transceivers in
addition to channel information the user has selected,
as well as offering the ability to monitor a channel on
both the MAIN portion of the transceiver and the
Internal Transceiver Module.
Press until the display appears as below.
Pushing the HOME button will bring you back to the
homepage and put the cursor under the channel
number.
Use the upper and lower soft keys (left of display)
to toggle between the MAIN and Internal
Transceiver Module channels.

The Edit Page allows you to edit the Manual channel
as well as make limited preset channel changes.
Below is an example of the Edit Page for the
Manual channel. For Preset Channels, only the
Tones and Transmit Power can be changed during
Edit Mode.

Basic System Checks
RECEIVE TEST
Reverse video will surround the system number, while
the receive frequency will be displayed followed by an
“R”. A squelch noise or received communication
means the receiver portion of the radio is working.
TRANSMIT TEST
Engage the aircraft transmit push-to-talk switch to
activate the mic key. The transmit indicator, also
known as a carrot or arrow, will be solid when RF
energy is leaving the radio. The transmit frequency
will be displayed, followed by a “T”. If the TX
indicator is hollow, only the mic key input is
functioning, and the radio is not transmitting.

Subaudible Tones
Sometimes a special signal is added to your voice
transmissions in order to distinguish your radio’s
signal form someone else. This is called a subaudible
tone. If a tone is needed by the other people to hear
your transmission, you MUST use a transmit tone.
Alternatively, you have the option of turning your
receiver tones off which will allow you to hear anyone
on that channel.
Tones “OFF” disables tones.
The operator will not hear a
transmission that utilizes any
type of tone codes.
CTCSS Tone “ON” enables
CTCSS Tones. The Transmit
and Receive frequency each
have their own assignable tone.
DCS tones are digital tones and
are identified with three digits,
including 0.
