Please read theentire instruction manual before using theproduct and then save
it for future reference. We reserve theright for any errors in text or images and any
necessary changes made to technical data. In theevent of technical problems or other

Warning: Theengine has no oil in it. Oil needs to be added before theengine is started.
Safety
• Wear protective footwear, tight-fitting clothes and safety glasses/visor, ear defenders
and ahelmet.
• Never use theproduct when you are tired, sick, under theinfluence of alcohol or medicine.
• Always be careful when handling fuel. Open thefuel tank carefully and release any
pressure which might have built up in thetank. Wipe off any spilt fuel and move
theproduct at least 3 metres away from therefuelling location before starting it.
• Remove any sources of ignition, sparks, naked flames, lit cigarettes, etc. from
thearea where thefuel is mixed, used or stored.
• Never smoke while refuelling or using theproduct.
• Do not permit anyone other than theoperator to come close to theproduct when
it is being started or used. Children, pets and bystanders should keep adistance
of at least 15 metres away from theproduct when it is being used.
• Always hold both handles of theproduct firmly with your fingers on one side of
thehandle and thumb on theother side, once theengine is running.
• Keep all body parts away from thetrimmer line or brush cutter blade when
theengine is running.
• Make sure that thetrimmer line or cutter blade is not in contact with any object
before starting.
• Only transport theproduct with theengine switched off.
• Always inspect theproduct before starting, do not start it if there are worn,
damaged or missing parts. Never use theproduct if it is damaged, incorrectly
adjusted or incorrectly assembled.
• All service of theproduct other than that mentioned in this instruction manual should
be carried out by qualified personnel and only using original spare parts.
• Switch theproduct off before laying it on theground.
• Be extra vigilant when cutting small bushes or thick grass. They can become stuck
in thetrimmer head.
• Keep thehandles clean, dry and free from oil or fuel.

• Never start thetrimmer in aclosed room or building. Theexhaust fumes contain
carbon monoxide and are dangerous to inhale.
• Avoid running thetrimmer head near small objects which can be ejected. Check
thearea to be trimmed for small stones and sharp objects before beginning work.
Always stand below thelevel of theproduct if you are using it on aslope. Never
use theproduct on aslope if there is theslightest risk of you losing your footing,
falling or sliding. Hold theproduct firmly with both hands.
• Never use theproduct without wearing theharness.
• When working for long periods, take regular breaks.
• Keep theproduct free from grass cuttings and other deposits, particularly
theguard, trimmer head and engine.
• Theproduct must only be used by persons who have read and understood thecontents
of this instruction manual. Local regulations may restrict theage of theoperator;
check what minimum operator age requirements apply to your region.
• Thesilencer can become very hot; do not touch it with your hands or other parts
of your body.
• Thetrimmer head should not be lifted up during work since thetrimmer line can
injure theuser. Work as close to theground as possible.
• If theproduct has been dropped, inspect it carefully and repair thedamage before
using it again.
• Theproduct must not be used for any other purpose than for clearing undergrowth,
trimming lawns and garden work.
• Theproduct must not be used if thesafety guard is damaged or missing.
• Theproduct must not be modified or used for any purpose other than that for which it is
intended. Doing so increases therisk of accidents and is not covered by theguarantee.
• Do not use theproduct close to flammable gases and liquids since this could
cause afire or lead to anexplosion.
• Never begin using theproduct without having full view of theentire work area.
Keep your proper footing and balance at all times.
• Be extra careful when using thebrush blade for clearing small bushes or saplings.
Twigs and branches can jam in theblade and cause kickback resulting in aloss of
control.
• First-time users should be equipped with safety equipment and be instructed in
thecorrect use of theproduct by anexperienced operator.
• Never start theproduct indoors. Theproduct will emit poisonous exhaust gases as soon
as it is started, these gases may be invisible and odourless but are harmful if inhaled.
• Always wear gloves and keep your hands warm when using theproduct. Long-
term exposure to hand-arm vibration from using this type of product can lead
to permanent damage to hands and arms. If symptoms such as poor blood
circulation, white finger tips, reduction in sense of touch, numbness or tingling in
fingers occur, contact adoctor.

Product safety symbols and their meaning
Wear protective head gear, protective eyewear/visor and ear defenders.
Wear protective gloves.
Wear safety footwear.
Read theinstruction manual carefully and make sure that you
understand its contents before you use theproduct.
Save themanual for future reference.
Stones and other debris can be ejected by thetrimmer.
Foot injuries may result by coming too close to therotating trimmer head.
Noise emissions from outdoor equipment according to EU directive
2000/14/EC. Themachine’s noise emissions are stated
in theSpecifications and on thedecal.
Do not permit anyone else to come close to thetrimmer
when it is in use. Children, pets and bystanders should
keep adistance of at least 15 metres away from
thetrimmer when it is being used.

Attaching the blade/trimmer head
Warning: Thebrush cutter/grass trimmer must only be used with theincluded trimmer
head and accompanying nylon trimmer line or tri-tooth brushcutter blade. Attempts
to use other types of cutting accessories can lead to personal injury or damage to
theproduct.
Trimmer head
1. Note: Thetrimmer head has
aleft-hand thread, screw it on

Operating instructions
Harness
Note: Adjust theharness so that thetrimmer is supported and well-balanced.
Engine oil
Warning: Theengine has no oil in it when theproduct is sold. Oil needs to be added
before theengine is started. Recommended oil: SAE 30, SAE 10W-30, SAE 10W-40,
SAE 5W-30 or SAE 5W-40. Use high quality oil and place thetrimmer on alevel
surface when checking theoil level.
Fuel
• Warning: Never refuel theproduct while theengine is running.
• Use only 95 octane petrol.
Fire hazard. Never use thegrass trimmer or handle fuel in theproximity
of open flames or in areas where sparks may occur. Never smoke while
refuelling, mixing fuel or when handling fuel in any other way.
Note: Always refuel outdoors, never indoors.

Switching on
Note: Anew engine should be “run in” by using it at low speed and with low resistance
for thefirst few hours. This will help all themoving parts of theengine to loosen up and
mate together better and will ultimately lengthen theuseful life of theengine. After it has
been run in, theengine will provide maximum performance and can be operated at full
load. However, theengine should only be operated at full throttle for short periods.
Warning: Before switching thetrimmer on, check that:
• Theengine has thecorrect level of oil.
• Theharness is intact.
• Thetrimmer is undamaged and all thescrews are tight.
• There is fuel in thetank and that thefuel cap is locked.
• You have read and understood theentire instruction manual.
• You are wearing all thenecessary safety equipment (safety shoes, trousers, jacket,
gloves, helmet with visor, ear defenders and glasses/goggles) and that thetrimmer
is intact and working properly.
• Thetrimmer is clean and all theventilation slits on theengine housing are free of
dirt and debris.
• Thethrottle and throttle lock work properly.
• Thestarter handle and cord are undamaged.
• Theon/off switch works properly.
• Thetrimmer head/brushcutter blade is completely motionless when theengine is idling.
• Theair filter is clean. Clean or change as necessary.
• Thefuel tank, carburettor or fuel lines do not leak.
• Thedebris shield is intact and has no cracks in it. Replace it if it is damaged.
• Thebrushcutter blade is centred, sharp and intact. Acracked or damaged blade
which is not centred can cause vibrations and damage thetrimmer.
• Thetrimmer head is intact and has no cracks in it. Replace it if it is damaged.
Cold start
1. Set thepower switch to
the (I) position.
2. Pump theprimer bulb until fuel becomes
visible in theclear return-fuel line.

3. Engage thechoke.
Idle speed adjustment
Theidle speed must not be so high that
thetrimmer head/brushcutter blade rotates
when theengine is just ticking over.
Adjust if necessary.
Switching off
Care and maintenance
Warning: Switch off theengine before all servicing, adjusting and cleaning thegrass trimmer.
4. Pull quickly and firmly on
thestarter handle.
5. Disengage thechoke as
soon as theengine is
running.
6. Theengine might; depending on temperature, air humidity and other environmental
factors; need to run for ashort while on half-choke.

Changing trimmer line
Note: Thetrimmer head should first be detached from thetrimmer before theline is changed.
Air lter
Never use thegrass trimmer without theair filter fitted.
Cleaning
Theair filter should be cleaned every year, more often if thetrimmer is used in dusty
environments. Wash thefilter in soapy water and let it air-dry.

Spark plug
• Type of spark plug: Torch CMR7H
• Electrode gap: 0.6–0.7mm
• Tightening torque: 15–17Nm
Filling/changing the engine oil
Unscrew thefiller cap/dipstick and check theoil level.
Make sure that thetrimmer is on alevel surface when
theoil level is checked. If theoil level is low, add more oil.
Note: Change theoil after thefirst 20 hours operation and
then at thebeginning or end of every working season.

Transport and storage
Transport
• Empty thefuel tank and tie down/secure thetrimmer so that it can’t move around.
Fit theblade guard onto thebrush cutter blade if it is attached to thetrimmer.
Things to do before storing the trimmer
Thefollowing actions should be taken before thetrimmer is put away for storage for
anextended period (more than 30 days).
1. Empty thefuel tank.
2. Start theengine and let it run until it is out of fuel.
3. Allow theengine to cool for 5 minutes.
4. Remove thespark plug.
5. Pour about 2 tablespoonfuls of 2-stroke engine oil into thecylinder.
6. Check that thepower switch is in the (0) position. Turn theengine over by hand
using thestarter handle afew times to coat all theparts with oil.
7. Refit thespark plug.
8. Clean theexterior of thetrimmer.
9. Fit theblade guard onto thebrush cutter blade if it is attached to thetrimmer.
10. Thetrimmer should be stored in adry location away from any sources of ignition
such as naked flames, sparks, heaters and smoking areas.
Using the trimmer after long-term storage
1. Remove thespark plug.
2. Turn theengine over by hand using thestarter handle afew times to remove any
excess oil from thecylinder.
3. Clean thespark plug electrodes and check that theelectrode gap is 0.026 inch (0.65mm).
4. Check that thetrimmer is lubricated and that all thesafety features work as they should.
5. Add fuel.

Troubleshooting guide
Thetrimmer won’t
start or runs
poorly.
• Make sure that thecorrect fuel is used. If necessary, empty
thetank and change thefuel.
• Check thespark plug and replace it if necessary.
• Make sure that thechoke is in thecorrect position.
• Cold start: Begin with full choke and then reduce to no
choke (or half choke) when theengine has started.
• Warm start: No choke.
• Theengine might have been flooded by too many
attempts to start it. What to do:
1. Disconnect thespark plug lead from thespark plug.
2. Remove thespark plug and turn theengine over afew
times to help thefuel evaporate.
3. Wipe thespark plug dry with aclean cloth and refit it
(or replace it with anew one).
Responsible disposal
This symbol indicates that this product should not be disposed of with
general household waste. This applies throughout theentire EU. In order
to prevent any harm to theenvironment or health hazards caused by
incorrect waste disposal, theproduct must be handed in for recycling
so that thematerial can be disposed of in aresponsible manner. When
recycling your product, take it to your local collection facility or contact
theplace of purchase. They will ensure that theproduct is disposed of in
anenvironmentally sound manner.
