Safety
General safety instructions for power tools
Warning: Readall theinstructions. Failure to adhere to thefollowing instructions may
lead to electric shocks, fires or serious injuries.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
Theterm “power tools” in thefollowing warning text refers to your handheld mains
operated or battery operatedtool.
1) Work area
a) Keep thework area clean and well illuminated. Cluttered and poorly lit areas
invite accidents.
b) Do not use power tools in explosive environments,e.g. near to flammable
liquids, gases ordust. Powertools generate sparks that can easily ignite dust
orfumes.
c) Keep children and other bystanders away from thearea where you are using
thepowertool. Distractions can cause you to lose concentration and control.
2) Electrical safety
a) Thepower tool’s plug must fit correctly into thewall socket. Nevermodify
theplug in anyway. Neveruse anadaptor together with earthed powertools.
Unmodified plugs and suitable wall sockets minimize therisk of electric shocks.
b) Avoid physical contact with earthed objects such as pipes, radiators, ovens
and refrigerators. Thereis anincreased risk of receiving anelectrical shock if your
body is earthed.
c) Do not expose thepower tool to rain or other wet conditions. Ifwater gets
inside thepower tool, it increases therisk of electricshock.
d) Do not abuse themainslead. Neveruse thelead to carry thetool or pull
theplug from awall socket. Keepthelead away from heat, oil, sharp edges
and movingparts. Damaged or tangled leads increase therisk of electricshock.

e) When using power tools outdoors, use anextension lead that is suitable for
such purpose. Theuse of anextension lead designed for outdoor use decreases
therisk of electric shocks.
f) If theuse of thepower tool in awet environment is unavoidable, awall
socket equipped with aresidual current device (RCD) should be employed.
Useof anRCD significantly reduces therisk of electricshock.
3) Personal safety
a) Pay attention to what you are doing and use common sense when using
powertools. Neveruse power tools if you are tired or under theinfluence of
drugs, alcohol or medication. Onemoment of inattention while using apower
tool may result in serious injury.
b) Wear protective clothing. Alwayswear safety glasses. Usingprotective
clothing such as dust masks, non-slip safety shoes, helmets and ear defenders
decreases therisk of injury.
c) Avoid accidental starts. Makesure that thepower switch is set to OFF before
plugging thepower tool into awall socket, fitting thebattery or picking up/
carrying thepowertool. Carrying apower tool with your finger on thepower
switch/trigger or connecting thepower tool to awall socket when thepower
switch is set to ON is inviting anaccident.
d) Remove all service tools/keys before switching on thepowertool.
Aservice tool left on any of thepower tool’s rotating parts may result in injury.
e) Do not overreach. Makesure you stand steady and well balanced at alltimes.
Thisensures better control over thepower tool in unexpected situations.
f) Wear suitable clothing. Donot wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery.
Keephair, clothes and gloves away from movingparts. Loose-fitting clothes,
jewellery or long hair could become caught in movingparts.
g) If equipment for dust extraction or collecting is available make sure it is
connected and used properly. Usingof theaforementioned technical aids may
decrease therisk of dust related hazards.
4) Use and maintenance of the power tool
a) Do not force thepowertool. Useapower tool suitable for thework you are
about to perform. Theproper power tool will perform thetask better and safer if
used at thecorrect feedrate.
b) Never use thepower tool if thepower switch does not switch thetool on and
off properly. Allpower tools that cannot be controlled by thepower switch are
dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Unplug thelead from thewall socket or remove thebattery before
making any adjustments, changing accessories or storing thepowertool.
Theseprecautions reduce therisk of thepower tool starting unexpectedly.

d) Store power tools that are not being used out of children’sreach. Donot allow
people who are unfamiliar with thetool or its functions to operate thetool.
Powertools can be dangerous if they fall into thehands of inexperiencedusers.
e) Maintaining powertools. Checkfor any incorrect settings, parts that
catch, broken parts or anything else which may cause thepower tool to
malfunction. Anydetected damage must be repaired beforeuse.
Accidents are frequently caused by poorly maintained powertools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp andclean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp
blades are less likely to jam and are easier to control.
g) Use thepower tool, and any accessories in accordance with these
instructions, take into consideration theworking conditions and thework
that is to be performed. Useof power tools for purposes other than that for
which they are intended could result in adangerous situation.
5) Service
a) Repairs and service should only be performed by qualified tradesmen,
and only with original spareparts. Thisguarantees that thepower tool’s safety
features are correctly maintained.
Specic safety instructions for hedge trimmers
• Keep all body parts away from thecutterbar. Donot remove cut debris or
hold onto any material that you are cutting whilst thecutter bar’s blades are
in motion. Removethebattery before dislodging any debris. Onemoment of
carelessness can result in serious personal injury.
• Turn off thehedge trimmer and carry it by thehandle when moving it short
distances. Alwayshave theblade guard in place when storing or transporting
thehedge trimmer. Correct use of thehedge trimmer will reduce thelikelihood of
personal injury caused by thecutter bar’s blades.
• This product must not be used by anyone (including children) suffering from
physical or mental impairment. Thisproduct should not be used by anyone that
has not read theinstruction manual unless they have been instructed in its use by
someone who will take responsibility for their safety.
• Never allow children to play with theproduct.
• Always hold thehedge trimmer in both hands when usingit.
• Theblades will continue in motion for afew seconds after thepower has been turnedoff.
• Note: Donot touch theblades while they are in motion.
• Keep all body parts away from thecutter bar’s blades. Donot remove debris from
theblades or hold onto any material that you are cutting whilst thetrimmer blades are
in motion. Removethebattery before dislodging any debris.
• Always switch off thehedge trimmer and have theblade guard mounted in place
whenever moving or transportingit.
• Always inspect thehedge before cutting it to make sure that it does not contain
any foreign objects.
• Always hold thehedge trimmer in both hands duringuse.

Assembly
Attaching thefront handleguard:
1. Slide thetrimmer
onto thefront of
thehousing and align

Preparations
1. Make aloop in theextension
lead about 30cm from
theend and loop it over
thestrain relief (10).
2. Plug thepower lead (9) into
theextensionlead.
3. Plug theextension lead into

4. Press in thepressure points
(12) on theblade sheath and
removeit.

Switching on
Before switching thetrimmer on, checkthat:
• theventilation slits (11) are not clogged.
• thetrimmer and its power lead are undamaged.
• thesafety lock button (4) and power trigger (7) are easily depressed and that they
do not stick or function abnormally in anyway.
• both handles (3 and 6) are clean and easily gripped.
1. Hold thesaw firmly with one hand on thefront handle (3) and theother hand on
therear handle (6).
2. First press in thesafety lock button (4) and then pull thepower trigger (7).
Thetrimmer should nowstart.
3. Switch thetrimmer off by releasing either thesafety lock button or thepower
trigger.
Cutting/trimming
• Make sure that there are no foreign objects (e.g. wire
fences or posts) hidden in thehedge which you are
about tocut.
• Max branchdiam: 20mm.
• Hold thetrimmer firmly; maintain asteady stance
and do not lean out toofar. Beextra careful when
using aladder.
• Move thetrimmer along in aslow and steady motion.
• Thedouble-sided cutter bar enables trimming in
both directions or in apendulum action from side
toside.
• For even trimming on thesides it is better to cut in
thedirection of growth, from thebottomup. Ifyou
trim from thetop down, thethinner twigs will bend
out and there is arisk of holes or thin patches
appearing in yourhedge.
• In order to ensure astraight top edge, you can
stretch alength of string over thehedge as aguide.

Care and maintenance
Note: Always disconnect thehedge trimmer from thepower supply before carrying
out any maintenance or cleaning.
• Do not expose thetool torain.
• Wear protective gloves when handling or cleaning theblades.
• Regularly check that thepower trigger and safety lock are undamaged and work
correctly.
• Regularly check thecondition of theblades and make sure that all thenuts on
thecutter bar aretight.
• Lubricate thecutter bar with anappropriate lubricant if thetrimmer is not to be
used for alongtime.
• Clean theexterior of thetool with asoft brush andcloth. Donot use any water,
solvents or polish.
• Remove all dirt, especially from around themotor housing ventilationslits.
• Store thetrimmer in adry, dust-free environment out of thereach of children.
• Always keep theblade sheath on when thehedge trimmer is not inuse.
