Warranty
WHAT IS COVERED
The manufacturer warrants this lighting xture to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of ve (5) years, and ve
(5) years for the battery, from date of purchase. This warranty applies only to the original consumer purchaser and only to products used in
normal use and service. If this product is found to be defective, the manufacturer’s only obligation, and your exclusive remedy, is the repair
or replacement of the product at the manufacturer’s discretion, provided that the product has not been damaged through misuse, abuse,
accident, modications, alterations, neglect, or mishandling.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED
This warranty shall not apply to any product that is found to have been improperly installed, set-up, or used in any way not in accordance
with the instructions supplied with the product. This warranty shall not apply to a failure of the product as a result of an accident, misuse,
abuse negligence, alteration, faulty installation, or any other failure not relating to faulty material or workmanship. This warranty shall not

Before beginning assembly, installation, or operation of the product, make sure all parts are present. Compare parts with the package
contents list. If any part is missing or damaged, do not attempt to assemble, install, or operate the product. Contact customer service for

Installation
1 Preparing the exit light
□To expose the internal components of the exit light,
remove the face plate (A) by squeezing the top and bottom
together. It will release at the bottom and rotate up so it
can be removed.
IMPORTANT: Do not use a screwdriver to remove the face plate.

2 (Optional) Applying directional arrows
□If directional arrows are required, position the directional
chevron templates (F) at the bottom of the panel (C) and
apply the directional chevrons (G) to the right, left, or both
sides of the panel (C) to indicate the correct path of egress
to the exit. Remove the templates (F) when nished.

3 Connecting the backup battery
□Plug in the backup battery by connecting the battery lead
to the lead attached to the PCB board.
4 Choosing your mounting
conguration
□Choose the installation method that is most appropriate for
your needs:
□4a - Top-mount installation
□4b - End-mount installation
□4c - Back-mount installation
□When nished installing the xture, cover any unused holes
with the xture caps (FF - HH).

4A TOP-MOUNT INSTALLATION
□Attach the mounting plate (E) to the outlet box using the outlet
box screws. Ensure the mounting plate (E) is positioned to
allow for the correct orientation of the canopy (D) and xture.
□Secure the canopy (D) to the top of the xture housing (B)
using mounting hole C (threaded) and E. Secure two (2) 3/4 in.
#10-24 screw (DD) with two (2) small hex nuts (EE).
□Run the connection wires through the threaded nipple (CC).
□Make electrical connections as described in step 5 and
mount the canopy (D) to the mounting plate (E) using the two
recessed mounting holes and two 1-1/2 in. #8-32 screws (AA).
□If installing directly via exible conduit, mount the canopy (D)
to the wall using included wall anchors (II) and wall anchor
screws (JJ).

4B END-MOUNT INSTALLATION
□Attach the mounting plate (E) to the outlet box using the outlet
box screws. Ensure the mounting plate (E) is positioned to
allow for the correct orientation of the canopy (D) and xture.
□Secure the canopy (D) to the top of the xture housing (B)
using mounting hole C (threaded) and E. Secure two (2) 3/4 in.
#10-24 screw (DD) with two (2) small hex nuts (EE).
□Run the connection wires through the large hole between
mounting holes C (threaded) and D.
□Make the electrical connections as described in step 5 and
then mount the canopy (D) to the mounting plate (E) using the
two recessed mounting holes and two 1-1/2 in. #8-32 screws
(AA).
□If installing directly via exible conduit, mount the canopy (D)
to the wall using the included wall anchors (II) and wall anchor
screws (JJ).

4C BACK-MOUNT INSTALLATION
□Attach the mounting plate (E) to the outlet box using the outlet
box screws. Ensure the mounting plate (E) is positioned to
allow for the correct orientation of the canopy (D) and xture.
□Secure the canopy (D) to the mounting plate (E) using
the two recessed mounting holes and two 1-1/2 in.
#10-24 screws (AA). Ensure the canopy (D) is mounted and
oriented with mounting hole A to the left.
□Run the connection wires through the large hole in the center
of the canopy (D).
□Make the electrical connections as described in step 5 and
then mount the xture to the canopy (D) using two 3/4 in.
#10-24 screws (DD) going through threaded mounting holes A
and C.
□If installing directly via exible conduit, mount the canopy (D)
to the wall using the included wall anchors (II) and wall anchor
screws (JJ).

5 Connecting the wiring
WARNING: For conduit installations, wiring connections
should be made inside the xture housing and in
accordance with local building codes.
□Make wire connections using the wire nuts (BB).
□For 120 V applications, use the black and white wires. Connect
the black supply wire to the black xture wire. Connect the
white supply wire to the white xture wire. Connect the green
supply wire to the green xture ground wire.
□For 277 V applications, use the red, and white wires. Connect
the red supply wire to the red xture wire. Connect the white
supply wire to the white xture wire. Connect the green supply
wire to the green xture ground wire.
□Cap unused wires using a wire nut (BB).

6 Completing the installation
□Snap the face plate (A) back onto the housing (B).
□Restore power to the circuit.
□Allow 24 hours for the back-up battery to fully charge.

Maintenance
NOTE: National Electric Code (NEC) and NFPA life safety code
regulations require that routine tests need to be performed.
TESTING OPERATION
With AC Power applied to the unit, the EXIT sign and A/C Power LED
indicator should illuminate. When pushing the TEST button, the LED
indicator should turn off, and the EXIT sign will remain illuminated.
TESTING THE BATTERY
Test the unit’s battery once per month. Additionally, every
12 months, a full 90-minute test should be performed. While
disconnected from the main power supply, the EXIT sign should
illuminate for a minimum of 90 minutes on battery back-up power.

Battery Replacement
This xture uses a Ni-Cd Rechargeable AA700 mAh 4.8 V battery.
To remove the battery:
□Bend the battery catches away from the battery and remove
the battery from the housing.
□Disconnect the battery lead from the lead attached to the PCB
board.
□Connect the new battery by following step 3 in the Installation
section of this manual.
□Place the new battery in the battery location and ensure it is
seated behind the battery catches.
Troubleshooting
Problem Possible Cause Solution
The LED charge indicator does
not illuminate.
AC power supply is off. Ensure the unit has AC power supply. Restore the power at the breaker/
fuse box.
The unit is incorrectly wired. Ensure the unit is wired correctly.
The battery is not connected. Ensure the battery is connected.
If the above troubleshooting does not resolve the issue, contact a qualied electrician, or call Commercial Electric customer service at
